DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY - INCOMPETENT - DISHONEST!!!

I CALLED THE "APPLIANCE REPAIR TEAM" (GTA LOCATION) FOR WHAT I MICROWAVE PROBLEM (IT STILL HAD POWER BUT WOULD NOT TURN ON) - THEY TOLD ME THAT IF THEIR TECH WAS NOT ABLE TO REPAIR THE MICROWAVE THEY WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME $80+HST (BASIC SERVICE CALL FEE) WHICH I THOUGHT WAS FAIR. SO THE REPAIR GUY SHOWED UP SAME DAY - HE IMMEDIATELY DIAGNOSED IT AS AN ELECTRONIC DOOR SWITCH PROBLEM AND HE SAID IT WAS A VERY SIMPLE FIX - HE WORKED ON THE MICROWAVE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES - HE COULDN'T FIX IT - HE THEN GAVE ME A QUOTE FOR A NEW MAIN BOARD AND THE COST OF THE BOARD (WITHOUT LABOUR) WAS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE COST OF A NEW MICROWAVE - I SAID FORGET IT AND I ASKED HIM FOR THE BILL TO SETTLE UP THINKING IT WAS JUST THE STANDARD SERVICE FEE ($80+HST) BUT INSTEAD HE GIVES ME A BILL WHICH INCLUDED AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR A REPAIR AND A PART THAT DIDN'T FIX THE MICROWAVE - HE SAID THAT HE INSTALLED A REPLACEMENT DOOR SWITCH (NOT TRUE) BUT ALL HE DID WAS SPLICE 2 WIRES TOGETHER AND THE MICROWAVE STILL DIDN'T WORK. THE TOTAL BILL CAME TO $300 (INCLUDING HST) WHICH I REFUSED TO PAY BUT I DID PAY THE AGREED-ON DIAGNOSIS/SERVICE FEE ($80+HST) AND THEN I DISPOSED OF THE STILL BROKEN/UNUSABLE MICROWAVE. I CALLED THE MAIN OFFICE OFFICE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SUB-PAR SERVICE CALL - THEY WERE TOTALLY UNSYMPATHETIC AND THREATENED TO SEND A COLLECTIONS COMPANY AFTER ME IF I DIDN 'T PAY THE MINOR BALANCE (JUST OVER $200). THIS IS THE WORST APPLIANCE COMPANY ON THIS PLANET AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DO NOT CALL THE APPLIANCE REPAIR TEAM FOR ANY APPLIANCE SERVICE WHATSOEVER - IN MY OPINION, BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE AND FROM THE OTHER HOMESTARS REVIEWS - IF YOU DO USE THE "APPIANCE REPAIR TEAM" YOU WILL REGRET IT!! NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVE AN EXTREMELY LOW HOMESTARS RATING. - DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT - CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF. NOTE TO MYSELF - I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED OUT THE "APPLIANCE REPAIR TEAM" WITH HOMESTARS BEFORE CALLING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. LIVE AND LEARN.

Avoid them

A technician showed up in a couple of hours and charged us $80 for dispatch. The guy didn't even bother to open the fridge door and said the problem was with the board. Their quote was two times more than the others. We agreed since he promised to fix the fridge the same day. He said that they have the board in the office. When he returned in the evening, he said he had brought the wrong board. Charged us $300 extra because of nothing. The customer service was so rude and hung up the phone on me.

Never call this company

Unfortunately, there are no negative stars to rate this business. The technician has a script to diagnose what's "wrong" with your appliance. We called them to fix a microwave because the breaker was tripping. The technician unscrewed the microwave's front cap and immediately said the problem was the board, just by looking at it. To fix it will cost $425. When I told the technician that it is better to buy a new one, the technician (Connor) said that changing the switches for $290 + taxes will solve the problem.
We trusted the technician, but the appliance stopped working two days later. We called the company and booked an appointment on warranty, and after changing the dates/ hours 3 times on their side, they booked a revision appointment between 1:00 -3:00 p.m.
The technician showed up at 12:35 p.m., saying they can show up at any time. Totally unprofessional and rude. The problem continues unsolved.
To all who can read this, please avoid using the services.

Incompetent technician didn't seem to understand refridgeration

On Tuesday Aug. 9th an Appliance Repairteam technician, Olivia, looked at my Samsung fridge. The initial quote was for $80 to do a service call. Upon arrival, this technician informed me that to properly diagnose the problem, she would have to open the machine at a cost of $280. I signed a form based on a verbal agreement that she would be able to diagnose the issue and repair it with the cost of the parts being extra. I advised her that the freezer compartment was working fine but that refrigerator compartment wasn't cooling properly although the fan could be heard running. She was unable to provide any assessment of the problem and showed no understanding of that type of fridge. At the time she did not attempt to access a Samsung repair manual or even a schematic of the fridge mechanics online.

She asked us to remove the cabinets from the freezer compartment which we did. She then accessed the system mechanical systems by removing a panel at the rear of this compartment. The technician initially came to the conclusion that the condenser needed to be recharged because there was no frost or ice on the evaporator. My son explained that this diagnosis didn't make sense since ice wouldn't be expected to form on a properly functioning evaporator. Moreover she was looking at the evaporator for the freezer compartment which was working fine.

We initially suggested that there may be a problem with the fan to the refrigeration compartment. At this point she asked if we wanted her to replace the motor on the fan. When asked about other possible sources of malfunction like the thermostat or relay switch, she appeared to be confused. In response to a question about the relay switch all she could say was that the power supply to the fridge was working, not appearing to understand the purpose of a relay switch (and having failed to notice that the power cord was in fact seriously frayed). She then asked my son which part he wanted her to replace. She seemed to have no understanding of refrigeration.

She left after only looking at the mechanical system for the freezer compartment and at that point she provided no diagnosis regarding the problem. At no time did she look at the mechanical system for the fridge compartment which was where the malfunction was occurring.

I gather from a review of other reviews, which I should have consulted before contacting this fraudulent firm, that my experience is not the exception.

TERRIBLE company!!!

Waited over 2 months for parts to come in. When the technician came to finally fix my oven, he said he couldn't. Spoke with the "manager" ILONA and she was incredibly rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. I can't believe someone with her lack of skills and unprofessionalism is in charge. Appliance Repair Team, you have a lot to improve on.

I had to pay around $300 just for someone to come and look at it. Spent over $700 to order the parts. Waited 2 months for the parts to come in. The technician didn't even know how to fix it when he arrived. The manager should be fired! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

STAY AWAY!

Shady company, poor business practices that are consistent with others experience. Technician told us that the error code on the dishwasher indicated a leak. He worked on the dishwasher, placed it back into position under the counter uneven and crooked refusing to correct it. He said the dishwasher was fixed, he said we had a 30 day warranty, he said if the dishwasher breaks AGAIN that we would need a part that cost more than $1600. He requested payment of $327. The dishwasher never worked once after he said he worked on it.
Before paying my husband had repeated "the dishwasher is fixed". The technician stated out loud, 'yes the dishwasher is fixed". He was very inaccurate and misleading in his communication. The company was notified that the dishwasher was never fixed. The management told me very clearly that they will always 'have their employees back' and then she hung up on me.
The Better Business Bureau has this company flagged, 1 star review, and is rated an F. I wish I looked into this company more before attempting to use their services.

Update - Since the original review post I have been quoted a fee for the part from two other repair companies for $92. That is a huge difference for the $1600 quote!!!

Don't go near this company

Same as everyone else. They come in, tell you that you need a part, walk out with $300. No fix or solution. Cash or debit should tell you enough.
Stay away.

WORST experience I've ever had!

My dishwasher door wouldn't shut.

I am fairly handy but I decided to have a professional come and take a look. I can't tell you how much I regret calling Appliance Repair team. From the rude, condescending "office manager" to the incapable technician who came to my house, this company is a disaster from top to bottom.

I acknowledge that I'm the one who didn't do my own due diligence. Had I just looked at a few reviews, I would never have chosen to hire this company. Lesson learned!

Here's what happened - Technician shows up, tells me he will fix whatever needs to be fixed during that visit, provided no new replacement parts needed to be ordered. Prior to doing anything, I paid him $271. He then spent 10 minutes looking at the dishwasher, WITHOUT taking the inner panel off. I was then presented with a quote for an additional $346.06 for a new lock with switches. This was simply too much money so I declined to have the repair done. So, the technician was here for less than 30 minutes and I was charged $271 and nothing was fixed.

After the technician left, I decided to take a look for myself. I removed the inner panel from the dishwasher, disconnected the switches and it took me 5 minutes to make an adjustment to the locking mechanism. It simply got stuck in the wrong position. My dishwasher works perfectly fine.

Do not hire this company to do any work. How they are still in business is shocking to me.

Dryer Repair

I was visited by an Appliance Repair Team technician twice in September to inspect my relatively new Samsung dryer. On the first visit, we were quoted and charged for repairs to the control board and heating assembly. This total came to $536. We also discussed the pros and cons of repairing the dryer versus purchasing a new dryer extensively with the technician. Ultimately we went with the repair because he sold us on the warranty program and assured us that repairs to the same parts would be covered in the future. The dryer worked for one cycle and then broke again. The same technician came again, this time more than a week later because it was a warranty call, and again quoted repairs to the control board and heating assembly. The total for this visit was again $536.

After weeks of negotiating with their customer service team, which regularly dropped calls, failed to return my calls and treated me with little respect, I came to an agreement with a manager to pay for the parts for a second time but at a discounted rate. I explained that this agreement was again conditional on a quick turnaround as i have now been without a dryer going on a month.

More than a week has passed and today I received a call from the Appliance Repair Team. They informed me that their parts team was just submitting the order and will not honour the discount promised to me by the first manager, claiming that he was not properly trained for his role. Not only have they not submitted my order for over a week, but they are now quoting me an additional $800+ for the same parts.

Needless to say this is has been a terrible customer service experience and I am still waiting for my dryer to be repaired.
