Appliances

After cancelling an order for 5 Appliances at Goemans, I took my invoice to Nickerson's Appliances in St. Catharines. They matched all of the prices and provided exceptional customer service. They were geniuinely concerned about my experience and situation and were in constant communication to ensure I recieved my appliances as quickly as possible. If there were any problems they assured me that they work with manufacturer to address them. Check them out - full range of appliances (I thought they were high-end - but they carry everything).

Kitchen Upgrade

Purchased all new Bosch kitchen appliances from the Stoney Creek store, and sales rep (Norm) offered to 'upgrade' our cooktop to a 'newer' model which he swore was identical to the one I selected. When appliances arrived and were unpacked, noticed that the 'newer' model did not at all looked like what I selected. Contacted sales rep, was promised follow up which never came. Contacted store manager (Brett), even less eager to help. Had to contact Bosch myself to find out that the model I wanted was no longer available, and was also able to find out that a new model was being phased in that looks the same - why wasn't Goemans able to get this information for me? Once I informed Goemans of the above I asked them to put in a rush order to Bosch so that my kitchen reno doesn't have to be put on hold for a month and a half but they don't seem overly concerned about our situation and offered no assistance whatsoever to speed things up. Keep getting promises of follow ups that never happen. Reached out to their head office in Mississauga (Amber), still waiting to hear back from them as well. More than a handful of our friends, coworkers and family are in the process of or are considering a kitchen reno in the near future, and knowing what we're going through has already discouraged a number of them from dealing with Goemans. Terrible customer service, as they do not at all care about their customer once they made the sale.

No customer service

Ordered appliances from Goemans a few weeks prior. They confirmed delivery the day prior giving us a time range. No one showed up and no one called. I called store (it was after 5:00). Person was not able to see why delivery was not done. I was told that Jeff would be calling me in the morning, that an urgent message was sent to him. No one called. I called around, finally speaking to someone who admitted that they had damaged the cooktop. We then had to arrange to order another and finally got it a few weeks later. This was during a kitchen reno so I ended up incurring additional costs from my contractor for the delays.

I can understand and accept that accidents happens. What I fail to understand is that not a single call has ever been made by Goemans. We've left several messages for the manager and have had no response. Letter sent to Head Office has also resulted in no reply. Also waiting on hearing back from Jeff from the urgent message. I was promised that the delivery fee would be waived. It has not been despite 3 requests to the store

Seems that Goemans is a great place to shop, but if there is a problem, you are on your own. Buyer Beware!

Poor service

We purchased all new appliances through goemans, which our builder recommended. When the fridge arrived with faulty filters, both goemans and samsung told us that the items were not covered under warranty and we would be responsible to replace them. This was a brand new fridge, that didn't work on the day of delivery! Horrible customer service.

Maytag Washer and Dryer

When is a dryer not a dryer? When it's a new top-of-line Maytag purchased at Goeman's Appliances. Having never used a gas one before, I was blaming myself for only being able to get sporadic heat from it. One and one half weeks later, after being up until 2AM because I kept dozing off waiting for laundry to dry, I called for service. Service came four days later and informed me that my "dryer" had a defective part" that wasn't kept in stock. It was repaired 5 days later. Was I suppose to ask the installers to watch a 72 year old do 6 loads of accumulated laundry to make sure my "dryer" dried before they left, so I could use the lemon word? A dryer is called a dryer because it dries! Mine wouldn't because it couldn't! My calls to Goemans have been ignored and shuffled back and forth between 3 departments. Even the manager ignored my "detailed message that he'd listen to immediately on his arrival the next morning". After receiving no response by 2PM the next day, I was told he was in his office when I called again, but his phone eventually went to answering machine so I left another message. I feel I'm entitled to at least a 1 year free extended warranty to cover any further potential defects. "Goemans" has never contacted me, so it looks like "Glemons" sold me a lemon. They don't sell dryers!

Kitchen Upgrade

Goemans Appliances sells damaged goods and will not replace them. We purchased a dishwasher from Goemans about 15 months ago. Just after the manufacturer's warranty expired, we noticed the unit was leaking with every use and the water was damaging our cupboards and hardwood floor. Since we had purchased the extended warranty, we didn't hesitate to place a repair call through Goemans Service Dept. The technician arrived but did very little in the way of troubleshooting. He simply tightened something inside the unit and said to keep an eye on it to see if the problem came back. It did. This time we asked Goemans to assign the call to a different repair company. The technician arrived and did a very thorough analysis of the problem. We were shocked when he told us the unit appeared to have been dropped. The frame was bent and the stainless steel interior tub was also damaged. After a year of use in a misaligned state, parts had simply worn out prematurely and began to leak. I contacted Goemans to explain the situation and to request a replacement unit. I was given a flat out "no". The unit would be repaired under extended warranty and they would not consider replacing the dishwasher with a new one even when confronted with evidence that they sold us a damaged unit. Unbelievable!!!

I could go on to explain the frustration and arguing encountered when dealing with this company but the bottom line is, they sold us a defective unit and would not budge an inch when it came to taking ownership and rectifying the situation. If you buy a coat at a store and find a rip or tear in the lining when you get home, you take it back and get a replacement. They don't dispatch a seamstress to repair the coat. The item is defective and replacement is warranted. I see no difference in this dishwasher scenario. I will NEVER do business with Goemans again.

all kitchen appliances

Purchased all-new stainless steel KitchenAid appliances + Miele dishwasher from the Vega Blvd location for my kitchen reno. Order placement and delivery was excellent. They have a great selection of brands. My only complaint is that they did not warn me how noisy the above-the-range microwave fan is,although I did ask about this issue. I would have probably bought a different brand if they had been more knowledgeable about this unit.

Napolean Gas Grill

Instead of re writing my story I am just copying the email i sent to Goemans about this problem.

I just have to say wow. What a disappointment. 8 years ago my wife and I bought over 5000 dollars worth of appliances from you, including a new BBQ. A few months ago that barbeque died. So the first thing we thought was that we should go back to Goemans and buy another. So we did that. I paid over a thousand dollars for a new Napolean barbeque. I was told it would be assembled and delivered.

The barbeque was delivered on time. Since it was "professionally" assembled I made the assumption that I could hook it up to my existing natural gas line and start it up. So I did that. Then I found that the natural gas hose which is connected to my existing non leaking quick disconnect was not tightened at the barbeque end. I was a little annoyed but I went and got a wrench and tightened the loose fitting. I used the barbeque and everything seemed fine. I shut off the gas at the quick connect when I was done.

This weekend I had a party so we had the barbeque on for food. At least 4 people commented on the fact that they could smell the gas after the barbeque was turned off. So we shut off the quick connect to avoid the complaints. Before I went to bed I turned on the quick connect valve. The next morning there were about 2000 flies crawling on my back deck around the barbeque. I could smell natural gas. I turned off the gas at the quick connect valve and went to work. My wife called and said a half hour later all the flies were gone.

I called Goemans customer service department and was told I couldn't get a service call because I didn't have a serial number with me! Seriously?! What does that have to do with anything? I did not assemble the barbeque. Napoleon did not assemble the barbeque. Goemans assembled the barbeque!

So I call back today and have to explain the situation to a different girl in the customer service department. She actually has the gall to ask me where in the barbeque is it leaking? If I knew where the thing was leaking I would fix it myself. I didn't assemble it, I don't have assembly instructions, so I am not going to take it apart. The girl was adamant that I tell her where it was leaking. So finally I asked her if she expected me to take it apart. Then she put me on hold! Then she asked me again to pinpoint where it was leaking! I then got very upset and and told her I was not going to take the barbeque apart. Then she finally agreed to call to set up a service call. Then she didn't even ask me for the serial number that I was told was necessary to do so. So now I have wasted 24 hours.

Now I get a call back saying I have to call Napoleon! You people can't be serious! I did not put this thing together. Your assemblers messed this up and you are passing the buck!! I don't have time to disassemble this thing to trouble shoot it! This barbeque is less than two weeks old and has been leaking natural gas from day 1!!

I called in sick to work today to figure this out because my wife is extremely upset about this natural gas leak. I have just finished the leak test that Napolean requested and I have found that YOUR assemblers did not tighten 3 hoses!! 3 HOSES!! really? That's just ridiculous.
