Tar And Chip Ottawa

Installation was completed 2019 mid-September after the excavation which was completed in early August. Our installation kept being delayed (6 weeks). We found out that they were replacing other clients' driveways that they had installed the year prior due to a bad batch of aggregate. Driveway looked great until the first winter. and every winter after that brought more damages. We are now April 2023 and our driveway looks like a 15-year old unmaintained asphalt driveway that is cracked, patched, discolored, stained and indented from the weigh of a vehicle. We chose the BLACK Smoke Granite color for our driveway with an interlock curb. First photo: top dark color as installed vs bottom gray color that we have now. They sprayed their resin topcoat in September of 2020 but the color faded to a dull gray a few weeks after the installation. Second Photo: cracks appeared in the winter of 2021 with additional ones forming every winter after that. Third Photo: Staining under carport from humid leaf bags and winter salt stains from the vehicle. PurePave suggested powerwashing to get rid of these stains.
Powerwashing DOES NOT take off these stains. CEO states:
"These photos reveal there was likely and issue with moisture contamination during the installation. Absolutely should not look like this or have a crack. Wed like an excellent review from you as expected and provide you with what you deserve as our client". Director of engineering states: " the amount of clear seal applied on your driveway after the installation process was not enough to stand the UV radiation and the actual use of your driveway". According to the marketing pamphlet given to us at the 2019 Spring Home Show, "PurePave driveways are unaffected by the frost-thaw cycles as water is allowed to "breathe" as water freezes and liquifies, which leads to the best longevity of all the pavements in our climate". Furthermore, "Unlike asphalt, PurePave is not oxidized by sunlight". As you can see by the first and second photo, their statements are FALSE. We can attest that PurePave's after-sales promises lack the follow-through that you expect as we have been strung along for the last 3 years.

In the spring and summer of 2018 we hired Tar and Chip Ottawa to resurface out 1/2 km driveway. Additional work was required to ensure a good foundation and to protect against flooding along the causeway. We paid the company $98,600+ for the work. It looked good for the first year but we were not satisfied with the way they left the edging; raw and deep. By the second year the tar began cracking and chipping and each year since then has become more broken, pitted and unstable. We contacted the company numerous times over the years and have received hollow promises for the "annual inspections". There is always an excuse. They have never been back. I have posted several reviews trying to warn others, but somehow these slick operators have managed to promise me repair if I take down the review. No More. I'm tired of tracking bits of gravel into the house every day all year round, I'm tired of the driveway looking worse than it did before we gave these jokers almost $100, 000. A full refund is the only satisfaction at this point, so that we can get asphalt.

Yes, the product looks like a million bucks the first year (I am in Orleans), but mine started getting loose after the first winter. TAC is now giving me two choices: to have it repaired each spring for free until the warranty ends and start paying for repairs after that OR pay them $1300 for new asphalt driveway. Since sending them pics of my crumbling driveway, the company has been very hard to reach and to deal with; I had to wait months to even get a visit of a rep. I am fed up. I do not recommend this product or this company.

They did a terrible job that started in 2016, they never finished it even though they said they would. Now they ignore my calls. I wish I could fix this mess.

Moustafa, the representative, was very friendly and helpful, and did his best to answer any questions we had and to make sure everything was fine.
The start of the renovation was quick but the whole process was a bit lengthy, but only because of poor weather conditions, other than that they worked very fast and efficiently , we were very satisfied with the work done. Would recommend

TAC Ottawa replaced our driveway (asphalt) with their purepave product. They also replaced our sidewalk with some pavers and extended some concrete retaining walls. Our driveway has two parts - one part slopes up to the house; the other slopes down to the garage. The final product exceeded all expectations. High quality installation. Great attention to detail. It was a pleasure to have the TAC team around our house. Good people. Purepave should be the future for driveways. It is a great look. You have lots (maybe too much) choice on colour. The permeable dimension was critical selling point for us - with a downward sloping driveway we need to pay close attention to drainage. With our previous asphalt driveway we invested significant resources in a driveway water drain, heat coil, sink hole and sump pump. To my knowledge, there is no better driveway product on the market than purepave.

Installed last summer. Had steps and walkway done. Service was great up until I complained that the stairs looked completely awful. False sales pitch that they knew what they were doing. The installation was shawdy. Used a rubber edging that would come off with first shoveling, could see screws, uneven. Just awful. Had them remove the steps work and battled for a refund. Kept the walkway bse it looked good.
Now its post winter and we see soil and salt stains on the walkway so we pull out the pressure washer just as they told us and a lo and behold....no difference. Still soil and salt marks. I email them....no reply!

I had my driveway replaced late in the fall of 2020. Service was good from both the sales end as well as the crew. People often stop and look at the driveway and I feel that it definitely increases curb appeal.

Tar and Chip Ottawa came highly recommended and delivered a great product and excellent service. Alan and Sanad were very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to make sure everything was properly applied and graded on our shared and challenging lot.
I am an architect and will definitely be looking for opportunities to use both the product and team again!

We highly recommend Tar and Chip Ottawa, our driveway and front walk were completely redone and also extended in October 2020 and we are extremely pleased. We were looking for an alternative to asphalt paving which cracks, heaves, needs yearly sealing and interlocking stones which tend to heave and attracts weeds. The multi-red granite “Purepave” paving looks superb and is porous, anti-slip and does not heave or crack. It is maintenance free and comes with a 10 yr warranty. Many of our neighbours stopped by and told us how beautiful our new driveway looked.
