I found Quality Potlight Inc. on HomeStars and requested a quote. Their quote was not the cheapest (in the middle), but I chose them because of their quick response time. Communication was great, before and during the work. The electricians were excellent, and were very responsive to my questions and requests. They did a great job, worked very efficiently, and kept the work area as clean and tidy as possible. Overall, I was happy with their workmanship, customer service, and I would recommend Quality Potlight Inc., and would definitely use them again.

This was my second time using Fix Appliances, and I would definitely recommend them. Our washer and dryer had both been giving us problems; the washer wasn't draining properly, and the dryer was getting very noisy. Communication to set up a time for the technician to visit was excellent and professional. The technician, Ilya, was very polite, professional, and on-time. He took the time to explain the issues with the washer and dryer, and why they likely happened. He even took a look at my built-in microwave that was not operating well and gave me an opinion on what could be done. I would recommend Fix Appliances, and I will definitely continue to use them again when needed.

This was my first time using Locksmith Care. Dimitri arrived at our house a few hours after contacting him. Communication was great, before and during the service call. He suggested that the lock be re-keyed rather than changing all the hardware. Fast, efficient, reliable and friendly is how I would describe their service. I will definitely recommend Locksmith Care to others.

Our dryer suddenly stopped generating any heat. Communication with the office was excellent. The technician was professional, friendly, polite and on-time. I found Oborne Contracting Inc. on HomeStars and requested a quote to rebuild my master bathroom shower which had a leaking shower base, and repair and paint the main floor ceiling which had water damage. Their quote was not the cheapest (in the middle), but I felt comfortable with John that I would be taken care of when things didn't go as planned. Tim, the project manager, was excellent, and was very responsive to my questions and requests. He worked very hard, did a great job, and kept the work area as clean and tidy as possible. I also must thank John who took the time to explain everything that was going to happen, and checked in with me during and after the project. Overall, I was very happy with the workmanship, customer service, and the finished product.

I posted a service request on Homestars as I had water coming into the master bedroom closet floor, from the en-suite bathroom shower. I got a call from a friendly professional lady (who's name I have forgotten; my apologies) to set up an appointment. Mark arrived to diagnose the issue. I worried that he would have to cut into the closet wall to get at the problem, or worse yet he would have to disassemble the shower unit to get to the pipes, and that it would turn into a huge job. Mark inspected the areas carefully and suggested that he test the area by running the shower, before doing any intrusive work. He found a small leak in the side of the shower which was allowing the water to get to the wall and into the closet. All it needs is re-caulking when it dries. My Siberian Elm tree was starting to terrorize the neighbourhood with its long intruding limbs, threatening dead branches, and nuisance leaves. Elite Tree Care provided a very competitive quote which clearly outlined the scope of work. Wenda and her crew arrived to save the day. She took her time to explain to me what she was going to do, and was very polite and professional. She explained why she would or would not remove certain branches based on how the tree would react; this was really helpful. I couldn't believe how high she and another crew member got up in that tree. During and at the end of the job, the crew cleaned up all debris from my yard, and from the neighbour's property. I would definitely recommend Elite Tree Care.

I hired Boss Mechanical to install a gas line for my BBQ. They were professional, polite and worked efficiently. They left my property in a tidy condition, and I was very happy with their work. I would definitely use them again.

My eavestroughs needed cleaning; I had noticed that a section was overflowing during a recent heavy rainstorm. Ally was very professional and sent a detailed cost estimate. The work was scheduled, the crew arrived on time, did a thorough job, and left the property in a clean and tidy condition. I would highly recommend them for eavestrough/roof gutter cleaning.

I had hired a plumber to repair a leak in my basement shower, which resulted in a hole in the wall. So I had to find someone to fix the tiled wall. Mike responded very quickly to my Homestars email message; I sent him a photo of the area that needed repair. We exchanged emails, agreed on a price, and he even showed up earlier than the agreed upon time (he called ahead to make sure it was OK). It wasn't an easy job as some of the tiles did not have a backing, but he made it work. Happy with the finished product. Thank you Mike!

I found New Canadian Drain & Plumbing Ltd. on HomeStars and gave them a call for my shower leak. They were pleasant over the phone and were able to book me in for a same day appointment (on a Saturday). Even as he came across evidence of a poorly designed previous plumbing installation, the technician took the time to explain everything that was happening on a frequent basis. He was working within a very tight space, and had forgotten a specific power tool (can't remember the name of it) that would have made the work a lot quicker, but continued to work on the leak until it was fixed. Overall, I was satisfied with the workmanship and customer service, and the leak is fixed.

I needed a contractor to provide a solution to surface cracking that was evident along the joint between my house and a public laneway. I found Asphalt Care on HomeStars, and they were very quick to respond. I sent David some photographs, we agreed on a price, and he and Daniel were at my place the next day! They injected the cracks with a rubberized compound, applied a damp proof coating over the top, then applied hot mix asphalt over the top. Then they came back the next day to spray another layer of the rubberized sealer. I'm very happy with the service that Asphalt Care provided.

My stairwell needed a railing. Fadi was very responsive and professional over the phone. He came and installed a simple wooden railing within a short period of time (He was finished within 90 minutes). Happy with his work.

It was time to replace the attic insulation in my old circa 1920s home, so I got a couple of estimates for a complete solution to my soaring heating and cooling bills. Insta Insulation recommended the complete removal of the existing old damp blown-in insulation (day 1), the application of a 2" thick layer of closed cell polyurethane foam (day 2), and topped off with blown-in cellulose insulation (day 3). The removal crew was great, the spray foam crew was excellent, and the blown-in insulation crew was very good. All three crews were professional, polite, friendly, quick, willing to answer questions, and did a good job cleaning up after they had finished. Only 1 hiccup during the whole process: due to a truck breakdown the blown-in insulation work had to be postponed to the following week, but they were professional about it, notified me, and re-scheduled quickly. Overall I was very happy with their work.

The chimney was starting to fall apart so I started getting prices from contractors. John McTaggart of Walter Townshend & Son Inc. was very knowlegeable over the phone and gave me a competitive quote. While doing the work they discovered that my chimney liner did not extend all they way out above the roof, which posed a risk of gases being released into the attic space. We agreed on a price to replace the chimney liner. They completed the entire job approximately within a week. Overall I was happy with the work they did.

I needed new shingles on my century old home, as I had 3 layers of asphalt shingles (from previous owners) that were really showing their deterioration. I decided on steel roof shingles. So I received 4 quotes that were all over the place. With the prices in hand I did some online research and decided on New Steel Roofers. In April I was told that they were booking into June and July. It took a lot longer than I had expected to actually set a date for the work to begin. It took a lot of calling and leaving messages with the person that quoted the work, which got annoying. Once the work did begin it went well. The two man crew that were assigned to my roof were very friendly, pleasant, punctual and took time to explain things to me. Even assisted with a problem I had with squirrels getting into the flat roof section of my house. The product they used seems to be very good, high quality. I'm happy with my roof and the work that they did.
