Ghost flushing and leaking toilets problems in my house. Shanks'rep arrived quite later than scheduled, proceeded in changing the mechanism inside the tanks of my 3 toilets but had to come back twice again as the ghost flushing was still happening in one of the WC, day and night. Despite the rep s efforts, he could not fix it and said the toilet was an old model for which there were no parts available. It was a question of finding the right-fitting flapper. He could not obviously and it seemed a new toilet was the solution. I then read a glowing review of a plumber on Nextdoor. I contacted him and he came on a Sunday, spent 45 minutes testing a number of flappers and found the correct one. It's now fixed. That visit cost me $120

Over a period of five summers, Shanks Plumbing completely renovated our North Toronto house from top to bottom. They did a beautiful job. Dave gave estimates that always tallied up with invoices. He is extremely knowledgeable about house construction from the bottom up with decades of experience. He is honest, up front, and runs a really good operation. Each stage of the work was always completed to our satisfaction. His workers are excellent. Steve did the bathrooms as well as some of the other work. He is the best trades person we have ever had in our house. Steve is extremely skilled and hardworking - not to mention considerate and thoughtful at being in someone elses home.
home. Dave had a designer work with us, Laura Gellatly, who did a beautiful job designing the kitchen. She also picked colours for all the rooms in the house as well as handling reupholstering, ordering new furniture, and new carpeting. Bruce did a great job on the electrical work. Franks painters were terrific and did a beautiful job. Dave provided an excellent drain expert, Trevor, to replace drains and the backup valve. And he had an excellent carpenter who made beautiful custom made cabinetry in the kitchen and living room based on Lauras specifications. It has been a lengthy process, but we have been so lucky to have Dave to handle everything. I have heard some pretty scary stories about home renovations where the final bill far exceeded the initial estimate or where the work wasnt completely finished or was badly done. The homeowner ended up having to pay even more to have it finished or redone. But our experience was the exact opposite of that.

Eric did a great job. We woke up to a pool of water in our basement. Turns out the kitchen faucet had a leak. Called Shanks and Eric was at our door less than an hour later. Determined that the faucet needed to be replaced. Showed us some options to buy through Shanks and chose one, which was out of stock, but managed to get it a couple of days later. Eric came back and installed it. He's very friendly and knows what he's doing.

Eric from Shanks was very professional, efficient and skilled in replacing a toilet for us and fixing an ancient shower faucet. He also noticed another sink faucet that needed a quick tightening and did that. We would definitely recommend him/ Shanks!

Yusuf from Shanks did a wonderful job dealing with a blocked drain in our laundry room. He arrived promptly, explained the isssue/solution and completedy the work very quickly. The best plumber experienece I've ever had.

Last year, I purchased and had installed a new Moen faucet from Shanks. Came with their full repair/replacement warranty. When the faucet proved defective, Shanks ordered a new one and replaced it quickly and professionally.

We had Shanks completely regut our upstairs bathroom and create a new one. Dave gave us an initial estimate which matched what we paid at the end. Dave made excellent recommendations about layout, and provided us with quality plumbing fixtures and cabinetry. Steve did the renovation work. Steve is personable, very responsible (no concerns about having him in our home for a lengthy project), and pays exacting attention to all details of his fine work. Both Dave and Steve steered us clear of some unwise ideas I had, with excellent advice as to what would work instead.
The bathroom is just beautiful. I highly recommend Dave and Steve as quality renovators.

We called Shanks when we had an issue with our kitchen faucet - they came quickly, diagnosed the issue, ordered and replaced our new faucet very efficiently. Very satisfied with Shanks and Eric who performed the services on site.

We hired Shanks to put in a new basement bathroom.From beginning to end they did a wonderful job.Dave was very professional in costing out and managing the project. Steve brought a high level of knowledge and hands on expertise in creating the bathroom. Both were friendly, approachable and professional through the entire process.

We have used Shanks many times because they are so close, but every time I regret it. They are close and come quickly. That's good. But, even simple jobs somehow require multiple trips, and you get billed for many hours of "work", while they "go get parts". Once they came, just said they didn't want to do the job, and then billed for a "service call", which involved no service what-so-ever. If you must call this company, request anyone BUT Yusef. He is completely useless.
