We hired Big City Windows for the replacement of 3 basement windows. The price was in line with other companies. The work was done in the expected time frame (8 to 10 weeks) (we have standard size windows so that might have help). Daniel and Marjorie (contractors for the company) did the work today. Very pleasant to work with. They explained the work, did a professional job, even did more than what was expected. They cleaned up once the work was done. Very good workpersonship and great team work. The office staff is also pleasant to deal with. Love the windows. I would recommend that company for that type of work.

I found Wamboldt company by doing a search on Homestar and decided to use their services based on their excellent reviews and rating. We needed to have our AC unit raised to resolve flooding issues. From the start, the company was very responsive and always answer questions/ replied to emails or texts within 24 hours (it's excellent customer service in my book). The price of the quote was reasonable based on the work to be done, which was basically to reinstall the AC unit and making sure it was in perfect working order (Pump down air conditioner, remove from existing line set, install brackets, reinstall air conditioner, braze in new fittings, pressure test to ensure no leaks, vacuum system, crack lines and start system up. Test through to ensure proper operation. Add refrigerant if necessary). The team showed up, started to work and got things done professionally and promptly. Very courteous, knowledgeable and responsive staff. I would definitely recommend them. Good work all around.

We hired MacKinnon Reid 12 years ago to do the front retaining wall, walkway and all. it was expensive but the quality of the work and attention to details was worth it. 12 years later, we rehire the company (thinking it was still owned by MacKinnon Reid) to rebuild the retaining wall and front walkway. The work done was fine but they lacked the attention to details that made this company so great when Peter Reid was owner. I would not hire them to do new work at my house. Good guys but for that price, I expected more. (below is a picture of one of the paver on the walkway they relayed. They put it upside down and it's smack in the middle of the step. :(

Great team, professional friendly crew. Reasonably priced. They did the work, cleaned the work area within 45 minutes. I think they appreciated when I told them not to worry about the work area. It will grow back ;) I will definitely hire them again

Our gas fire place would not stay on this morning (Dec 30, 2019). With ice rain, snow blowing and all, Robin told us last year when he came over in ice rain, that the cap on the gas fireplace can become blocked and the fireplace shuts off automatically as a safety measure. Same thing happened today. I contacted Robin in hope that he could help us. He directed me over the phone on how to get it staying on. His instructions were clear and simple and now we have fire. " Give a woman a fish and she will cook a meal for a day. Show her how to fish and she will feed the whole family over the holidays" ;) Thank you very much Robin for the excellent service. May the new year bring you health, happiness and prosperity.

Disappointed (no more (see update below). We had Horizon plumbing come over for a clogged basement sink and tub. Nice guy, did the job but lasted only about 2 months. It is still clogged. Called them back to see if the work was under warranty and if they could come back. We contacted them 3 times, got 1 short email then nothing. I understand it is a small repair, maybe not worth the trouble to come back but at least, contact me to let me know. We will contact another plumber. ***** Update**** Marc Rainville contacted me to come in to fix the problem. He did this morning. We discussed the "communication/disappointment issue" and got things straightened out. I'm glad I gave him a chance to make things right. Now as for the plumbing issue, he explained what was the problem and he fixed it in no time. He offered me a refund but I refused cause all work deserves a pay (food, a hug but in his case money and a little advice lol). For contacting me so quickly and making it right, I decided to change the rating. We will most definitely hire the company again, if there is ever a need.

We hired this company to replace the fascia and gutters that a previous company had totally botch when they replace the gutters some years ago. The workmanship and work done was excellent and we strongly recommend this company. Thank you for the excellent work done (work was done in May 2017).

Robin and Connor did an amazing job on replacing the 30 y/o gas fireplace with this beautiful Valor G3 fireplace. While the product is beautiful, the workmanship and quality of the work done made us glad we did business with Fireplace West. They were quick, easy to work with and responsible. Thank you

The door looks great now but the installation was frustrating. The had to come back 4 - 5 times to fix problems with the measurements, inside molding, the outside door sill, with the weather stripping. The staff is nice and did follow up quickly but at that price for one door and side light, one would expect more (had to tell them how to fix the outside door sill). It's an OK company.
