Hercules Moving Company Inc

Pros: Professionals and very careful with the piano and the house. On time and very friendly.
Cons: Although I had communicated that the pick up location had an elevator, I wasn’t told that there will be an extra charge of $50 for tilting the piano to fit in the elevator.

Hercules saved me in a last minute nightmare where they came late at night the same day to help a stuck situation.

Another company who were so unprofessional and rude and did not refund me for a piano moving job they didn't complete and left the piano on my apartment landing outside the door. The awful company was there for hours swearing and stomping through my apartment, using the washroom and not flushing.

Hercules then came in the evening after their work hours and were able to get it in in 15 minutes - SAVIOURS. They were polite, reassuring and very professional. They went above and beyond to reassemble and give me tips. Should have called them first and I will be calling them when I move next time.

Wow! We used Hercules to move from the city to an 1 hour north. They confirmed my move the night before and they arrived on time as promised. The team (6 men) were professional, organized, friendly and worked very well together. The onsite team Co-Ordinator made sure they were all informed and had their duties assigned. They used protective runners throughout the house. These guys wrapped/protected every piece of furniture we moved. I also rented reusable totes from them for packing all my other items in, which made stacking and labeling easy. Also added additional protection to my items. The team did not stop...they did not take breaks...they worked hard! Now, I was also organized myself...but these were by far the best moving company I have ever used. I highly recommend them and if I ever move again they will be my only phone call.

Simon and his crew were fantastic! They arrived on time, worked tirelessly until everything was out of the apartment and made sure everything was safely packed so nothing would be damaged. Simon was very attentive and consistently asked if I liked how things were going and how the setup was. They made the entire moving process seamless and stress-free.

They underestimated by 1.5 hours but worse they charged 25.00 x2 for Mattress bags which we didn't order nor request.The part that irked me the most is that the movers falsely said we were told there would be a charge...i was present when the mattress was being wrapped.
After speaking to the sales Manager who contacted the crew they admitted that they didn't tell us there would be a charge for the 2 bags and also acknowledged that in the contract i didn't order the bags.Additionally they charged us more for the truck than the contract stated.
The crew were efficient and friendly but didn't need to resort to false statements to pad the moving cost.
Management refused to reimburse me for the added costs which is all you need to know about the credibility and quality of management and ownership.

How can one trust a company that won't stand behind their contracts and further more won't rectify an obvious indiscretion to keep the customer happy..surely it would be better for future business to refund the 67.80 owed than risk their reputation..Well clearly that's not the case.As a self employed person i spend far more than that on advertising and wouldn't risk the bad reviews over such a tiny amount.

We were so nice to the crew; we gave them 6 bottles of water,donuts and bagels and this is how we are repaid for our kindness.

So as my title states; i fully understand that not always do things go perfectly.But i judge companies on how they handle adversity and if handled properly that's what makes them an excellent company...

I'm posting a followup to my earlier review.
After several calls,emails i finally received 60.00 back.

Companies should learn that how customers feel after a transaction is completed reflects in their satisfaction and opinion of the Company and whether they will refer others to that company..so leaving with a bad taste is not a recipe for success.

That said i will commend the company for finally realizing their error and that hopefully they can have a more transparent policy regarding extra charges that customers don't expect.

HMS helped me move from Montreal to Whitby earlier this year in Feb (pre-covid).

Their pre-sales service and response time was exceptional. Professional and courteous communication leading up to the moving day at which point the screw ups began:

1. "head" mover came in with a very bad mood. Rude and slightly intimidating to a relative who was overseeing the move while i was at work, his unacceptable behaviour forced me to get one of my staff to leave work and assist her in dealing with this guy (costing me his wage for the afternoon). Mover did soften up once faced with another man and apologized to me later because he was asked to by his customer service rep.

2. Movers forgot 2 boxes and expensive gym equipment outside the elevator bank during move. Thankfully nothing went missing but had to arrange a 2nd pickup the following day (when I was scheduled to close on sale of the condo). Had to push close date by a day as the condo was not empty and i could not exchange keys, costing me a few hundred $$.

3. Due to both of these incidents, I asked to speak to owner to review the service provided and was assured by their Customer Service rep that a call would be arranged.

4. Delivery was made on schedule 1 week later. The owner never called back despite numerous follow-ups, the mover would not deliver my things without payment in full (which I was disputing due to the costs I incurred related to their screw ups), they charged me a ridiculous 2% CC service fee (who has $3k in cash sitting around??) and their movers proceeded to break a small coffee table (from ikea, not expensive but still annoying) during the unloading.

5. Numerous attempts to contact them after, asking for a courtesy call and some kind of after-sale support to compensate for the costs incurred due to their work. 0 response until 5 months later when i was offered $20 for the "flimsy" table.

They just dont give a crap. They get a lot of business because their service is in demand, they charge a premium for it, and whoever doesn't like it can shove it. Will definitely never work with again

I can't speak to the quality of their moving, and maybe they're good at local moves, but this company misrepresented itself for months and left me scrambling to find another moving company only two days before the actual scheduled move.

I specifically called and booked them to handle a container of furniture coming into a rail terminal, and then deliver the furniture to my house, almost two months in advance. Anna from Hercules assured me on the phone at least three times that they were able to do this pickup at the rail terminal, and would be able to unload it there. She specifically confirmed multiple times that I wouldn't need to contact a third party to deal with the container and Hercules could handle the whole thing. I gave them the actual CP rail terminal address and pickup number weeks in advance.

Two days before the container arrived, I called to check up on things and was told by Igor (Anna went on vacation that week) that they aren't licensed to pickup at the rail terminal and that they didn't know how to use the pickup number. He suggested I call another company myself, pay them additional money and have them pickup the container and bring it to Hercules' warehouse. He then tried to blame me because because they confused CN rail with CP rail, even though I made it clear it the pickup location could be CP rail almost a month before through multiple emails and calls. I doubt that they are able to accomplish either and they should stop telling people that they have these capabilities.

From the outset I only booked them because they falsely claimed they could handle the whole process. I had to immediately find another moving company in two days who actually did the container pickup and unloading without a hitch, and were cheaper to boot.

I would not recommend Hercules to anyone.

I had an outstanding experience with Hercules, moving my one-bedroom apartment within Toronto. The movers showed up on time, patiently negotiated a difficult situation where someone else was using the loading dock, were unfailingly polite and respectful at all times, took care with my possessions, and were amazingly fast and efficient. I was very comfortable with them and would hire them again for any future moves.

It was my first time hiring a professional moving company. I was initially very reluctant to pay for a service I was used to doing myself but I had some large and fragile items that had to go from Quebec to Ontario and I'm really glad I chose Hercules Moving Company for the job. My moving coordinator was quick to respond to any questions I had during the process and the two movers were extremely organized and efficient for pickup and delivery. They did a great job with my custom packing needs as well. 100% worth the money.

I called around and got a few quotes to move a piano from north York to midtown. They were all a bit higher than Hercules and Hercules was available two days later from my initial call. They came right away in the morning and were extremely quick, careful and efficient. The piano was wrapped carefully and they laid cloths all over the floors so that they didn’t damage anything. They were very professional and gentle, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to move.
