Appliance Repairman

I always check HomeStars when I use someone new. I didn't and boy did I pay for nothing!! Appliance Repair Guys always win and from what I have read, seldom deliver. My Whirlpool washing machine wasn't working properly and rather than spend $1,000 to buy new I thought I would try getting it repaired. The way they do it is to charge $280 as a service call. It isn't presented that way but that is what is charged. On top of that is whatever parts are needed. Within a couple of weeks the machine was not working again. Now they want to replace the motor - its always $500. Know that if you use this company it will be more money than going out and buying something new. I have refused this newest add on of a new motor which I priced at $145.00...their price for motor and installation $534.32. I am now going out to buy a new washing machine. If I had gone along with their wanting to install a new motor having my 27 year old washing machine fixed would have cost $1000.00. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I wish I would have come here like I usually do.

Do NOT trust this company! They will charge you $80 dispatch fee; then they will trick you to sign a contract worth $316.40 on the promise to fix your appliance on the spot; only to tell you 10 minutes later that the appliance actually cannot be fixed and that they will have to come for a second visit, for which, of course, you have to pay separately, plus any parts they would need to order for you. Before you know it, you will be spending a thousand dollars to get your appliance working again. In our case, we would end up paying more than the cost of a new dishwasher since we were told that our dishwasher needs a new Main Control Board. Customer service refuses to let you speak to a manager or an owner. In fact, after we refused to pay the technician, upon leaving, he threatened us that we will be dealing with a collection agency.

Was told $80 for service call. Told them that LG said it was the sensor board. After he checked everything else at a charge for each part checked, he said it was the sensor board and it would cost $745. We then had to pay $316 for the service call for him checking the other parts. It seems everyone gets charged $316. Will never use them again. He only worked on it for an hour. $316 per hour is outrageous! Still need it fixed but will find a reputable company.

I have an LG fridge the board is fried. They came and charged m $280 to verify that it was the board that was a problem and told me if cost $600 for a new one, it take one month to get I am a 30 day warranty LG came everything cos $400 and they did not th next day never use appliances repair guys.

I called them to fix my washing machine they told me 80 to come out. The guy said ok I can fix this it is just a clogged pump it will be an additional 200 and something. He left 15 minutes later and then the first time i used my washing machine it stopped working all together. I of course had to now go out and buy a new washing machine. I called the company they refused to return my money I asked for a refund of everything except the 80 they charged me to come out. I am not an unfair person. I have had noting but hassles from them since. I strongly advise before you use then read everyone's comments I wish I had .

UPDATE: I had another company come in to repair the dishwasher. 15 minutes, no parts, $120. Working like new!!!! They told me they do 4 calls a week from people who use this company. They said the appliancerepairguys.ca do not even have technicians working for them. I was shocked to see how fast it was to fix with some knowledge. Also i was quoted for a part from this company, $300-800.... where the company that came today told me the part they wanted was $24.99!!!

Wow... i wished I looked at homestars first! All the reviews are dead on. They were the first result on google so I called them. On the phone they explained that there would be an $80 charge for an assessment, and that would be misused from the repair.

They didn't come and do an assessment, within 2 minutes he told me to repair it the cost will be 280+HST.

After 10 minutes he said that it can't be fixed without parts and installation of parts.

This is to a T what the reviews on homestars say. I had a second repair person come in and they were able to fix the dishwasher in under 20 minutes with no parts. They said they would call on Monday first thing with how long the part would take and they never called.

Not only do these guys not know what they are doing, they clearly are a hustle to make money and hope you don't call them back.

My fridge stopped working on a Thursday evening, and my usual repair service wasn't available until the following Thursday. I called this company, and was quoted $80 for a Sunday service call that would be refunded if a repair was necessary. The young technician came, poked around my fridge, and told me that I would have to pay $280 + tax. before he could tell me exactly what needed to be fixed and give me full estimate. What a joke!!! I told him that I have never done business this way, and ended up signing the contract - the joke was clearly on me, He finished his inspection and presented me with a $880 estimate for parts and labour. I refused any more service, but was still out $280 + tax. Then I read the reviews, which I should have done first. Long story short, I read the reviews for Cascade Appliance Service, and Steve and Linda were fantastic!! My fridge is fixed and I would call them again in a heartbeat. My next review will be a 10/10 for them.

Dryer not working. Was told the charge was $80 plus parts. No mention of $280 minimum labour fee plus parts. When technition arrived he said he needed another technition to help him take down the stackable dryer at an extra charge of $80. First he said he thinks it is a temperature fuse at $125, then he said a morherboard at an extra $500, then he said the washer would also need to be replaced as stackables are fitted as a set. With that I sent him on his merry way. I feel ripped off for not being told about the minimum labour fee of $280 or asked questions about needing another technition. While Nick the repair guy kept his cool the person on the phone was rude and curt and told me I had to pay the service charge or it will go to collections. Linda in toronto

WARNING!!! Do not use this company. We asked the appliance guys to come out and fix our dishwasher. $290 and 2 hours later. He said we needed a part + install for $500. to fix it 3 weeks later came in and installed the part and then said that didn't fix it and they needed another $1400 to fix it. We could buy a new dishwasher for that. We are now out $500 and no dishwasher. THe company wont refund anything. I cant believe this company is still in business. We should of looked at Homestars reviews before we called. It sounds like its happened to alot of people.

I called this APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS for repairing my washer.
None repairs has been done but being charged over $300 for so call cost of labour plus fees and my machine was left in the state the technician found it in.
I will file a complain against this dishonest company with BBB 1-800 459-8875 and consumer protection Ontario 416-326-8800
I will never recommend this company to any one instead I hope god help us to shut this company down!!!!
