Appliance Repair

This is a fraud ring. They sucker you in with an $80 review of your problem. Then they do about $300-400 in unnecessary checks and cleanings, so that a basic repair becomes the cost of a new appliance. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID at all costs.

Dishwasher Repair

A mixed experience. The response was prompt and the service technician was friendly, chatty and still efficient.

BUT the pricing is crazy. The basic visit costs $80, which is waived if they do any work at all. There is no hourly rate and you get a price for the job - $320 + HST In my case, I was told the usual bafflegab about reprogramming the electronics, etc and a whole list of other technical sounding work, so I agreed to have the work done.

In reality, all the technician did on that front was to do the same reset I did myself. What he really did was pull bits of Freezie wrapper out of the deeper part of the filter. In all, the time spend working on it was less than 20 minutes and for that I had committed to paying $320+HST.

It is cleverly priced. You're already committed to at least $80, so the additional $240 needs to be weighed against the inconvenience of a broken dishwasher and the cost of calling out an alternative service. I want to be clear that I think tradespeople should be paid decently and a base-cost of say $200/hr would have been acceptable to me even if that "hour" only required 20 mins work (the guy still had to drive here and so on). But $320 for 20 mins and no hourly rate seems like gouging to me, especially as they make the situation sound more dire and complex until they have your signature.

Came to repair old Moffat clothes dryer

The repairman was here for one hour and said that I needed a new pulley on a very old Moffat clothes dryer. He did not have the part with him and said that it would have to be ordered, and that it would not take longer than 2 weeks. I called 2 weeks later after I never heard back from them. A CSR told me that a lady from parts would call me back, probably the next day. I waited 2 days without a reply. I called back again, only to be told by the parts lady that they could not find the pulley necessary to complete the work. So, I'm out $316, and they cannot and will not finish the repair. One hour and $316. Ridiculous!

Dryer will not dry

Super funny. The tech says the dryer duct is plugged and needs professional cleaning. When I removed the hose I can see outside (about a 6 inch run!)! There was no lint in the hose yet it was kinked. I was able to un-kink in 10 seconds. The CSR says I need all the ducts in the house cleaned as they are connected to the dryer vent! The apparently came from the head tech? Yet they wont talk to me? Anyone ever hear someone say a dryer vents into the home heating system? lol. Refuse refund and refuse to come back.

over the range microwave

Don't be fooled by these guys. the $80 doesn't get you anything. I called because my microwave won't heat food. they came in put a glass of water in the microwave and told me the problem with the microwave is that it doesn't heat food.....they offered to do diagnostics for $280. if they could fix it with parts from their truck it would approx $65 for parts. if it was anything else it would have to be ordered and would be more than that. I clarified that the $80 got me nothing. Yup. The $28o yielded no results either. Told me it was the magnetron which would cost an extra $545 (the microwave didn't even cost that much). found the part online for less than $100. Like the other reviews; shame on me; I didn't check the reviews before and now I see similar stories. I've paid the $280 and I still have a broken microwave.

Worst repair man ever

Terrible repair company. Told my wife that our cabinets would have to be taken apart to fix a microwave. Not true. I was able to take the microwave out in less than 5 minutes without disassembling the cabinet. Wanted $400 to fix the microwave without even opening it to diagnose the issue. These guys are awful.

Appliance Repair Swindlers

Don't even think about hiring these Appliance "repair" Guys (Men), they will find a way to take advantage of you. As described by others, they lure you with the initial $80, then make a promise to fix your appliance for ~$290 but it won't do. So to really, really fix it, they will ask for another ~$350+. They fooled me once, shame on them.
