We chose AlumaLux based on their glowing reviews on Homestars. Our project was modest in scope: we wanted safety railings on the steps of our front and side doors and along a side walkway. Nevertheless, AlumaLux gave the job VIP treatment. They visited our property to painstakingly measure and, after we chose the product from their website portfolio, gave us a firm quote on cost and timing. Almost to the day, Yurii and Roman came and did the installation, quickly and efficiently. Our project was delivered in textbook fashion: Punctually (in the promised time), with Precision (quality workmanship) and Price (at a reasonable cost). I have no hesitation in recommending AlumaLux's excellent services.

The project consisted of replacing our thirty year old eavestrough and reinstalling the existing, much newer, leaf guard. We chose Professional Gutters over three other worthy and reputable candidates because we were impressed with Tony's assessment of our needs and sensible suggestions for improvement of the existing system. His five man crew arrived early on the agreed date, quickly, efficiently and quietly completed the job and then did a fantastic job of cleanup and removal of the old material and the accumulated debris. At my request Tony even gladly applied a touch up coat of paint to our weathered chimney. We have no hesitation in recommending this company for their work and value-added service.

We are very glad to have chosen Carpet Palace to replace the carpet and baseboards of our upstairs bedroom area. From the outset George was patient and accommodating with us and ably managed the project through carpet selection, home visit for measurement and quote, to installation in a single day by the impressive installation team of Remzi and Akai. The project was delivered exactly as promised. On October 30 I called JSN Appliances Repair and spoke to Sam Alexander about a washing machine problem - drum seized at the spin cycle - that we were having. At my urgent request Sam was able to fit us in that Friday. Upon arrival, after much investigation and trouble-shooting he identified the problem as a defective bearing that he advised would be prohibitively expensive to replace. To tide us over Sam was able to get the machine to work (advising light loads only) until we replace it. We very much appreciate the short term reprieve Sam was able to provide, and at a very reasonable price considering the time he devoted to it. Thank you Sam.

We chose Invision Hardwood and Décor for our flooring renovation project after visiting their booth at The National Home Show and checking out their glowing references on the HomeStars website. As well, they carried the flooring product brand we wanted, Torlys. The project involved replacing existing flooring in the main hallway and kitchen of our home with a visual flow-through effect. We also wanted the baseboards replaced in the kitchen to match those in the hallway. A short flight of steps down to the family room of our split level home needed to be integrated visually. After consulting with Dov Brandes we decided on Torlys EverTile for the hallway and kitchen and custom made maplewood stair treads to cover the existing steps, stained to colour match the floor in the family room. Throughout the selection process Dov was very attentive to our needs and detailed questions, while providing vital input on aesthetics and product choice. We were given samples to view at home for compatibility with existing decor. Once we decided and signed off on a detailed contract and statement of work, the project was carried out in three stages: demolition, installation and finishing, all completed in a remarkably efficient three days plus a short final visit by Dov to review the work and apply finishing touches. As well, Dov and his partner Roy Yonash provided oversight throughout the project. We are impressed with the efficiency of the operation and delighted with the result. Invision delivered what they promised and more. The work crews were hardworking and consultative even on small details, worked long hours, carefully cleaned up at the end of each day and disposed of the debris. Our decision to use Invision was amply justified. I would recommend their services to anyone looking for superior quality, delivered at reasonable cost and on time. Add us to the list of extremely satisfied customers of Imran Emamdee of Gas Fireplace Services. We have a sixteen year old Regency fireplace originally installed by Enbridge Home Services and serviced annually thereafter, via maintenance agreements, by its successor companies. We had never been impressed with the flames or the fact that it tended to cut out intermittently (a switch problem we were told). At the start of winter last year the fire would not come on and it was deemed to require a valve replacement - a major repair. Based on the rave reviews in Homestars I called Imran who agreed to provide a second opinion for a reasonable fee. He found that the fireplace had been under-serviced for many years but could be refurbished to operate like new, at less than the cost of replacement. Even though the cost was higher than anticipated, impressed with his knowledge, expertise and professionalism, we agreed that he proceed. The finished product exceeded our expectations. After Imran’s complete overhaul and painstaking attention to aesthetics as well as mechanics, the fireplace actually looks and operates much better than it did when first installed. A few days later we received a follow-up call to ensure that everything was working properly. We would highly recommend Imran’s services to anyone looking for first-class quality workmanship.

Direct Energy was able to accommodate my request for a replacement of our rental water heater much earlier than I expected - that very day in fact. Then the work was carried out very quickly, efficiently and cleanly.

Lesley & Hermas from Brampton – August 2009 We would like to share a good news story about a great general contracting resource that won’t remain a secret for very long. Adrian DiCarlo and his partner Stavros Tsikrik, two personable young men with experience and know-how far beyond their years, were referred to us by a family member. Their contracting company is called Unique Shacks. In the summer of 2009 they undertook a project to replace all our upstairs doors and completely gut and renovate the main bathroom, which included complete retiling and replacement of all plumbing and furnishings. Only the tiling was sub-contracted; all remaining work was done by Adrian and Stavros. Their workmanship and precision was superb and material supplied was of top quality. In addition, Adrian and Stavros referred us to two excellent suppliers of tile and bathroom furnishings. The administrative and house-keeping sides of the project were handled very professionally. Estimate, firm quote, payment schedule and change orders were supported by formal paperwork and sign-off. Site cleanup was performed daily and disposal of replaced fixtures and construction debris was efficiently handled. The results of the renovation project far exceeded our expectations. Last summer I had Royal Decks design and install a deck over an old brick patio. The project started with a professional agreement detailing what would be delivered, the timing and the price. The work was finished on time and the result surpassed my expectations. Friends and family have been very complimentary of the look of the finished product.
