Lacks Accountability

AVOID THIS COMPANY: I would highly advise against using this company.
Dan is a very kind man and I wish things played out differently. Unfortunately when we hired him we had a lot of moving parts in relation to our move and because our home was not ready at the time of delivery we asked Dan to drop our belongings to a storage facility as we could not keep them on the premise of our new space yet. Dan delivered our belongings to a storage facility, placed the unit under his
name and never made the change even after we paid him in full for the service. Shortly after our unit was broken into due to the lock being misplaced by Dan (no one had been to the unit besides him). Police contacted Dan to inform him of this break-in and we were never informed by him of such a thing happening. I have lost personal belongings, items for our toddler, wedding memorabilia and so much more. When I reached out to Dan after being contacted by the police he failed to take any sort of responsibility or acknowledge the violation of personal space we had just endured. I
did request a partial refund because I understand he is a small business and want to respect that hes got bills to pay. Dan stated for me to ask for anything is stupid and
he would not be doing any such thing. Theres insurance.. the unit was never transferred into my name after completing the delivery which means he was legally responsible for the storage facility and its contents still.
Considering how emotionally exhausting moving can be and having entrusted someone with all of your life essentially and to have them be so closed off, rude, unwilling to carry a
conversation or take responsibility for where they went wrong is why I rated him a 1 star. Save yourself the headache. There are better companies out there.

Dan is not someone Id recommend working with. EVER. His company policies he doesnt even honour them himself.

Navy seal Dan is nooooot the man

Dan says what you want to hear, but pay careful attention and you quickly realize how this gentleman feeds you lye after lye. (They won't let me write the word on here) Starts with a light came on in my truck and I had to get a rental. (Found out he has done a couple previous moves with rental) meh the guy has to run a hustle i get it. Now the move is postponed from 9am to 9pm. He needs money for accommodations for his guys, shows up by himself claiming the two guys that were supposed to help were working so they sent their cousins. While working proceeds to tell me how nice the weather is and that the guys that were supposed to help went camping,(wait weren't they working) starts doing push-ups in the living room asking everyone to watch and tells the helpers that's why they shouldn't consume sugar. I offer him bottles of water he asks for cans of iced tea. (Sugar).
I tell him I only care about 4 items out of 1000. Two are broken. No response since.shows up at new home at 930 pm. Bc to alberta. Unloads truck by 1 am. On a Tuesday. ( because of his changed schedule. Great way to greet your new neighbors.)gives me a damge report. Broken wheel on barbecue. (Prior to loading it tells me how he always loads them.in the back and the wheel breaks, repeats with mine)
Tries carrying down a piece of excersise equipment in to basement. Absolutly ruins the wall. ( I removed three screws with a Allen key and carried it down no issues)tells me he has come with 50 blankets runs out after 10. Do not buy in to his I only care about customer satisfaction routine. He says it waaay too often. That's actually what triggered me to pay close attention. The guy is a social path. Now he said he would reimburse me 200 dollars on over 1000 dollars in damage and financial losses due to missing a reservation because of the sudden time change, then trying to find a pet friendly hotel in the middle of nowhere to try and get a couple of hours of sleep because you and your family have been driving all night. As well as me helping g them load and unload just to get this guy out of my space. I fell for his gimmick, and I know better. This guys smooth peoe watch out.

Absolutely horrible experience.

I had gotten a quote before booking my appointment - $125/hr for 2 guys + truck for moving (minimum 2hrs) which included all equipment needed for moving. I thought that was a great price and the practices of the company seemed great - booked right there.

Day of the move - got a call from the owner letting me know he was changing his business practices because "he wasn't making money" - fine, at least I still had the movers coming.
Movers showed up in a Uhaul truck with no strap downs or no dollies/trollies for moving because they said those things would slow them down. They ended up using the dollies that I had on hand because they realized that it would be faster that way.

Once it was time to leave the old house to the new house, they movers disappeared for 30-45minutes (distance between houses was 10mins away). They took a break that they neglected to let us know they were doing which was concerning since they had all my belongings in the truck.

Something they don't tell you in the quoting process is that they will not unload your items until they are paid - which doesn't make sense because there is no way to assess damages or how long it will take to finish moving. But they have all your items, you are strapped there. They also tacked on +1 hour for the moving (so really a 3hr minimum) for travel time.

When it came to moving my items, they almost knocked down 3 light fixtures because they were not paying attention to where they were going, one mover was constantly on talking and texting on his phone, one mover damaged a chest due to their handling (throwing things around in the truck), and ran the dresser into the bed frame - which was thrown onto the front lawn. When all items were damaged, the movers first initial reaction was to blame myself - no accountability for their reckless actions on moving that resulted in the damaged items. When I spoke up about the damaged items, I was told "I was a piece of work" from the movers.

After the move was completed, I had 3 damaged items and we were finished 30minutes before anticipated which resulted in me overpaying by this point. When I called for make sure I would be refunded for this money I had over payed and reimbursed for the damaged items, the owner told me he didn't have the money to refund me and I would be lucky to see the money next week, if at all. He continued to use harsh language and shouting to get his points across that his business was failing and I was lucky to even have movers move me (after I had booked this appointment 2 months in advance). When I used the same tone that he had used with me, I got told he would hang up because he did not appreciate being disrespected that way - but that was the only time I was able to get a word in edge-wise.

A comprise was made finally that I would be refunded the half hour that I overpaid (which he disputed it was impossible to move that fast) and $50 only for the damages. I accepted as I wanted to be done with the company. When the refund came, it was only $81.25 - not what was agreed too (should have been $112.50).

If you are thinking about moving - I highly suggest using NOT using Navy Seal Transport. It was a massive slap-in-the-face for what should have been an exciting, easy day. Horrible customer service, horrible moving skills, horrible experience.

My terrible experience with Navy Seal Transport

Regarding my experience with Navy Seal Transport - Calgary, AB.

In 2021 we opted to downsize to a smaller home as many of you may be considering. I would like to share our experiences with a Calgary Based Moving Company. I would encourage you all to read this and share with anyone you think may be interested. There are photos included and copies of text messages. Please consider this information when you are preparing for any moving plans that you, your colleagues or your friends may have. This company was a BBB Accredited business which was part of the reason we hired them.

The move was from a home in NW Calgary to another home in NW Calgary about a 10 min drive.

On June 21, 2021 we hired Navy Seal Transport called me to discuss how they are a customer focused company and have two goals …. (1) Problem free move and (2) customer service is paramount.

They were booked for a July 30, 2021 move out day and an August 1, 2021 move in day. They explained that because they were so busy and his trucks so in demand that he would need to rent a truck for our move. That seemed reasonable and we were happy with this plan.
Over the next month we updated specific details of our move to the Navy Seal Transport secure web site. We counted boxes and measured items. They knew exactly what was needed with our move. We identified two “large/heavy items” that may difficult. A treadmill and a large
handmade wooden dining room table. They assured me they were experts, and they would be well prepared for all.
5 days before the move:

Emailed pictures of the large bolts that were needed to be removed to dismantle the table via
email.
1 day before move:

Call from Navy Seal Transport – Called to say the crew was late returning from a BC move and they would like an extra hour sleep. He asked if we ok with a 60 min later than planned start. We agreed no problem. We bought a case of water and filled with ice for the movers as it was a hot day.

Moving day:
The truck and movers arrived on time. Right away we figured the truck was too small. The movers then told us “there are no tools” and said wow this is a large table and wow we didn’t know you had a treadmill. The movers did not have tape and ran out of blankets about 2 hours
into the move.

As expected, the truck was too small and needed to be loaded, unloaded, loaded and unloaded
again.
On move in day. NO TRUCK
Truck arrived to the wrong address - truck was empty
Truck arrived to the correct home - truck was empty
Navy Seal eventually called saying they cannot access the storage location because they inadvertently sent the storage site keys to another city. They asked If we could wait till tomorrow to move in (we are now into the work week). They did offer $100 in compensation to pay for a hotel/meals. They also reported staff had contracted COVID 19 - but his movers were quite surprised with this claim.

At this time, they claimed I was abusive to his staff. I ended my call.

Navy Seal Transport also lost our treadmill tools and equipment needed to rebuild and requested we rebuilt it ourself.

Damage:
Cracked 70” television
Groves in handmade wooden table
Peloton treadmill with lost parts and tools
Rip in leather sofa
Glass table scratched.
Damaged fireplace

The company report having standard insurance of .50 cents per pound. They offered $600 in compensation for damage and the aforementioned $100 for inconvenience (which we did not use) for the extra day wasted. This $600 offer was contingent on me not posting any online comments or reviews. We refused. They indicated the company was short of capital. We did make a rebuttal offer asking for a replacement TV and would walk away from all other issues and provided them till October 2021 given their money problems.

Please share with your friends and family and anyone you think may be looking for a moving company - specific to Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC.
