Hosed us for a BBQ hose connecting BBQ to Gas Line

Lee was onsite connecting a gas line to a pool heater. Once he was done I asked if he could take a look at our BBQ as I could smell gas. He said it just needed a new hose and then offered to replace it (as he likely had one in his truck). Appreciative of the offer, I accepted. It took him 5 min and he then asked for $180. When I confronted him about it he said that he gave me a discount because if I had called someone to look into the BBQ it would have cost me $200 for the visit. The fact that he was already onsite didn't matter!! He is extremely unethical and unprofessional. I could have purchased the hose online for $40 and changed it myself.
Do yourself a favour and DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. He should be out of business with the way he treats his customers.

Don't be deceived a seemingly nice man named Lee of Lutech

In 2010, I was young, vulnerable, and naive. My contractor hired Lee of Lutech to move my water tank for $800 to create space for a basement apartment. Everything went smoothly until a day later. My boiler kept shutting off so the house did not have heat or hot water. (My boiler is a high efficiency European system that supplies both heat and hot water.)

Lee couldn't fix the problem that he created. For the next 3 weeks, I had to call several companies but no one could figure out what was wrong.

Finally, I called the manufacturer who recommended a technician. Lee was there when the technician came. He promised me that he will pay me back for the repairs. He even said that he will watch so he can learn.
But shortly after, Lee excused himself and said that he had to leave. That was the last I saw or heard from him.

After troubleshooting for several hours to no avail, the technician started to dismantle the connections. (Please see first picture below.) It was then that he discovered a white rubber in the pipes! This object was blocking the water from reaching the boiler and causing it to shut off to prevent overheating. It was such a bizarre mistake up that no one ever imagined it. Everyone was left puzzled as to why a brand new boiler (installed less than a year) kept shutting off despite being in perfect condition.

The repair bill came close to $3,500+. The original job just costs only $800 but my contractor had already paid Lee. So I had no recourse to go after him. I tried calling him several times. But like I said, I never ever saw or heard from Lee ever again.

The aftermath was painful. Because there was no hot water and heat for 3 weeks, the tenants became very angry. They took me to court so I had to hire a lawyer for this. I also had to hire a property manager because the relationship become hostile with one of the tenants being very aggressive towards me.

Total cost: Original cost to move water tank: $800, Repairs: $3,500+, Rent Rebates: $1,000+, Property Manager: $1,500+ (6 months), Lawyer $700+ = $7,500+.

That's not the end of the story. So today, after almost 8 years, I saw his truck parked in my (new) neighborhood as he was doing work for one of my neighbors. I confronted him and he pretended not to remember.

Do not believe the other good reviews. They were just lucky. The probability of this man making a mistake is BIG. The repairs and the aftermath are costly. The worse part is that he has no skill to fix what he breaks and no integrity to stand by his promises.

I'm not one to write reviews and was a long time ago but seeing him today makes me feel sick to know that this person is still out there. Reading other reviews made me think that had I wrote a review about him years ago, that may have prevented him from taking advantage of other people.

PLEASE DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR. AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS. HE LOOKS LIKE A GENTLE, NICE GUY BUT BEWARE! AS THE OTHER REVIEWER SAY, "LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING."

Moving our has meter. P.s. don't listen to those other reviews!

We had Lee over to do some exterior pipe work done to move a gas meter. He was very professional and worked very well alongside enbridge in order to get this done the most cost effective and time efficient as possible. Everything was to code and very well installed. He was able to come out within a half hour to get there in the 4 hour window enbridge gives you.

Don't listen to the cowards that posted anonymously. Remember that for every negative post there could be twenty great (non reviewed) experiences!

Thanks Lee!

Lutech Gas Services

Beware of "Hi, my name is Lee", Lutechgasservice.com, Lutechcomfortair.com and various other names used by Lee.

Unprofessional, unethical, and negligent. Overcharges for everything and doesn't even go through the most basic requirements expected of a licensed technician.

My AC was stopping intermittently for no clear reason. Lee charged me $124.30 to visit, and charged me $791 to replace my furnace motor. I didn't know anything about AC diagnostics, and later realized he didn't bother to perform the basic safety checks. I have used Lee for many years, without realizing that he was shortchanging me big time.

My AC stopped working again a couple of weeks after Lee had "serviced" the unit in late July. Lee wanted me to pay him to come over another visit. This time, good sense prevailed and I called someone else, and that guy charged me $90, and he found that my refrigerant gas remaining was only 25%, the rest had leaked out. The drainage pipe from the furnace/coil was completely blocked. The current reading (amperes) to the compressor would fall close to zero within a few seconds of starting the AC. The copper tube connecting the external unit to the coil installed two years ago by Lee was of a smaller (incorrect) diameter. Lee never used any diagnostic instruments and never carried out the most basic tests like blowing into the drainage pipe to check if it was blocked.

Stay away, people! Find a better technician.

Note: The website listed on his invoice shows "Lutechcomfortair.com", but his public website is "Lutechgasservice.com".

Hook up gas line, Furnace maintenance

We recently moved into a house and found out that the gas line outside was not installed to code (previous owners had a flexible gas pipe that went under the deck and into the ground and round the house). Lee was able to help us re-direct the gas pipe and he installed a gas hook up for our gas BBQ, as well as our new gas stove. He also did maintenance work on our furnace and re-wired the humidifier which was totally wired wrong and never worked (it was there for over 6 years!). Lee was knowledgeable, courteous and did a great job. He responded quickly to our needs and stayed late until the job was done. We would definitely recommend him to our family and friends.

Furnance Repair

His name is Lee - looks and sounds friendly but looks can be deceiving. My furnace broke down two days before our family was moving. He came to fix my furnace and charged me $158.00 for a Honeywell IS2 pressure switch and another $30.00 to get it. I researched online and found 10 to 15 websites selling it for $45.00. I asked him for an invoice and he said "I DON'T HAVE TO SHOW YOU ANYTHING!" I said 'fine' and asked him to tell me where his supplier was so I could check for myself to which he replied "THAT'S MY BUSINESS!" I had no problem with the labour and diagnostic charges but I suspected he was ripping me off for the part and pickup so I just wanted verification. I told him I would gladly pay for everything except for the part and pickup until he showed some proof. Instead of putting me at ease and showing me some semblance of proof, he used one of his real estate contacts to find the buyer of my house, he then contacted that person and their lawyer and threatened to sue them if I didn't pay. Because of the massive financial implications of not closing on time, I was forced to pay. This is the kind of thing this person is capable of. I can't say he deceives everyone but he deceived me and therefore you have no reason to think he won't deceive you. Look elsewhere.

water line for fridge

He came and installed a waterline for my fridge, used quality parts and not the do it yourself kits which tend to leak more overtime with PEX piping. Very knowledgeable and friendly.
