The last room in our home that needed to updated (after 20+ years) was our master bedroom ensuite. It had originally been carpeted, had a tiny shower, empty bulkheads etc. This had to change. We found Yuriy and Universal House Improvement on HomeStars. After a number of quotes, we took on Yuriy, he was professional, provided good ideas and was flexible. We set a date to start. Yuriy gave us good contacts to shop for tiles, paint, fixtures etc. We purchased our stuff and Yuriy and Milan went to work. They were polite, timely, clean and caused as little disruption to our home as anyone could have. All in all, Yuriy removed our old 72" vanity and installed a new one, with sinks, tap, mirror etc. Installed pot lights and painted the whole room. He removed the carpet (!) and installed our floor tile. Removed our old tub and shower, moved the toilet from one side of the room to the other, removed the bulkhead and installed a beautiful ceramic shower (approx. 25 sq ft) with a window, rain head fixtures, a large niche and arranged for a glass wall/door into the bathroom. Everything is just beautiful, we are thrilled with our new bathroom. Yuriy and Milan have a terrific worth ethic and are highly skilled. Everything was done to perfection (see the attached pictures). Our only issue now is that the most beautiful room in our house is a bathroom!! My wife and I are happily making referrals to Yuriy for our friends, who get the tour of our new ensuite. Well priced, beautifully done and all at the quoted price. I will happily endorse Yuriy to one and all.

I contacted Roofs on Homes as a result of the excellent reviews on HomeStars. I also contacted 2 other local companies. One didn't show up for our appt (out of the running) and the second prepared an estimate about $100 less than Roofs on Homes. However, Danny from R on H took more time with me, explained the work in greater detail, was providing shingles that were warrantied for 50 years (versus 30) and provided a few 'additions' that the other company didn't. So we went with R on H and were totally satisfied. Because they were busy, I was given a time estimate about a month and a half from the date of the quote, with a promise to keep in touch. And Danny did. As we got closer to the date, we communicated more and I was happy to be kept up to date, even balancing weather concerns in. When the day finally arrived, I was notified that the crew was busy finishing another job and would be a couple hours late. Again, happy with the communication. The crew were friendly, very hard working and professional. Because of unpredictable and changing November weather, they actually had to attend over a period of 3 days, but each day they left our home neat, tidy and accessible. The roof looks great, it came in on quote and I am worry free about my roof for the foreseeable future. I heartily recommend Danny and his crew and in fact I have already passed their info onto one of my neighbours. I was certainly impressed by their work and professionalism, but in particular I liked that they came en masse to do the work as quickly and properly, not dragging it out for a longer period with a couple of people working. Again, look no further, you can trust these guys!!

Tired of the drafts coming into the house and having to yank on our back door to exit the house, we called John Gainham at Clera. John came to the house, talked to us about what we wanted, discussed options and made appropriate recommendations and then gave us a very fair quote. We waited for the windows to be made and then, as promised, installation day came. Richard Warren headed up our crew. First thing done was the laying of tarps to protect our floors, then the guys went to work. We had room width windows installed in the kitchen, a bay window done in the living room and large windows installed in the dining and family rooms. Throughout the installation the crew respected our home and not only did a first rate job of installation, but left no mess behind. They even left my garage cleaner than when they arrived. Our windows look great, I have a beautiful rear door that gives us easy access to our backyard and we are thrilled with our completed project. Both John and Richard ensured we knew all of the features in the windows (including easy cleaning access) and promised to return immediately if any problems cropped up. Given the first rate way we were treated, I believe them! I would happily recommend this company (especially John and Richard) to our friends and family!

I called Draincom when my new sink drain was not draining quickly. My call was answered promptly, appt set for the next day and Val arrived right on time, as promised. Val examined the drainage pipes and correctly ascertained that they had not been done by a plumber. He put them back to code with a minimum of fuss, but the drain still did not drain properly. He then snaked out the drain, which made a big difference, solving 90% of the problem. Apparently my venting is not adequate for the drain and there is no real solution. But the drain works much better now and I am happy to say that I trust Val and would happily use him again or recommend him to others.

I contacted Techno after researching for kitchen refacers through HomeStars. They have more than lived up to their billing. Frank came to our home, took his time and listened to our ideas for our kitchen. He then came up with a couple of ideas we hadn't thought of, but respected our plans. All told, he spent about 2 1/2 hours with us, going over everything and presenting a quote. And when we explained that we were also having granite counters, backsplash etc installed and didn't have any contacts in these fields, he offered to put us in touch with people he had worked with and trusted. While waiting for our start date, we kept in contact with Donna at the office, who kept us informed, helped us make decisions on hardware and such, and generally ensured that we were happy throughout the process. Max, the installer, arrived on time as promised and spent a week in our home. He was professional but personable as well. And he did outstanding work. I think every kitchen has little areas that are not what you would want, little gaps or spots where the initial work was a bit shoddy. Without asking Max cleaned these problems up, even addressing issues we had not noticed before. The whole installation was excellent. And at the end of the whole week, Max spent extra time installing our over the range microwave for us. We couldn't be more pleased. All in all, we would recommend Techno to any or our friends or family, I don't know of a higher recommendation. Frank, Donna and Max are a pleasure to work with, charge reasonable rates and give you a kitchen to be proud of.

I contacted John Babus because of his outstanding reviews on HomeStars. He lived up to the hype. We are redoing our kitchen and need rewiring done to install an over the range microwave, new outlets, removal of old electrical lines and under the cupboard lighting. John responded to us quickly, was able to give a quote over the phone and showed up as promised. This was important because of the 'order of operations' in our reno. The work was done well, on time and on budget. And a few weeks later, when I encountered an issue with changing some other plugs in my home, John talked me through it over the phone (for free!), saving me a house call and the associated cost. John is a professional whom I would happily recommend to anyone!

I discovered Bob Scanlan on HomeStars and he lived up to the terrific reviews posted there. Bob showed up personally to examine our backyard and discuss our plans. At our request he made suggestions to enhance our original plans, including the use of an exotic hardwood. Bob then provided a detailed quote, with a structured payment plan and a tentative schedule, explaining that the job would be weather dependent. Bob also served as the general contractor for our backyard, bringing in professionals to handle the concrete patio, lighting and staining. All of these men performed at a high level and to our satisfaction. Bob held himself responsible for their work and he Bob himself readily dealt with any questions or concerns. Our backyard is now beautiful, the envy of our friends and neighbours. The detail in the woodwork, the care in the actual construction and the coordination of the various facets of the project resulted in the end product exceeding our expectations. I heartily recommend Bob (and his son Jason) to anyone needing a deck and coordination of an overall backyard plan. He is easy to work with and provides excellent service to his clients.

Steve exceeded our expectations in repairing our chimney, window ledge and brick work. He is VERY professional and considerate and does excellent work. He is a tradesman you can happily recommend!
