Door Lite Tek Wrought Iron Door Inserts - No Longer in Business

On March 17th 2013, we met Ryan at his booth at National Home Show, he operates under a different company name at that time: Total Inserts Ltd.

One week later Ryan came to our house and we agreed on product and cost and installation date, we went to the bank and gave him $500 cash deposit per his request.

On the installation date March 28th, Ryan failed to come and blamed flat tire, it was suspicious without any background noise when he was calling from 407 highway.

We googled Ryan's phone number, immediately several complaints showed up, there were product/installation/billing issues from the source including Home Stars and BBB.

We contacted Ryan with these findings and he denied. We decided to give Ryan second chance and requested detailed agreement and warranty information prior to installation, but Ryan failed to provide.

During the same time, we contacted another two companies we found on Home Stars, after seeing the actual door inserts we ordered from Ryan, we realized that Ryan gave us wrong information on product:

1. no privacy vs total privacy (Ryan)
2. mass produced by factory vs custom made (Ryan)
3. Made in China vs Made in Canada (Ryan)

We were actually glad that the door insert was not installed.

On April 6th, we informed Ryan that we did not want to go ahead with installation and requested refund of deposit, Ryan agreed to deliver the already made custom side panels and refund partial deposit subtracting occurred cost (with itemized invoice), none of these had happened and Ryan just disappeared.

Realistically today we do not expect the refund from Ryan any more, we filed a complaint against him at BBB (Better Business Bureau).

We hope people can see this review and don't become another victim.

The Fall Home Show is coming soon and we don't want to see Ryan be part of it.

Every time we hire a contractor, we come to Home Stars first!

Ryan seemed genuine at first and that's why he was chosen for the job despite some bad reviews here. After completing the job, he left the old pieces for me to take away and for others (reading reviews) he had taken away. He did not validate his work after completing it. I found later that there were water leaks. After calling and leaving multiple messages, he came to assess the issue and suggested a way to fix it. He promised me that he'll come by before the end of the week but, never came back. He also came to do the work by himself. Normally, you would need an extra helper to efficiently complete the job. I had to help him instead. In the end, I don't trust him. He's out to take your money but never keeps his word. Found him to be a very big talker and that's it. I do not recommend his services.

We had Ryan and his guys come for an estimate after we found him online and saw a majority of good reviews. The guys did a very nice job with the lion head design. Custom
i like the full e=warranty and clean up was good ...they took the old stuff away. AAA+++

Last year, he came and gave my neighbor and my house estimates, the price was very cheap, we gave him $200 each as deposit. He left and never come back, we called him and left him voice mail, he never returned.
What should we do about this guy?

We had been looking for a company to install an insert in our front door for some time. On Canada Day, we came across Ryan's booth in Barrie. Within three days, he came by the house to show us our options and set up an appointment for installation the next day. A hexagon window at the front of the house was to be measured for an upgrade to the same glass as the insert at a later date. The glass in the window got cracked in the process. It's a month later and numerous phone calls and text messages have been left for Ryan. We had a date and time set for the cracked window to be replaced.....no one from the company showed up. The door is beautiful, but is not closing properly and there are very noticable gaps between the trim around the insert and the door itself. After reading some other poor reviews and then reading about the follow up to them, we're hoping that this will get the attention that the phone calls are not. To say that we are disappointed with the service we have received would be a gross understatement. To say we are regretting stopping by Ryan's booth at Promenade would be more accurate.

We had our solid steel door cut and and an iron insert installed by Door Lite Tek. We are extremely happy with the work. And our product was deliver the day after. The install was neat and tidy. We had a back door that was rubbing and the home builder came twice to fix it with no luck. We asked the insert installer to take a look and it was fixed in 5 mins free of charge! Thanks for that.

Ryan has also provided service for 2 of our direct niegbours and they are also satisfied with the organization of this company.

So we had Ryan and his guys cut our doors and place iron inserts in them. This was a refferal from our neighboor that introduced us to his company ........... although my wife and I saw some negative comments and asked Ryan about these and decided to proceed anyways.....glad we did. The whole thing was smooth and quick with no issues at all. Great job guys!!! We recommend them fully!!!! Great price.

The group of guys that put our iron inserts into our doors were respectful of our home and very clean. A+
