The existing water main shut off in my house was very old (estimating +40 years), and it had started to leak. I found Strong Plumbing on Homestars and liked the reviews that I saw especially because the work on the reviews was exactly what I needed done. Valentin responded to my text immediately and was very honest and upfront about what to expect. He also gave me a price within a couple of texts. I found Valentin very knowledgeable, professional and very personable...he was very kind to my dog! :) I would highly recommend him, and I would most certainly use him again! Thank you very much Valentin!

Our furnace of 25 years finally died, and Mario was able to jump on the project and replace with a new furnace in 1 day - it was still cold outside. For the day without heat - he was kind enough to bring by some plug-in heaters to maintain some warmth. The workmanship was clean and meticulous - the duct work cutting and fitting was well done, they worked quickly and efficiently, and left the place clean when they left. They also took the old furnace away. It was obvious that the crew had been working together for many many years and this team was a well oiled machine. Thank you to Mario and his crew. It was a pleasure to work with them!

Within an hour of posting the service request, Joey called. He said he would come the next morning. The work was completed professionally and quickly and works very well. He had to drill and prep for a new lockset. Thank you Joey.

Jeff reached out to me about this project, and was really interested in completing the work. This was nice to hear as we live in a semi, and the scope included painting the old aluminum siding on side of the house (in a narrow walkway). It was a difficult situation... the ladder didn't have much space to maneuver and required 2 people to navigate for safety. Jeff took it on - no complaining. As the project moved forward, I added more scope and he was very accommodating to take on the additional scope. Once completed, there were touch-ups through-out and again, when I asked him to touch -up here and there, he was happy to accommodate. Jeff and John were pleasant to work with, and the house looks GREAT! Thank you Jeff for all of your hard work!!

We hired Ryan and his company - Eco Exteriors based on his good reviews on Homestars. After reaching out to him, he responded immediately, he met with us in person, and even left some samples with us for review. He looked like a very qualified person, and based on his reviews, it appeared he was a good guy. We gave him our deposit of $3769.00. We also signed a contract that stated that the work would be completed within 6-8 weeks of first deposit. That was last July 2021. I was VERY patient, and VERY reasonable with the delays. It took alot of texting and no-shows after promising to show up, just to get his crew to install SOME strapping and SOME Tyvek house wrap. Then he was MIA again. He said that the Hardi board had not arrived, so we waited patiently, and in the mean time, I asked him if he could replace my gutters (an extra). He made me pay for the material, but offered the labour "as a gesture of good faith because of my patience". But this again was after sending very frustrated texts for literally months. The gutters were done in November. Again I was strung along on the belief that the Hardboard was still delayed, but that he assured me he could still install during the winter months once the material arrived. It took him until March 2022 to finally say there is no material. I told him that I wanted a final meeting to repair the gutter work that he did incorrectly (leaking), and to resolve the outstanding monies. He promised to show up the next day... Of course I wasn't surprised when he didn't show. And of course I wasn't surprised when he never answered my texts. So because he did SOME work, I believe I am out about $2200....not as bad as the others he stiffed, but it's still a chunk of change nonetheless. I believe I was very reasonable and fair with his behaviour and his delays. I am very disappointed that he doesn't even have the decency to take responsibility for his actions, and return monies that are clearly not his. Shame on you Ryan. These actions will come to bite you in the butt...and based on what I saw - it appeared that it has. It's too bad because I think you actually DO know your stuff, and I think you got in over your head with everyone throwing money at you.... It doesn't excuse to take the money and keep it.

I found Allure on Homestars and read all the wonderful reviews with Ryan, so I decided to reach out... I will add that I appreciated that they came out to the house for consultations. Ryan returned my call quickly, and advised me that he would be sending out his colleague Sal in the next few days. Sal was WONDERFUL to work with. He came with so many samples (we had an idea of what we wanted), and we were so appreciative of his advice and feedback. He was very patient with our selections, and he even came back a second time with more samples, when we didn't quite find the right one (for our bedroom drapes). Sal took all the measurements, and of course the installation went seamlessly. We are so happy with the results! With the drapes, our bedroom feels complete. We would highly recommend Allure, and we would definitely use them again. Thank you Sal for all your help.

Nick contacted me quickly when I put out the request for an electrician. Speaking on the phone with him, I immediately had a good vibe - honest, personable, not pushy. We met to go over the dwgs, and review the house...again I felt that good vibe about our meeting...so now it was down to price. I received multiple quotes, and had multiple visits from other electricians. Nick price was in-line with the other quotes, but in terms of personality and "working relationship", I felt most comfortable with Nick, so we decided to proceed with Gibraltar. It was the RIGHT decision. Nick was always available to take my calls when I had questions. I appreciated the honest feedback, when I was unsure about some things (e.g. pot light choices), and when we needed a quick item completed to move ahead with work (like an electrical disconnect, or to install an outlet in a hard to reach area), Nick was quick to respond and was able to show up the same day - THANK YOU! Nick also has the most amazing Lead Electrician - Steve. Calm, collected, knowledgeable, and of course very friendly and a pleasure to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend Gibraltar Electric. Thank you Nick, Steve, and Nick (apprentice). You guys were all amazing.

We wanted a sliding glass door system in our washroom to separate the vanity area from the shower/toilet area - essentially making 2 separate rooms. I had an idea of what I wanted, but it was wonderful to speak with Steve about my ideas - what sliding system to use, whether to go with standard glass, or low iron, thickness of glass etc. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, and his pricing was inline with the other quotes that we received. We decided to proceed with Shower Deluxe. Ryan the specialist that came to measure was very knowledgeable as well - we went over the dimensions as it was a very tight space, and we received shop dwgs for review and approval. The installation was a bit tricky, again because of the very tight space. The installers worked hard and did their best with the limited space conditions, however due to site conditions, the glass was a bit tight to the floor, and as a result the sliding of the door was tough to move. The installer returned to grind down the tile in the very spot where the guide needed to go, so that there was more space for the door to slide. It now works perfectly. We had one hiccup / miscommunication where they installed the floor guide in a spot that I did not want. I now have 2 little holes to repair. However, after working with so many trades, trades that seriously lack in customer service, I can accept this as an honest mistake, and I appreciate that they returned (after they were paid in full) to grind down the tile as mentioned above, to make the sliding door system work better. For that reason, I am happy to give them 10/10. I would definitely use them again.

I reached out to Homestars to find a new security system provider after having the same system for over 20 years. I had the option of sticking with my same provider, going to an alternate provider that was used by my family member or try someone new. I was keeping an open mind to what route we were going to go, and Rhoan promptly reached out and provided top notch advice on what options were available to us. He educated me on going with cameras, or just sticking with a traditional alarmed system. He also explained the options on having the system monitored or not. In no part of our discussions did I feel like he was trying to “push” a sale. In fact he was quite happy to offer a scaled back system and how that could work for our needs. I felt comfortable with Rhoan, I felt he was honest and sincere, and I felt the pricing was fair and reasonable. The installation was also excellent and very professional. The other companies that I reached out to? One wouldn’t return my calls. The other gave me a 3 word sentence email response “$40 per month”. I would recommend Rhoan his company to friends and family in a heartbeat. Thanks so much Rhoan!

I reached out to a number of cleaners and Grace contacted me immediately and came to the house to look at the work and price it. I found the price to be very fair, and reasonable for what I was asking to be done. Grace arrived with a crew, and a truck full of equipment including ladders and a professional carpet cleaner. They cleaned the house from top to bottom including the washrooms, kitchens, my hardwood floors, my carpet runner on the stairs, and the windows inside and out. I was very pleased with the level of detail of the cleaning. Finally she was a JOY to work with! So pleasant, and happy. I would definitely use her again, and recommend her to others. I received multiple quotes, and I decided to go with Alex because his price was fair, he was polite, and I had read his previous reviews which were excellent. Alex was able to complete the work in the timeline that I needed. As the property was a rental, the walls had many nail holes, cracks, and there was a bit of water damage. Alex spent the first day completing all the drywall repairs first, then took the next few days repainting all the walls, ceilings, trim and doors. It looks great!! We are very pleased with the work, and we will definitely be reaching out to him for our next project. Thanks Alex for the excellent job!!

We already had an antenna, but the channels were always cutting out. It was in a precarious location so I wanted a new antenna in a safer location. Dr. Antenna was able to fix our existing antenna (broken cable) and permanently fixed it in place so it will no longer be an issue (losing channels). He didn’t try to upsell me by saying that we needed a new antenna. I found him pleasant to work with, and reasonably priced. I would recommend him to someone if they asked. Great job Dr. Antenna!
