Jeremy had installed this fireplace a several years ago. For some reason the pilot light had gone out and using the remote to restart it wasn't working. I booked an appointment with Jeremy (Natural Gas Techs) and he dropped me a note suggesting I try changing the batteries. I didn't think that would work as I could see sparks near the pilot and hear and see the gas valve open and close when I used the remote but I did as he suggested. All of a sudden things were working again.
Saved me an appointment and got me up and running again just when things got cold.
