We decided to turn our main floor into an open concept living space. In order to do this, we needed to install steel beams and our current contractor was honest and said he could not do this work and suggested we find someone who specializes in this. I spoke with a number of different companies and ended up deciding to move forward with Willowtree. From the first email and very quick response to every time I reached out to Frank, he was responsive and completely honest. I guess that’s why they’re rated A+ on BBB. The reality is that every project runs into problems and this is when a true professional shows what they’re made of. Our work permits ended up being late because of some issues with the City of Toronto (no fault of Willowtree) and instead of Frank charging us for delaying the project, he worked around the issues and delays and still came within a couple days of the original timeline we discussed. We ran into other minor issues and again he just dealt with them with no drama or sudden unexpected charges. When everything was done on his job, he insisted I be home to meet the city inspector and to make sure that I knew the rest of the process we needed to go through to get the rest of the work done and approved by the city. He really didn’t need to do any of this. What completely shocked me and my wife was that Frank actually went out of his way to make some recommendations directly to our general contractor on how he would approach the rest of the project and what he would do to really make things look good. Seriously? Helping another GC on a job...? He did this in an unassuming way so that it didn’t come off as arrogant but rather just wanted to help make sure we were happy with the overall renovation. If we didn’t already have a GC, we would have just kept Willowtree and Frank on to do the rest of the job as it would have been stress free. They did the job on time and the final price was exactly what we contracted for with no hidden surprises at all. Thanks Frank and Willowtree!!!!

Company Response

Thank you for your kind and honest words. This was the best detailed review we have received and really appreciate the time you spent to write it. It really was a great pleasure working with you in this project. You made it so easy for our crew members to work at the site by trusting willowtree to carry on the work to the end.

Regards,
Frank

Stay away from York Mills Construction. They will do a great job of selling you on their work and the warranty they provide but it’s all a false. His "crew" did a horrible job replacing our roof. There’s roofing nails exposed which are already rusting, shingles that are curling up already (even though the roof is only 1 year old) and shingles that are not installed properly as they are not overlapping each other. I have tried calling Zach back multiple times and he doesn't return calls from his cell phone or from his office. When I finally tracked him down he told me he would come and check out or problem but that again was another one of his lines. Lastly, I wish I would have checked their office address. Their mailing address is a post office box at a Shoppers Drug Mart so you have no way of actually tracking them down at all. Stay away from these guys or face being ripped off like we were.

We went through a reno from hell and had our 1st contractor install new windows and doors. Needless to say, they were terrible windows, installed poorly and were just bad quality. So we decided to replace them with new windows. We did a lot of research, met with over 5 different window companies and then got lucky to learn about Inline. After my wife's friend heard about our experience, she recommended Inline and provided Bernard's phone number. Viv called Bernard and scheduled an appointment. Every interaction from the first meeting with Bernard, to the manufacturing plant tour, to ordering the windows/sliding door to installing could not have been a better experience. The true customer experience comes when you run into an issue. We ordered windows with prairie grills but unfortunately when they showed up there was a mistake and one of the windows didn't have the grills. I was worried about what would happen so I called Bernard. He asked me to confirm which window was missed and told me he would have the replacement glass the next day for the installers to replace. I found it hard to believe but he assured me it would be taken care of with no questions at all. The next day when the installers came back they had the replacement glass and fixed everything. You really find out all about a company when you run into an issue. I can honestly say that we could not be happier with how things turned out. I would provide a reference for Inline and Bernard any day. When it stops raining, I'll take pictures and post them here for you to see the before and after... Cheers, Carlo BTW, Bernard also recommended Mike for the install. We're really happy he did as Mike was a real honest man and did a great job.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Just keep doing the same thing. They are absolutely perfect. Our neighbour is now going to purchase windows from Inline after seeing our windows and door.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Speak with a window company and installer that only installs windows and doors.
