Mark Steven, owner of Regal Roofing Works came highly recommended from a friend. After several quotes from other roofing companies, it was apparent that Mark was competitive in costs, but more importantly highly knowledgeable in diagnosing issues with the old roof which included a leak, blocked side and roof vents. Mark's company did a complete removal and replacement of the roof system with new R20 insulation, new plywood, re sloping of the roof, 2 new drains, new insulated vent stacks and flashing. Mark also replaced two skylights that were cracked. The project was overseen by Mark's manager who was on the job site each day and took hundreds of pictures during the project so that I could see the progress of the work as the roof was three stories high and I was unable to view the progress from ground level. The work was completed over several days and the roofers stayed very late into the evening to ensure that part of the roof which hadn't yet been completed was protected by tarps against a threat of rain. All workers were courteous and efficient. I found Mark to be honest and highly knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Regal Roofing Works.

This company was employed to remove old sliding doors that were replaced with new french doors with fixed side window panels in the existing opening and installed a stone ledge. Brian T. Fletcher Construction also removed all old baseboard trim, interior doors and installed new trim, crown moulding, doors with new hinges and knobs. A stucco ceiling was covered with plaster to update the room. Brian outsourced a contractor to make an iron railing to my specifications for the french door opening and I was very happy with the results. All workers at this company are experienced tradespeople who did excellent work. The owner, Brian, managed the project and kept me informed with the progress of the work. I have no hesitation in recommending this company as the owner guarantees excellent workmanship and all tradespeople are highly experienced. All staff are pleasant, arrived on time and worked full days.

When I moved into my home the previous owners had left a lot of junk under the deck. Two guys showed up and removed all the debris and were very pleasant. Used them again to remove junk out of the garage. Again excellent service and really nice and polite guys. They were happy to take everything and ensured I was happy with the job.

Have used this company to install a new slim jim air con. Install went smoothly and technician was knowledgeable and efficient. Continue to use them to service my furnace and air conditioners. Originally had Belyea attend to a service call that was being cancelled by their competitor, Dupont Heating. Apparently Dupont Heating didn't want to go on the roof to service the air con. Belyea had no problem and always shows up on time.

I had this company install a new gas furnace. Work was completed in a timely manner and installers were very pleasant. I than contacted the company to service my slim jim air conditioner located on my roof. They booked me in and never showed up. Called to see what happened and they gave me an excuse. Rebooked and same thing happened. Tried one more time. Same deal. Called the fellow who does booking and asked what kind of service is this. He advised that their technician didn't want to get a ladder and go on the roof to service the air con. I guess they must have too much business when they treat their customers like this, and after paying for a new furnace. Called their competitor, [ed- competitor removed] who where happy to do the job and now service my furnace as well.

All of our technicians have ladders on their trucks to service this type of equipment. The only time we do not service these units is when the weather is bad and doesn't allow us to service the units properly. We always call ahead if the technicians are late or if we cannot accommodate the appointment time. BE AWARE....This person has given bad reviews to all the companies she has dealt with. I don't see this as a legitimate review and could be false. If this person wishes to discuss the matter in person or on the phone they are more than welcome to come into the office or give us a call at 416-532-2859.

From start of finish it was a pleasure working with Fireplace Concepts. The owner helped me select the appropriate fireplace for my needs and the install went smoothly. A short time later the pilot light kept blowing out and the owner returned the next day to identify the problem. To rectify the issue some drywall needed to come down and more insulation was added. They did a great job fixing the problem, patching and painting the wall at their expense. It was wonderful dealing with such a reputable company and one that wanted to ensure their customers were completely happy. I would have no hesitation in working with them again or recommending them. It's so nice to see a company that comes through for their customers when so many other companies try to deflect issues and responsibilities.

Had used this company for years when after the last cleaning I noticed the next day that several windows were scratched. When I contacted the owner he came right away to look at the problem and said he was not responsible. He refused to acknowledge that he caused the damage and became aggressive and raised his voice at me. As we continued the discussion he mentioned that another client also accused him of scratching her windows. When I pointed out that perhaps something sharp was caught in his cleaning rollers he became more angry. At that point I ended the conversation as I was concerned about his threatening nature towards me.

Very sorry you have scratches on you windows but as our terms stated we can not be responsible for any scratches during a construction clean because of the many trades that are in the house such as the painters that used razor blades to remove all the tape that they put on the glass and frames. This is why we have it in our terms that you agreed to when you hired us.

My designer recommend Spanco for my kitchen renovation. Some work done well but one contractor kept showing up late with a hangover on a consistent basis. The electrician who re wired the pot lights and added other lighting was not licensed, which we found out later. His work caused the lights to short out and caused an electrical arch in the switch bank. Smoked poured out of one lighting fixture and melted the wires. The gang box was too shallow, all the wiring in the box was improper and some wires not properly grounded. We were lucky this wiring did not cause a fire in our house. Shocking to find out the guy who did electrical was not licensed but was told he was a certified electrician.

Span-Co finished a well designed remodel of a north Rosedale home in 2000. Approximately 8 – 9 years later we received a phone call explaining how the switching or lights were shorting out. The home owner had two electricians in her home performing corrective work. When briefly speaking to one of the electricians by phone, he refused to disclose their hourly rates or any details regarding their work. The bill amount seemed excessively high for the work we were told was performed. The home owner expected us to pay the full bill which was thousands of dollars more then the original electrical work ever costed. Because I had no opportunity to send our own master electrician to access the situation or even given the opportunity to review the bill, we were left in a difficult situation. I discussed this with the designer and we both decided to compensate the home owner. Span-Co refunded the original electrical work. I thought this was a fair and proper way to respond 8 years after working on the project.
In regards to having a tradesman late and hung over, unfortunately we never received any complaint from the client or designer. Reading this post 10 years later is the first we heard about it. If we had known that one of our tradesmen was hungover and arriving late we would have acted accordingly.
All in all we had a good project and enjoyed working with the designer and home owner. I felt that refunding the original electrical portion was very fair. I also feel that the electricians doing the work were excessive in their invoicing. By not paying the electrical invoice in full I have an upset client that has posted this story. It is unfortunate that we could not satisfy this customer but I do feel we went above and beyond what would be expected.
In our past 35 – 40 years of operating we do have thousands of happily satisfied customers hundreds of whom have personally written letters of thanks. I would gladly share this with anyone that would like to read them .I enquired about posting them up on the site but home stars does not allow personal handwritten reviews that were given to the contractor.

The install went fine but several items needed a follow up visit and some paint touch up. Painting was completed quickly as they sub contract to Finer Edge Painting. However still waiting for the other items to be completed more than six months after the install. Phone calls are never returned, staff turn over on a regular basis so when you are dealing with one person the next time you call they're not employed there any longer. Emails not returned. Management always has an excuse and don't seem particularly concerned. I've never seen such poor customer service and incompetence. I've contacted them one more time to see if they intend to complete the job. They did acknowledge the issues and lack of service. Said they would address the deficiencies. We'll see.
