Advantage Airtech Climatecare

We bought a disaster of an air conditioner for our first house. I wish I could find the guy listed here. I don't even think he's in the yellowpages anymore. Anyhow, after that we were a lot more cautious with the next purchase. Advantage did an amazing job, not only selling us the best (and quietest) air conditioner ever (a York), but they took over the service from the builder on the furnace and have done an outstanding job. A1!

Advantage Airtech was recommended to me by a family member. I paid to have a new furnace, air conditioner and hot water tank installed but all a got was major problems. There work was extremely sloppy, they didn’t follow building code and I had nothing but problems with them. They had to come back numerous times to fix there poor workmanship which they were always late by at least 2+ hours, one time not even showing up without a phone call after I took time off of work to be at home.

Issues:
The vent pipe from the hot water tank came apart in the basement and was leaking carbon monoxide into the basement. To them this wasn’t a big issue and they didn’t show up to fix it until 2 days later. I guess they didn’t realize they had to clean the pvc pipe before they glued it.

They left a copper water line leaning against an electrical box up in the floor joist.

They left electrical wire laying on top of an air duct and never stapled it to the floor joist. This was for about 10 feet.

They never sealed around the furnace and hot air was leaking out at every joint. Kinda defeats the purpose of a high efficiency furnace
They never sealed around the exhaust pipes leaving the house in the header . This allowed cold air poor into my basement all winter long.

They never stapled water lines onto the joists. They just let them hang down or let them lean against metal duct work.

An Enbridge inspector came by to unlock the gas meter so they could test the furnace. When he came by to do his inspection he refused to turn the gas on because they never had the furnace installed correctly. He had to come back a few hours later after telling them what to fix.

Folks these are just a few of the issues I had with this company. The pictures speek for themselves. I could only upload 5 but if i had my way I would of put up 30 more.

I wouldn’t recommend these guys to my worst enemy. Please do yourself a huge favor and look somewhere else. Don’t hire this company. You don’t want to experience what happened to me.

We had the motor replaced on my 13 yr old Carrier furnace in June 2010 after it had seized when being cleaned by another company. The motor on the furnace had not worked properly since a few weeks after it was installed only working on the 'Auto' setting of the thermostat when it was set in the 'ON' position. We have an Electronic Air Cleaner installed in the ductwork which to function properly the furnace fan needs to be running all the time ie: in the 'ON' position. I had the company that installed the motor in to check it and they told me the problem was a dirty filter. I changed the filter and there was no change in the function of the motor. I decided to change companies and called Advantage Airtech instead because they are a Carrier Dealer as I wanted the furnace checked out including the motor. The serviceman could not find anything wrong with the fan motor or any of the other furnace components as the furnace was functioning perfectly while they were here with the fan motor running when the burner wasn't lit. He told me that the problem was probably a failing circuit board which would cost approx $500. He recommended that we not bother replacing the circuit board because of the cost,and also the house was heating according to the setting on the Thermostat and the fan motor was functioning to keep the house warm. The serviceman was very pleasant and did an excellent job checking the function of the furnace components and so I agreed with the serviceman that at this time the circuit board shouldn't be changed. I was very pleased with this company.

When we purchased our house I didn't notice but the previous owner had wired the fan to run continuously on the furnace, Advantage Air Tech was nice enough to come over and re wire the furnace so that we could control the fan and turn it on and off at our will.

This showed up in a search as one of the York brand authorized dealer as I would like to replace mine with the same brand. The guy showed up on time for the estimate and expalined thoroughly including all the eligible rebates. The installation guys showed up a week later right on time. They know what they were doing, they finsihed the work (installation of a new furnace) in < 4hrs and the only thing I need to do after is sweep the floor. Nice work guys.

I had contracted them to inspect my 20 year old furnace. The technician showed up 1.5 hrs late. He then, in quite a hurry, inspected the heat exchanger and told me it was defective. Not knowing any better I believed him. He told me it was defective and would have to be shut off and red tagged and that a sales guy would bring me the red tag. I made an appointment with Doug who showed up at my house and he tried to sell me a furnace. He didn't have the red tag and told me he wasn't sure why the technician hadn't attached it to the furnace like he was required to by law. I really had a bad taste in my mouth at this point so I called around and got multiple qoutes. I ended up using another contractor and now have a great new furnace. When they took out the old one they mentioned that it didn't look too bad and put a camera inside to take a look. As it turns out the furnace was not defective and I could have potentially used it for a few more years. Do not trust this company. This, in my opinion, borderlines on FRAUD!!!

We found this company in the yellow pages and this company was the only company willing to give us a quote in person (no one wanted to come and give us an estimate). They were excellent--everyone on staff liked the owner (which really impressed us) and There were no delays, they came in on budget, they replaced something they took off (they upgraded us and didn't charge us too much for that). I recommended them to 2 neighbours!
