LLoyd Empire Movers provided first rate service and made our stressful inter-city household move worry-free. Just before the Christmas holidays and in the midst of a global pandemic, we moved our family from Ottawa to Toronto. Mike’s team were fast, friendly and efficient. They picked up from 2 locations, stored our contents for 48 hours, and delivered on schedule. The moving team did an expert job and handled our contents with care. Mike’s cost estimates were fair and transparent, and when we came in slightly underweight, he lowered the bill. We don’t plan to move again for a long time, but if we did, we’d hire them without hesitation. We strongly recommend them.

Excellent week-end service. Barry responded within minutes of posting and had Jamie immediately dispatched, despite the early morning, weekend request. Our family recently moved from Toronto to Ottawa, so we have experience installing two garage doors at two different houses in less than a year, which makes us unsuspecting experts. We have had amazing service from Garage Door Depot in Toronto and Ottawa, but the service in our nation's capital was absolutely second to none. Our door is the strongest, most insulated and most durable we have ever seen. Our motor is whisper quiet. The design is modern, crisp and clean. The price is absolutely reasonable and fair for the quality of product and service. But what stands out most was the incredible service. Greg (and his dog Dodger) was warm and friendly, communicative and helpful, affable and accommodating, and thoughtful beyond compare. He talked us through our choices, guided us with respect and was an absolute dream with our toddler daughter who he apprenticed throughout the installation. To top things off, he will be installing our old garage door, free of a charge, to someone on veteran's assistance. That is a quality of person that you don't encounter every day. We give our strong and unreserved endorsement of Greg's company.

I got a great new job in another city and had to prep my house for sale at warp speed. I contacted Road Runners based on the strength of their HomeStars Reviews and they over-delivered on every aspect of the pack and move for storage. They were here with less three days notice and cleared the decks for a four-man pack and move over two days. Their quote came in under the next best offer by a significant amount but the quality of their service was absolutely top shelf. The two owners were on hand for the move and they took the utmost care with our belongings. At the end of the day, they even found additional savings compared to their original quote and passed them along to me. It was really more than I could have asked for and they turned a stressful, last minute move into a breeze. We will be working with them again soon, when we close the sale on our house and move to our new one. We know that we will be in great hands.

Absolute best contractors we have ever hired. Shortly after buying a 90 year old house in Toronto, a pre-existing broken pipe backed up causing water damage in the basement bathroom and rec room. Restoration 1 handled our renovation from start to finish. Since we ran an insurance claim, we decided to use the opportunity to fully renovate the basement bathroom and rec room. Their team was first rate, walking us through every step of the way. Account manager Eric was on hand and available throughout the process, making multiple visits and keeping open the lines of communication. However, it was Rob's handling of the renovations that really made their work first rate. As a result, we have added value to our house with a beautiful new bathroom, replacing a shallow 5' tub with a 6' soaker tub, adding heated flooring and running beautiful porcelain tile throughout the basement. Rob's advice was thoughtful, anticipated our needs, and always keeping cost in mind. His work was absolutely first rate, with beautiful finishes and an expert attention to detail. We would recommend him to everyone we know. A stressful emergency for new homeowners was turned into an impressive improvement to our home ... and just in time for our new baby to be born at home (and in the new bathtub that Rob installed).

A terrible and sketchy job! Sean and his son Matt were recommended to us by a reliable contractor and we expected professionalism, if nothing else. We were sorely disappointed. Our open concept home had no railings or bannisters on the main floor, second floor or stairs, we needed glass inserted into the second floor bannisters and floor-to-ceiling glass walls installed on the main floor. They had the glass custom cut and installed for a good price, however, the finishes were so poorly done that they were better not done at all. Making matters worse, these sketchy characters started ducking my calls (I was always polite and respectful) and never completed the job. When I tricked them into answering the phone (by using another line) they apologized profusely but only to blow me off again. They agreed that their workmanship had been sloppy and shameful and promised to come fix it but only to get me off the phone. As my wife says, "these guys have no intention of making good on their promises." It was an incredibly disappointing experience that need not have happened. However, I blame myself, in part, for not picking up on the early warning signs. They were always poorly organized and unreliable. Failing to follow up for days and then contacting me to come that same day, often late at night. When I offered the first downpayment, they pressed for an additional downpayment (amounting to over 3/4 of the full cost), which seemed unprofessional and a bit desperate. When issues started arising, they played one off the other and their story kept changing. In all, we held back our final payment, but we are stuck with aluminum finishes that are jagged, hazardous to children and shockingly amateurish to look at. We haven't heard from them again.

We had a serious issue with a broken gas fireplace in our house right after we bought it. The fireplace is older and the company has gone out of business. Imran had new logs custom made for our unit and gerry-rigged a new grill that looks and fits perfectly. It was brilliant work ... and it is was just in time for our new baby. Last winter was incredible cold and Imran's wife, who does the scheduling was aware that we were expecting a baby in March. She squeezed us in at the last minute to get the install complete only days before the baby arrived. It was perfect timing and we are greatly in their debt. They even gave us a special discount on the custom work as a present for the new baby. Their work was professional, fast and affordable, but most importantly, they are some of the nicest people we've met! Thanks very much for the great work! Excellent work, great communication from Tom and a great price. Estimates ranged from $5,000 (questionable craftsmanship) to $14,000, but Tom priced us at a very reasonable $7,900 and squeezed us in before the end of season in early December. He brought a big crew and got the job done in one day, with incredible clean up. They discovered 5 layers of roofing piled on top, including the original cedar. They pulled the whole thing off and built a brand new roof with 2inch ISO board and a top-notch torch down. We would definitely recommend them to anyone!

We discovered a leak in the bulkhead in the basement and traced it back to a pipe under the kitchen sink that wasn't properly affixed with glue. It is likely and old plumbing job that was shoddy but didn't become a problem until the pipe was dislodged. Our plumbing technician, Brian, came out on the Canada Day holiday and had the problem fixed in short order, with minimal mess. This is our second experience with Mr. Rooter and we've been well served both times.
