Home Inspections 4 U

Yuri did a home inspection for us about two weeks ago. My feedback is mixed - see below.

Positive side:
First of all, Yuri identified a serious issue (Kitec plumbing in a renovated part of the house) and pointed out that, basically, it makes the house uninsurable.
Also, Yuri came at a very short notice, thoroughly inspected the house, answered all our questions, and produced a detailed and clear report.

Worrisome side:
In general, my impression is that for Yuri making the process of selling/buying a house less stressful for his clients is not among his priorities.
We were surprised to find out that our broker and Yuri were in an open personal conflict. It’s OK, not all people get along well. But I found myself in a situation when I had to explain to Yuri the specifics of our transaction (owners are old people concerned about COVID and their agent is their daughter, who strongly protects their interests), and to ask him to follow the protocol established by the owners and their agent. It helped to some extent…

This review was long overdue as the service was completed last year. I apologies it took so long. I needed to change the furnace and my heating contractor recommended I get an energy inspection to be eligible for the rebate from Enbridge. He gave me the name of Yuri. Turns out Yuri were a home inspector who inspected my house when I bought it 4 years ago. I was very happy with his service at that time. And now I can confirm that he is a very knowledgeable energy inspector as well. He provided an impeccable service explaining every upgrade that I had to do. I didn’t know that I had to do other upgrades to qualify for the rebate. Yuri laid out all my options and explained in great detail the benefits of replacing water heater tank with tankless unit and improving air leakage in the house. He also conducted pressure test using specialized equipment and pointed out areas where the house was losing heat. After all the work was completed he conducted a follow up visit to verify all the upgrades and submitted application to Enbridge on my behalf. When buying a home it pays to get yourself the best home inspector you can find. I did a lot of research and decided that Yuri would be the best man for the job. And indeed he was. We contacted Yuri to have a whole house inspection with thermo imaging for our piece of mind. Yuri was very detailed through out his inspection, and provided us lots of knowledge and information. I was impressed by the fact that even though there was snow on the roof he still managed get up to the roof to inspect a problematic area. Great work and really loved his detailed report which we think we can use as a benchmark.
