Why is it that The Appliance Repair Team can repeat the same fraudulent behavior for years and still function legally? I am one of many who has paid them for services and parts that haven't been supplied.
Being of retirement age and disabled, myself with MS, and my husband equally disabled with a very recent hip replacement and in a panic over a broken washing machine, I failed to research the company as I usually would have. I fell for their web site promises of same day service. Needless to say, this was a grave mistake.
Our experience is as follows:
APPLIANCE REPAIR TEAM COMPLAINT
#1 On Aug. 19 I hired The Appliance Repair Team to fix my washing machine that wasn’t working.
#2. Kamal came from the co. diagnosed for $280 and said it needed a new transmission assembly for around $1500. He needs $889.52 that day in either cash or debit. The remaining balance of $573.12 would be charged when completed. With He’d be back on Tues. 25 to fix it.
#.3 Appointment cancelled, family emergency...back on Fri. 28
#4 Still upset, had to take the weekend off, back on Mon, 31
#5 Can't come back until Thurs. Sept.3
#6 It's now Sept. 3 and Mathew came; said he needed a grinder to remove ceased bolt. He'd come back on Wed. Sept. 9th.
#7 Wed. Can't make it...be back on Fri.Sept. 11
#8 Fri. Sept.11 Mathew came back with a grinder, couldn't do whatever she had planned. and took the whole outer tub, saying he had to have help to remove a bolt and needed a flange. He'd be back later that day. Didn't come back, so I phoned the company. They said he'd be back that night or phone, if not, he'd squeeze us in Sat. morning. There was no call and no visit.
#9 Mon. Sept. 15 Still no sign of Mathew or any news from the company. At this point the washing machine is in pieces throughout the basement with the drum removed from our premises. I can’t even get another company to address the problem because a major component has been removed. I phoned the company and was told that Mathew would get in touch with me to set up a time for installation.
#10 Thurs. Sept. 17 Have not heard from either Mathew or The Appliance Repair Team. Sent an email to ART complaining of lack of service (same as this one up to Sept.17). Fri. Sept18 will be 30 days since the contract with The Appliance Repair Team was signed. No work has been completed; The transmission assembly ($1014.38) though charged for has not been seen, much less installed.
#11 They phoned and said they would come on Sept.21 between 3-6pm.
#12 They did not show up on Sept.21. I phoned them and they said a manager wanted to talk to me. They would phone back on the morning of Sept. 22.
#13 Sept.22 I sent them an email laying out my complaint plans and giving them 48 hrs. to respond. I received an answering email saying;
Dear Tina,
We received your message.
If your message required a response, one of our team members will contact you shortly.
Best regards,

The A Team Appliance Repair
Sept.23
The Appliance Repair Team has not held up its responsibilities regarding this contract and we would therefore like to cancel it. We expect to be refunded the $889.52 and have the property (the outer washing machine tub) that was removed from out premises returned.
If this does not happen in the next 48 hours, I will be lodging complaints and writing negative reviews with:
1.The Better Business Bureau.
2. Homestars
3. Filing complaints with Consumer Protection Ontario. and Competition Bureau of Canada.
4. Investigating initiating a class action suit against your company and contacting police regarding theft of property.
