Unfortunately for us, we had a horrible experience with the contractor that did the renovation in our house. As a result, we were left with many things that needed to be fixed; among them, a section of our house's eavestroughs and downspouts. This is, as you may understand, an small job (in comparison with bigger jobs) and it was very difficult to find a contractor that would care to fit us in their schedule. Thanks to God, Arthur, Flori and Jane got back to us and now, the problem - that could have ended becoming a "big" problem if not addressed- is resolved. We definitively do recommend The Roof Whisperer. They do "care" and their work is the one that you would expect from great professionals. Thank you to all of you!!

We do thank Arthur and his team greatly for taking care of this issue for us. Five years ago we had an extension done to our home and bit by bit we have been finding things that either were not tackled properly of were not tackled at all...One of them being the venting of our two second floor bathrooms to the exterior. We recently realized that they both were venting into the attic and that there was no connection to the exterior which could have caused a major problem (condensation etc...). I have to say that nowadays, finding a contractor that gets back to you for, let's call them, "minor" issues is a "task" in itself so, we were not only pleased that Arthur got back to us but also because the job was done perfectly and because, for Arthur was not only matter of fixing this problem for us and "leave" he, actually pointed at yet another issue that needed to be addressed (one of our downspouts) of which we would have had no idea if it were not because Arthur showed it to us... Arthur even took down a big branch of a tree that got caught in the latest wind storm we had in Toronto. The branch was so up high that we couldn't have been able to reach it...Arthur helped us also with this... So, for anyone out there, Arthur and his team were great and so was Jean who will answer all your questions over the phone!!

We do thank Danny and his team greatly for taking care of this issue for us. One of the last wind storms in Toronto put down a section of our fence. I have to say that, nowadays, finding a contractor that gets back to you for, let's call it "minor" issues, is a "task" in itself so, we were not only pleased that Danny got back to us but also because the job was done perfectly and because, from the first moment, Danny came forth as a trustworthy professional...In his first visit Danny talked to my husband and I about the options we had (remove old posts and panels and replace them for new ones / or replace the old posts for new ones and re-install the old panels). Danny gave us his honest opinion, he was not trying to upsell us which we found "refreshing", and we ended going for the less expensive option which Danny advised it was just perfect... So, for anyone out there, Danny and his team were great and we would highly recommend them to anyone!!!

It's so difficult to find a good contractor…A contractor that you can trust… I had a "good" feeling from the start, when I met with Salvador ("Sal") and, for sure, he didn't let us down… After going through a two story addition at the back, the backyard looked as if we would have landed in Mars…Very unwelcoming and hostile, more so because twice the basement got flooded trough the backyard… The water came from the back alley and so, tackling the backyard's landscaping was not only matter of creating a place where we would enjoy and relax; we needed this backyard to "work with us"…. Salvador and his team (Patrick, Steven, Osvaldo and Kio) made our dream come true. They gave us solutions to all the challenges that this backyard presented to us in a very "ecological" manner…Meaning…I like nature,…I like trees,…I like "green"….and a "green" space that would protect us against "the elements" (rain…lots of it…) is what this team delivered. This backyard is also practical and a true extension of our home. Not only we feel that the job has been done incredibly well (finishes included) but, it looks wonderful!!! It does provide so much pleasure to my eyes looking at it. It is serene…Birds are coming already into our backyard - saw a couple of Robins and Cardinals! It's, obviously, not finished completely since the "greenery" has to be added …We want to plant a tree and some vines that would cover the pergola…but, with a bit of imagination whoever cares to take a look to these photos can "envision" the "secluded garden nook" that I always wanted… I thank Salvador and his team SOOOOOO much for the work well done! Dallas and Teresa,
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. But more importantly, Thank you guys for being such nice people to work with!

I feel sorry for the many months (years) of renovations you've had to endure and at times negative experiences with contractors. I am happy and satisfied that you found us and that we were able to help you move into a new and exciting stage in your reno sagas!

Thank you for choosing us to bring your outdoor vision into reality, and for having the faith in us despite your past experiences. I'm very happy we came through for you! It does frustrate me to hear and see many people dealing with the consequences of rushed, poor quality work.

In terms of the landscape we've created with your vision and our installation, I love it. I love that it has that laid back, Spanish / Latin American hang out under shady vines feel - with a good balance of simplicity and formality in the pergola / Trellis design. And just in time for summer!

I love the trellises and how you chose to integrate them around the pergolas. I am excited to see what you will choose to plant and am looking forward to seeing more pictures down the road when the greenery takes off.

I think the custom built shed turned out great. Again, your preference for simple but character filled items like the recycled wood door and reclaimed windows is right up my alley. I think this is the way to go over factory stamped generic items that often all look the same.

I hope the screens and cedar hedge perimeter do a good job of creating privacy for you. We can always come back and add additional screen(s) for privacy if need be, so just let me know.

Thanks for everything!

Sal

We have been "one of those" home owners with no much luck with our contractor... We started our 2 story renovation back in August of 2012. Since then, our basement got flooded twice (that horrible June of 2013 and, recently, last October 2014). After the first flooding, we were told that our sump pump was not properly connected to the outside (during the winter, due to the way the piping was built, the water was getting frozen inside the pipe rendering our sump pump totally "useless"). We tried to get this issue tackled in timely manner; however, due to legal issues with our previous contractor, we didn't get to it "on time". The end result was that our basement got flooded with almost half a meter of water... I looked in Homestars for plumbers with good references and I liked what I read about "Plumbers Direct". We called them and Peter and his co-worker (sorry but I don't remember his name) arrived home, gave us a quote, I called my husband, we talked, soon after my husband phoned Peter and closed the deal. They arrived the following morning, connected properly our sump pump to the outside of the house for which they had to dig a trench in our back yard so that they could create proper drainage and, since they were with their hands on the job, they also connected one of the down spouts to the underground - we were very happy about this too! Since then, the basement is "once again" renovated and we have not had any problems; however, since now we are frantic every time there is heavy rain, one day, after going through a night of heavy rain and not having "heard" the sump pump "at all"...both my husband and I were concerned that something was "wrong" with it! My husband called Peter on the following day - a Sunday - and asked Peter to please come by our home and take a look...We needed reassurance that "all" was Ok and Peter came by and, after double checking that all was functioning properly, he left our house without charging us any fee for the service; however, leaving behind happy customers. To the above, I have to add that, right after Plumbers Direct tackled our sump pump we requested from them to take a look to our ensuite's shower combo which, lately, was doing crazy things...Peter and his co-worker came twice to the house since the problem seemed to be a bit difficult to deal with; they ordered the necessary parts from the manufacturer and, unfortunately, after many hours spent trying to find what was wrong with the shower, they couldn't find the solution to the problem and, after letting us know about their findings, suggested that we should contact some other plumber since they couldn't fix the problem. Plumbers Direct not only didn't charge us for their services but also they provided us with written instructions for whichever other plumber we would contact so that they would have idea of what was going on with this thing... If the above does not show that Plumbers Direct does have excellent professional ethic, I don't know what does... We truly appreciate their service and knowledge and we, definitively, would recommend them any time.. Teresa and Dallas

Hi!!! I just want to say that it is a wonderful experience to be helped by professionals that care about their work. We could write a book about our renovation story... In a few words, we started back in August of 2012 a two addition in the back...We are now in January of 2014 and still we are filling the pain of having dealt with a renovation company that, even though, in the beginning we thought the world about them, it turned out to be a nightmare...We ended cutting ties with him... To add more "wood" to the fire, last October our basement got flooded... The case is that we kept being in touch with, Marc, a great professional that used to work for our previous contractor and, through him, we got to know about "Complete Exteriors". The Parsons brothers came home, took a look to the basement (almost half a meter of water had caused major damages to it), gave us a quote and shortly after they put hands on the job..."Complete Exteriors" didn't abandon us - as many contractors do now a days. They started and finished the job in no time; furthermore, "our" Marc and Jamie - both working for Bruce Parsons - stayed one Saturday from 7:30 in the morning till around 5:00 am so that the job could be finished!!! Now, what do you think about that??? No too many professionals out there would do this! Both Marc and Jamie "care" about the job they were tackling and they want to deliver the best results possible. The end result is that the basement looks much, much better than the original one (before the flooding). It's even warmer!! I guess it is better insulated? Whoever has gone through a renovation will know what I am talking about....Doing a renovation is a great deal. If you don't find the appropriate people to tackle it you are bound to no good. Every site will tell you that you have to ask for references prior to retaining a contractor...Right, BUT, not only the contractor has to be "good", his crew has to be up to the task. My husband and I can only say that we are extremely thankful to these professionals; therefore, would we recommend them to anyone in "need"??? DEFINITIVELY!!!! Dallas and Teresa

What do we have to say about The FranMac Group Inc.? Scope of the work: Two storey addition + a front addition. I will start by saying that Frank and Mark are very patient professionals. Originally, we contacted them around two years ago; however, due to various circumstances, it was last August - September when the renovation of our home started. Frank and Mark are trustworthy, honest professionals: Having heard so many horror stories about contractors and having in mind that, not my husband nor I have had recently much time to put aside in order to tackle all the different decisions that needed to be made for the renovation, Frank and Mark have guided us and provided us with the best of the solutions for our needs. it has been and it is a brise of fresh air been able to rely on them knowing that the job would get done in the best of the ways. Frank and Mark are, what I would call, "wise old wolves" in the building / renovation industry: Their knowledge is immense. If there is anything that would improve the structure of the house and that is not stated in the drawings approved by the city, they would do it. If there are any changes that could better the end result, they would tackle them. In fact, we got to know after the fact about a few of those changes and even the inspector that came by the house approved of them. Isn't this a huge relieve? Frank and Mark are constantly putting on the table solutions to all the issues that we have encountered since our home is an old home and, as you may imagine, if it is not one thing is another... On top of everything, Frank and Mark are great people...The kind of people you would like to have over to enjoy a beer in the "men's cave" / patio area they have created off the basement.. Anyway, call them!!! You will not be disappointed. Dallas and Teresa

Rocco has been amazing in his work, courtesy and patience. We had our first meeting with Rocco back in February 20, 2010. We were planning on doing a two story addition in our house. Rocco came home, listened to our ideas and that same week, submitted drawings that met our needs. In order to obtain the city's approval we ended having to go through the Committee of Adjustments and Rocco took care of everything. We got the approval and; unfortunately, due to different circumstances, we needed to do changes to accommodate our new needs. Rocco showed the comprehension and understanding that, I believe, is difficult to find in the fast paced renovation businesses. Once we were ready, Rocco provided new ideas that were incorporated in the current drawings. After more than two years, the renovation has started and we may be back "home" by January 2013. I would highly recommend Rocco to anyone who is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable professional. Thank you Rocco!!
