Main floor installation of engineered hardwood

Shortly after the floor was laid we noticed some boards delaminating from the backing. We called Kultur in Belleville who sent an installer and said it was installed too tight to the wall. Another installer was of the opinion it was fine, however, we had boards delaminating (top layer separating from the backing), that had never been installed. There were many email exchanges and I took samples of my floor back to Kultur for testing.... of course the test results came back that it exceeded their quality control. This still didn't stop my delaminating problem, and then discovered the floor actually scratched quite easily, to which Kultur sent me some stain to cover it myself.
A second visit was made by the "service" guy from Kultur who took a small saw and pry bar to TEAR up some boards, which I thought, was for the purpose to replace the delaminating sections.... he left the floor in that condition and for me to replace them myself.
I wrote several emails to the President of the company of which none were answered. The Belleville store sent yet another rep out. I showed him the boards right from the box that was delaminating. He shook his head and asked could he take the sample back with him... I agreed. He was here for no more than 10 minutes.
Shortly after the Belleville store called to say that the last service man said my house was too humid and that it was 89% when he was here. He never took any humidity readings, and besides it was mid January ... how humid could it be ? I explained this to the store rep and she wasn't interested, she just wanted me to admit the floor was installed too tight, but there was no explanation their own floor delaminates itself.... maybe they packed it too tight in the box.
I thought this was a good product, Canadian made, but, would never purchase from them again, nor recommend them to anyone.

Basement Flooring

While we were amidst in the planning of the basement finishing, we were not sure of the flooring. We knew it was going to be hardwood flooring as carpet is hard to keep clean and tiles would be cold(unless you install heated floor (expensive!!). We walked into Kultur, the salesperson was very knowledgable and took time to explain the different types of the engineered Clique flooring. It was perfect for our use as it is tough and not easily scratched. It was easy to install hencing saving us high installation costs. We are very happy with it!

Purchase and Installation of hardwood flooring

The selection they offered was far better than the big box stores. They offered environmenatally friendly products called ecolique, uniquely designed and well-suited for our need lining in a condo.

Their staff were knowledgeable and friendly, overall it was good shopping experience.

Hardwood Floor Installation

I purchased hardwood flooring from Kultur Flooring in Mississauga back in August 2009. I dealt with both John and Robert Kember. Robert was responsible for installation, which was done by his installer Victor in October 2009.

A couple of months later a gap formed between two floor boards at the doorway to my room. I called Kultur and was told to buy a humidifier and see if that would help. I did, in fact I put 2 humdifiers in the room and nothing happened. I called back a few times and eventually spoke with Robert who sent out the original installer Victor to take a look. Victor told me they needed a part to fix the problem and would be back ina couple of weeks. This was March/April 2010. No one ever came and I didn't receive any responses to my inquiries. The gap disappeared in the summer weather but was back again in the fall/winter. I contacted Robert again and heard back from him in January 2011. He told me that he would arrange a time with the installer to come out and fix the problem and would call me back in a couple of days. I never heard from him again and it's now April 2010.

I've sent numerous emails and called many times. My faxes were rejected and then I could no longer leave nessages at the store as the mailbox was full. It looked like the store on Dundas was gone and I tracked Robert to the Oakville location of Kultur Flooring. So I sent him an email and fax there and still no response. It's now a year and a half later and I still have a gap in the floor. This morning I sent another email to advise that I would be registering a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Ministry of Consumers Services. If I still hear nothing I'll have a lawyer friend contact them.

I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. The floors are beautiful but once they're installed you can be sure that they won't care at all about correcting any problems with their installation or flooring. Their warranty is meaningless. Do yourself a favour and go with another company or at the very least another location because you will wish you had if anything at all goes wrong. The disregard I've experienced dealing with Mr. Kember is like nothing I've ever experienced before.

replaced carpet with wood floor

We actually went to the Oakville store before this one reopened and the lady there was very helpful with colours and styles So we knew what we wanted going in which made it easier. I will add that Rob did respond to our e-mails and phone calls before and after purchasing the floors. We had someone else install them, a friend of a friend kind of deal. Both locations are great for the simple fact that there is a toy area for kids to play in, this made life a lot easier for us. We picked a maple in riesling that matches oak staircases very well.
The wood floors were really nice and we have been happy with them.

Home Renovation

We checked out a lot of flooring companies before deciding to buy our wood flooring from this company. They provided a lot of information regarding the drying process the wood goes through and had a very good price on some sale flooring that we chose. The quality is very good and we had very little problems with pieces that we couldn't use due to imperfections.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Their hours are not the most consumer friendly. They were closed on the Sunday of a long weekend without notice.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?

Engineered Hardwood Floors

The staff person in the actual Factory store located in Toronto (Simone) was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Very informative, friendly and professional.
She is a large part of the reason they got my buisness.

After my product was ordered, the Manager (rob) insisted that I have their staff come to my house to measure the area that the hardwood was to place in, so as to be sure! He had stated either he or his staff would be out! He then booked an appt on a holiday Monday, and still insisted that even though it was a holiday, the staff would be working.

Well, the day came and went and no one called or came to my house!

In addition, on the day of instalation, again they were a no show! In fact, i was not adivsed until 3pm that day after waiting some 7 hrs that they were not coming at all! This was the second day of no shows.

They finally showed up the next day!

The staff who did come did a great job installing, with the exception of dropping glue on several places on the floor which i have idea how to get off!!!!

As well one of the wood stair headers was cracked! When I pointed it out, I was told they would glue it, and it would be fine! I then advised them that NO they would replace it!

I called the Manager (Rob) to discuss my customer service issues and to this day some 4 weeks after installation, and 3 emails, he has yet to pick up the phone and call me, return a call or email or follow up.......

I would not give this company my buisness again
