Berg Electric

We had our stand pipe broken during the 2013 ice storm. There were a lot of licensed electricians on ESA's list. However there are only a small number that were on the Authorized Contractor Program (ACP) list, who supposedly performed good work and could reduce downtime. I was able to get two ACP companies, Berg being one, to give me a quote and some other companies not on ACP. Sam from Berg quoted me $600 to $700 depending on any hidden damage, while others charged up to $2000. Since Berg was on the ACP, I decided to go with them. The work was done as explained and ESA permit was received promptly. Sam showed me no hidden damage and I was charged $600. I am very happy with the work and service. Will definitely recommend them and go to Berg if there is any future work.

The recent ice storm caused some damage that as a home owner I was responsible for instead of Toronto Hydro. I had heard that some contractors were charging over $2500 for that type of repair. I had used Berg in the past for small jobs, so I called. Janet was extremely helpful in reassuring me that the price would be reasonable. She arranged to have Sam go out and fix it within two days. They applied for the permit and completed the work without delay. They were flexible with respect to the payment options. The final price was 1/4 of what was being quoted by others. Its difficult to find people like this in the industry. I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to others.

Sam came over on a Sunday to repair the power line between our house and garage, which was downed during an ice storm. He charged very little for this service, far less than any other contractors I had contacted.

He also replaced 2 faulty GFCI outdoor outlets and climbed onto our garage to remove a huge branch that had fallen onto our neighborhood cable/telephone wires. I didn't even have to ask him for these additional services, and he didn't charge me either!

This is the 3rd time that I have used Berg Electrical - Sam also replaced the electrical panels at 2 of my residences. I strongly recommend him for all electrical services.

With the referral from our landscaper, we contacted Berg Electric to replace the knob and tube wiring in the house and other upgrades. Sam came the next day, provided a quote with detailed specifications. We made some revisions and forwarded it back to him. Things were moving very fast, within two days all the details and price were confirmed. The crew was very professional. Andy and Marcus who were predominantly on the job for 4 days were here early in the morning and worked until 5:00 pm. Sam and Hasan came to help on day 1 and day 4 to expedite the project. The job was completed within 4 days. A daily cleanup was done at the end of each day.

Berg Electric is under the ESA Authorized Contractor Program. In order to participate in this program, the company must maintain a 96% passing grade. The defect ratio is not to exceed 4%. Berg Electric is a very well-run company. Under Sam’s leadership, things are run efficiently. Sam is a very knowledgeable and nice man to work with. The crew: Andy, Marcus and Hasan are outstanding workers. Not only do they have a good sense of humour, they are fun to be around.

It’s hard to believe that the experience we had with Berg Electric was so pleasant and enjoyable. Nowadays it is hard to find a good company who wants to do a decent job. We have no hesitation to recommend Berg Electric to others and will use them again for any future electrical work.

I paid to have all the knob and tube removed but he removed only part of it. He said I contracted to remove only part. Of course I wanted all of it removed. Why would one remove only part of a dangerous situation and leave the situation still dangerouis?

Mr. Sam from Berg electric, came on a Sunday during a long weekend to address the issue of some of the outlets not working. As it turned out there had been a short in one of the junction boxes. A fire hazard! He promptley repaired it and it was a very reasonable cost!

While renovating our basement we decided to remove all knob and tube wiring. We were tight on time as our basement contractor wanted to finish the job quickly. Several electricians came to see our house - an older home in North Toronto - and did not seem confident about the job. Enter Sam and his crew - Dwayne, Markus and Ari. Sam was completing an electrical job in the neighbourhood, I asked him to come by and look at my home. In looking at our home, not only was Sam confident in removing the knob and tube and rewiring our home, he also made several additional suggestions. He is a very hands - on, professional and knowledgeable electrician. Dwayne and Marcus who were predominantly on the job for 5 days were here early every morning and worked exceptionally well. The job was completed within 5 days, they were clean and outstanding. I highly recommend Berg Electric and will use them again for any future electrical needs.

We have used Berg Electric for many small rewiring jobs in our house. This was the biggest project we have used them for and I was very satisfied. They came out to quote on the job the same day that I called them and were able to complete it 2 days later - on a Satruday - to fit my schedule. They ran new wiring from the basement and installed a series of potlights in the kitchen ceiling. Many holes had to be cut in the walls and ceiling, but they did their best to keep the mess to a minimum. They finished the job the same day, as quoted, and even installed a dimmer switch for free while they were here. Great, reliable timely service - I will definetely continue using them.
