This review is long overdue but one I’ve been eager to provide. First of all, I would highly recommend Solocrete to anyone and everyone who’s looking for concrete work. Interestingly enough, I was at a mining conference in downtown Toronto and mentioned some of the renovations I was doing in and out of the house and a colleague said he had a great concrete guy if I was looking for stamped. I told him we had ours done by Solocrete and he chuckled as he had used John about six year ago at his home. John was very patient with me. I had him come out twice to provide a quote because after the initial quote which was for a white concrete (sidewalk look) walkways and rear patio, I decided to ask for stamped concrete and included the driveway. Pricing was reasonable. Certainly not the most expensive but not the cheapest either. John and Idila also patiently worked with me in the colour selection. He met me at his business in Brampton to go over the numerous shades of gray he had. He also made his recommendations based on his experience with what they looked like in the sun and in the shade. Afterwards, Idila provided me with about a half dozen locations where they had done work with my colour selection so that I could see a complete job. One homeowner happened to be home when I visited and they were happy to show me the backyard and spent about 10 minutes sharing their experience and tips with me. The framing wasn’t perfect the first time, but it ended up being close to it. There were a couple of places around the house where the framer graded it incorrectly towards the house. They were remedied before any concrete was poured. The staff work hard and John monitors them closely as he dropped by every now and then to see how things were progressing. I appreciated the hands on approach John takes … he actually works as hard as his crew when he’s on site. Another pleasure was dealing with Idila. All my questions and concerns were acknowledged and followed up on in a timely manner. They make a very good team. 90% of the concrete looks amazing. The cuts are good, the borders look good and I’ve had plenty of compliments from my neighbours. There are a couple sections that look pitted but I don’t think there’s a remedy for that at this point. I don’t really notice them anymore. Over the winter, much of the sealer has stripped and there’s been some cracking where my window wells have expanded. I’m not concerned that these aren’t matters that will be remedied by the Solocrete team. Overall, I would highly recommend John and Solocrete and would not bother looking anywhere else if a need or opportunity arose. As I’ve said before, John & Idila, I’d be happy to be a reference for quality of work and colour selection if people want to drop by!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an honest and informative review. It was a pleasure to have spent quality time with you in order to achieve the best possible result. I also was happy with the work we did for you, other than a few minor repairs which will be remedied. The Solocrete team and I greatly appreciate all of your kind words, acknowledgements and recommendations. Your offer to be a reference for our work is very commendable of you. I cannot thank you enough. I wish you and your family all the best-John

Almost every aspect of dealing with this company and Mesh, who was my main point of contact, was amazing. A very thorough quotation process, short turnaround time from executing contract to starting the job. I also made a few changes to the initial scope of work which probably should have resulted in additional costs but I was not charged more than what was quoted. There were a few issues. 1. The first is a small issue. Since the job started on a Thursday, I had to live through the weekend where no work was being performed without the safety of a railing system. I have three kids aged 1, 3 and 5 so that was a very nerve wracking weekend. 2. The second issue relates to the stain colour. Mesh explained that the difference between red oak and yellow oak effects how the stain appears which seems to have been a factor in our case. In spite of this, I would still recommend Mesh and Ideal Stairs and would use them for another project if an opportunity arose.

I was VERY wary of Home Appliance Repair and appliance repair shops in general because of the reviews posted online. But I had to pick one to check out our stove which emanated a noticeable natural gas smell when we used the oven. So, when the entire job ended up costing $500 including parts and labour, I was not surprised nor shocked as I knew what I was getting into. And a note, if you go to their website, you can sign up for a $20 coupon. The reason for a less than perfect rating is that the first technician wasn't the most pleasant or knowledgeable. He didn't seem to have a real joy in his work. But he knew enough to diagnose the issue I called for. When I pointed out another issue, I forgot to mention on the call, he was stumped but he knew enough to call a senior technician who was able to quickly diagnose and repair. Would I use again? Absolutely without any qualms.

Very pleased with the look and feel of the Garaga doors and I'm very happy I made this investment. I enjoyed dealing with Allan Grant who accommodated my various requests. I would have provided a higher rating if the aluminum capping was installed properly the first or even second time. It required three visits to get it right and even so, it's about 90% right since I can still see the warping. Nonetheless, they were responsive to my phone calls and emails to have the issues remedied so I'm comfortable that they will provide warranty and after service should it be required. Would I recommend? Yes but I would suggest that you make sure the installer inserts a screw / bolt in every hole instead of every other, if you've opted for the aluminum capping.

Thank you Ellen and Eugene for this review. We apologize that the capping was not done to your satisfaction and our job is never done until you are satisfied. We will always be there for you.

I had a crew come in November to bring our attic insulation to today's standard of R50. The crew was very pleasant and answered the numerous questions I posed. Two matters / questions came up after the work was completed and the calls were returned by the owner of the company and the supervisor of the crew. Very pleased at the follow up service and would recommend to anyone. In terms of pricing, they were not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive.

My rating is purely on the install of the Northstar product we purchased. The windows are absolutely fantastic, except for the shade of white. It's a very bluish white which stands out in our home even beside the white casing trim. The process to get a quote was fairly straight forward. Ken was honest and easy to contact as I made several changes to the initial quote after receiving quotes from three other installation companies. The install date was also better than I had hoped for. I braced myself for a 12 week wait but it was less than 10 weeks from placing the order to completion of the install. The free upgrade to triple glaze helped us pull the trigger to go with Brock. I want to give Brock a higher rating but these two items are holding me back. 1. Runners were placed on the floor so that they could walk with their shoes on but drop sheets were not placed on any furniture. I'm still cleaning up bits of dry wall and dust in the basement and throughout the house. 2. The installer do not caulk and fill the holes in the casing. I am looking at a $40,000 + job for my parents home and the other Northstar window installer does that as part of the install. It's a small thing but it's the small things that one often remembers.

I spoke to several mold remediation companies before selecting mri-mold.ca. I spoke to Indira who indicated that they charged for an assessment. The proposed charge was nominal but she made it clear that it would be applied to any and all work mri-mold.ca would perform. This resonated with me. Greg arrive punctually the day of the appointment and looked at the cold cellar. He indicated that it was a level 1 and accordingly something I could do much cheaper by myself. He wrote down a list of the products I would need, where I could buy them and provided instructions on how to apply the products. We also went upstairs to try and identify the source and he found two areas which are likely the reasons for the moisture and provided suggestions on how to do so economically since I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I would highly recommend and will use them when I buy my next house to assist with the home inspection.

Craftsman was the fourth roofing company I had come over to provide an estimate for a roof replacement. The first three were in Homestars top ten ranking of roofing company's in the GTA. But the reason I went for a fourth quote is that the first three were all over the place. I found Craftsman by randomly selecting a Pro Contractor from Certainteed's website and then visited Homestars to see if they had previously been reviewed. I'm happy that I did. Corney, the owner came out the next day and gave me a competitive quote. And even though their warranty was the shortest offered, I was comfortable with it knowing that Craftsman has been in business for 33 years ... the other three combined haven't been in business that long. The crew that worked on our roof were very respectful and thorough. They explained what they were doing and why they were doing it. When they replaced plywood (we changed 8.5 sheets), they showed me why so that I would be comfortable with their suggestion. I hope I won't ever have to call them back because of an issue but I'm very comfortable that I won't have any problems with service if the need arises.

Adel and Raphael both came out to clean our new home before we moved in. They were courteous, on-time and went through each step of the process with me. Afterwards, Adel walked me through the inspection and even pointed out minute permanent stains which I would not have even noticed. They were very professional and I would highly recommend them. They are a bit more than the guy coming in with a tank on his back, but the level of service is not even comparable. They use a truck with the hose to do the cleaning and the service is top-notch. So before you get lured in by another shop quoting low, low prices, ask what type of equipment and cleaning product they use.
