Consumer BEWARE

I selected TORR as the contractor to install an HVAC unit in our commercial space. I met with Harman (Owner), he seemed genuine & knowledgeable, But boy was I mislead. It was recommended to install the unit inside up on the mezzanine and that this was standard practice. Date of install, Harman sent his crew, they arrived late and bounced ladders off of our walls as they all piled in through the main office door - I guess it wasn't common sense to enter through the shop? It would have made things a whole lot easier, less of a distraction for us and caused less damage to property. Once work started, we left them to it, come lunchtime staff went to the fridge to grab their belongings only to find that the fridge had been unplugged for hours and things that should have been cold were no longer and in its place was an extension cord plugged in used by TORR to plug in their power tools, that cord wrapped around the door of the fridge and kept the door ajar so what was cold was getting warmer. (What boggles my mind is, if you were looking for power, why wouldnt you have just used the outlet that was empty literally 2ft closer to the mezzanine on its own circuit OR ask us which plug would work best) Fast forward to the completion of the install (This took over a week of coming and goingIve seen buildings erected in less time than it took TORR to install this HVAC). Harman came back in, told me his crew was done, reviewed how things worked reminds me about payment and left. I kept the heat on in the office and continue working a few hours, (This is on a Saturday, no staff in) when I was getting ready to call it a day, I head into the shop to lock up when I open the door I was hit with freezing cold air. I went to both the units, and they were blowing warm air but when I looked up to the HVAC unit on the mezzanine, it was literally frozen. I climbed up the ladder to find that the unit exhaust was blowing more cold air than any warm air that the wall mounted units were producing. I immediately called HarmanNo answer, I sent him and email, he replies Hi Jenn, Then the best option is to install the unit on the roof of your building. We can get this done pretty quick. This week is fully booked, but we could possibly come in on Saturday March 18 and aim to be done by the evening. Let me know if this sounds good to you. Regarding the cover, its been ordered and well replace it once it comes in. The best option would be to install the unit on the roof? Then why didnt you say that on day 1? So here we are waiting AGAIN, I call Harman to confirm install and that he called for the permit, Harman replied Ya, we are all set for Saturday and have everything we need to get it done, I have made all the arrangements for the crane truck, the roofer and my own electrician will do the wiring GREAT! (WRONG yet again)
No permit was ever pulled-Our electrician who had to fix the electrical work that TORRs guy (After TORR ghosted us and avoided our phone calls, emails and text messages) made the following statements: Dry connectors were used The strands of the copper wire were cut due to incorrectly stripping insulation The strands of the aluminum conductors were cut due to the incorrect stripping of insulations No penetrox was used on aluminum wires No proper ground done just wrapped the copper wire around aluminum ground The plastic on the connectors was already starting to melt which is a fire hazard and you can see the broken piece of the aluminum conductor inside. The damaged covers have still to this day have never been provided. Attached photos of the hack job speak for themselves. Do not get fooled like I did, stay far away from this outfit, zero integrity, workmanship is shoddy and who ever certified this company needs to take a better look at who it is that they are backing.

HVAC

We needed some mini split and heat pump install done at our home in North Burnaby. Unfortunately, central air is not an option due to our in-floor heating and no ducts. As we always do when looking for a new trade, we had several companies come out to quote. I thought a few sounded very good and knowledgeable until Harmon from TORR came out.
Our main level is about 1400sf of open floor plan with a great deal of windows in the back of the house. The easy install, the way all the other companies had quotes, was an outside wall and not in a spot that would cool the whole main floor very well. When Harmon came for his quote, he pointed this out right from the start and recommended a much more central location for better coverage. This require some difficult piping to achieve yet his quote was still one of the most competitive we received and well under some other companies. TORR also installed a new mini split in our master suite, once again not in the easy spot. My wife wanted it on a specific wall as not take away the aesthetics of the room.
Dealing with TORR was top notch. Communication and scheduling were excellent. All the staff were very respectful to the house and our cats. Work was all done professionally, Harmon took great care in checking over the completed project.
We were so happy with the final product that my wifes parents had him out a few weeks later for a full central air install. As seniors theyre always nervous about being taken advantage of but once again Harmon was fair with his quote, scheduling was fast and on time. Once all was completed the in-laws had nothing but good things to say about him and his crew.
Would recommend TORR to anyone looking.
Weve used our system a little so far and no complaints at all. Lets hope this summer is more comfortable that last!

New furnace installation

I highly recommend hiring them for HVAC Projects. They were professional and honest. They advised me different options and helped me make a decision. Price was fair, I compared with other HVAC companies and these guys were without a doubt the best and honest. They did not rush and finished the job, as it should be. My old furnace was located in attic and they managed the new furnace installation quite well. They repeatedly mentioned that they will do the job as if it’s their house. I am glad I found them, else it was confusing. I am a super happy customer.
