The toilet on our first floor began to leak water into the basement as a result of a worn flange. I contacted Energy Plumbing on July 29, 2019 and they responded the same day. Tom visited us and did an excellent job of rapidly fixing the flange. He was very conscientious about ensuring that the toilet was level and well sealed too. We are very pleased with the work accomplished.

Robert from Templar Mould provided a very quick response and assessment of mold around a pipe in our basement. He considered the mold to be not a very serious case (in accord with another assessment that we had on the previous day from a different company). He pointed out the options that we could implement on our own if we wished. Based upon these two assessments we decided that no professional company action was required. We much appreciated Robert’s honesty and expertise. In an area such as mold removal, where seniors such as us could be easily misled, HomeStars provided us with two companies that supplied objective assessments that were not at all self serving.

Antonio from the Ultimate Mold Crew responded very quickly and immediately assessed the mold situation around a pipe in our basement to be a very mild one. He described our options, including how we could easily take care of the problem ourselves if we wished. Based upon his assessment (which was completely in agreement with the assessment of another company) we decided that no professional company action was required. We greatly appreciated Antonio’s honesty and expertise!

The estimate from Star Service Electrical appeared a little higher than two other competitive quotes. However, it was clearly documented and sufficiently descriptive for me to see that the estimate really did define the job we needed done. This attention to detail and professionalism were clearly evident throughout the subsequent work too. Rob and his son, Stavros, installed two exterior light fixtures, rejuvenated eight old exterior security lights and replaced my old security camera. They were very punctual, effective and efficient. Days later, when one of the lights needed adjustment, Rob responded very quickly. We are very pleased with all of the work that they performed and would not hesitate to contact them again.

We had recently two very large windows in our kitchen replaced by Advance Windows and Doors. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price. The windows look great! We particularly thank Moe Shaban, the Sales Manager, for having the job done to fit our schedule.

Elias of 365 Plumbing Inc. very expertly completed two jobs for us. The first (on Feb. 16) was urgent and involved a leaking toilet. Elias rapidly located the source of the leak (it was not where I thought it was!) and very quickly repaired it. The second job (March 27) was a toilet that was failing to work properly because the incorrect mechanism had been installed years ago. Elias very determinedly identified, obtained and replaced the required parts. It works great now. His price included parts and was very reasonable. He’s a very pleasant person and we enjoyed doing business with him. We will certainly call 365 Plumbing Inc. again if we have a plumbing problem.

Our kitchen sink was about 20% plugged. We tried to repair it first with a plunger and then with commercial drain cleaner chemicals. By the time we finished the sink was about 90% plugged. We called Mr. Plumber. It was obviously a challenging job because the house builder had failed to permit easy entrance to the piping for a plumbing “snake”, there were plenty of right angles in the piping and our attempts to “clean” the line had congealed the large amount of cooking grease that had accumulated over 30 years. Andrew proved very knowledgeable and efficient. It was amazing to see how he successfully tackled the problem and the amount of gunk that there was in the line. Andrew is a very pleasant person to talk with. The work that he accomplished included installation of an entrance port for a "snake" and corresponded well to the cost of the job. He was very punctual and left the work area neat and clean. We would not hesitate to very highly recommend this company and Andrew in particular.

Especially, it is hard if there is no proper clean-out that must be installed downstream of P-trap according to the Ontario plumbing codes. Our 23 year old dishwasher was failing to wash our dishes very well and had even sprung a small leak. We dreaded the thought of replacing it because tiling around the base would have made installation of a new dishwasher very expensive (not to mention the cost of a new dishwasher too!). We contacted Cascade Appliance Service Ltd. through Homestars. Steve and Linda did an amazing job. They very quickly identified the parts that needed replacing and the source of the leak. Within about a week they had completely rejuvenated the dishwasher at a very reasonable cost. They were very efficient and knowledgable, as well as being very pleasant and professional to deal with. We have no hesitation in very highly recommending them.

I’m very pleased with Hometurf service. Our lawn has remained healthy over the several years that we have employed Hometurf through “good summers” and “bad”. When a treatment is applied to our lawn we receive an info brochure showing us that the lawn was both inspected and treated. Also, lately, when treatment of our backyard was missed because a gate was rusted shut, Hometurf made a point of contacting us and arranging for a return visit to separately treat the backyard. About the only concern I have is that we are provided with a single “over-seeding” of the lawn in place of aeration (which we don’t want because of the possibility of damage to our sprinkler system). I would prefer that there was a discount or a choice of some alternate treatment to over-seeding available. [To be fair I must say that I have not yet made this request to Hometurf.]

I telephoned Just Junk this morning. Ben and Rory arrived on time today. They were very pleasant, efficient and professional. Ben provided me with a quotation range and explained that they would only charge based on how much of their truck the junk actually occupied after they loaded it. Very quickly and carefully all of our junk (including a 65 gallon aquarium) was removed from our basement. Their charge was at the lower end of the range and they even remembered to provide us with a web advertised $10 discount without us reminding them. I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again or to recommend them.

Our 25 year old clothes washer begin leaking water from somewhere inside it. I contacted TAG Appliance Services. Gary, one of their technicians, was at our door that same afternoon. He quickly diagnosed the problem and showed me that a part was leaking. He then very rapidly obtained the part and efficiently replaced it. He also saw that a couple of small very inexpensive parts were on the verge of failing and, with my permission, replaced those too. The bill was very reasonable and even included a seniors’ discount. I would have no hesitation in very highly recommending this company to others.

Our 20 year air conditioner finally had to be replaced (we had a friend try to revive it but it only survived two months). We obtained four quotations. A1 was not the least expensive but Richard Preston, the salesperson, was very credible and offered the most appealing variety of air conditioners. We also liked Richard’s informative, objective presentation. On installation day (less than a week after the sale) two technicians arrived at our door on time (7:00 a.m.). They were very professional and completed the job in about four hours. I noted that the outside unit had a slight dent one panel. I photographed the dent and sent Richard an e-mail attaching the photo. He contacted the General Manager (Rolf von Estorff): within an hour the panel had been replaced. At the end of the job, Mike, one of the technicians, walked us through the installation (air conditioner and humidifier) and gave us plenty of useful advice (he very kindly cooperated with me video recording him so that we would remember it all!). It’s now been over a week since the new air conditioner was installed. It’s working beautifully. I have no hesitation in very highly recommending A1.

We recently purchased two new garage doors and openers from Dodds. We are very satisfied with both the doors and their installation. This company exudes professionalism. Michael, the salesman who visited us after we telephoned, thoroughly answered all of our questions. His answers were very accurate and we could see that they were based upon solid experience. We did not feel pressured at all and he very clearly communicated both low cost and higher cost options. The doors were installed by Omar. Despite that it was a bitterly cold day, Omar completed replacing the two old doors with new ones in about four hours by himself. He described the operation of the opener, easily answered all of my questions and left us with two beautiful and perfectly operating doors.
