Appliance Repairman

My parents called these guys because their dryer broke on Christmas.
They took $80 to come out and look at it but apparently their fee doesn’t include diagnosing what is wrong with the appliance. This fee is just for them to come out and look at the dryer. Sadly, I am not joking. If you want to know what is wrong with the dryer they cannot tell you because apparently the $80 dollar fee is just for showing up.
So my parents asked Igor the repairman if he can fix the dryer and he said that he might be able to but they have to pay $360 dollars. He said that he might order some parts but he will let them know ahead so they can decide if to do it or not. They felt uneasy as he was brash but wanted the dryer fixed so they agreed. After exactly 9 minutes of ‘work’ he said the motor is busted and said he must order a new one for $750. A brand-new dryer and WASHER cost $1,000 so this is outrageous and unreasonable. It actually shows that they NEVER had the intention of fixing the dryer at all.
We are $360 short and no working dryer. I called customer service and talked to the most condescending customer service person named Elona (after getting hung up on by customer service agent Stephanie). After repeated phone calls she finally offered a ‘goodwill’ discount of $75 but has not actually refunded ANY of the money yet.
This company makes their money when people like my mom find them on google without checking the reviews. They charge this quick ‘hit and run’ fee counting on the fact that there is always new people searching on google. They have no intention of ever actually repairing your appliance as that would take time and money. They should be shut down.
None of the reps or the repair man would give their full name and Elona said the owner is not involved in the business and you cannot ever speak to him.
It is too late for us to get our money back but hopefully this review saves one person from making the same mistake.

He misdiagnosed the problem. Charged $360 for the visit. And give a quote of $600-700 to replace the part of the dishwasher, which will have no effect because of the wrong diagnosis. We could buy a brand new dishwasher with what he/this company charged. Luckily, we found a REAL repairman, fixed our dishwasher with less than this company's one visit. I call the company to complain, they don't really care. I wish I have read all the real reviews, rather than the fake positive reviews the company has put on their ADs. So please don't be fooled by this company.

BEWARE! Do not use this company. In the midst of my Christmas baking the oven on my 11 year LG stove stopped working. I knew the problem, the broiler worked but not the bottom element. i needed a quick repair and called appliance repairman without doing a lot of research. My mistake! I should have read Homestars reviews! As I read all the negative reviews I see the pattern. They come to your home for an $80 service call, then immediately ask for a $280 fee upfront to diagnose and fix your appliance, plus parts of course! I asked about the $80 service charge and why they could not give an expense estimate before committing to the $280 and he just said that is the way it works! Red flags went up from the minute he entered my house. He took back off stove, tried turning oven on a couple times, refused to talk to me, and spent the next 1/2 hr outside on his phone in freezing cold weather. Said he could not get a signal in my house. Eventually he told me I needed a bottom heater, price $600 plus tax and available in 3 or 4 weeks, maybe! At this point I said no way and he left with $300 of my money. An unethical company , do sorry I allowed myself to be taken in.

They tell you $80 and then come to your house and charge $360 - by all the other reviews, it seems like this is the way the sucker you in.

Stay away from this company- i wish i would have searched the company before calling them.

If ever any one is planning to call these unprofessional so called repair people, then it will be better to throw away your appliance and buy a new one. Very recently I opened up my home to these people in my desperation to get my appliance fixed. The lady who booked in the call said the technician will come and then diagnose the issue and then will give a quote. $80 for the techs arrival and diagnostics. Great! The next day the tech arrives a young immature fellow , just touches the appliance and then said "I will have to service the mother board and the motor and it will cost $280/-. If agreed then I will waive off the $80/-!! Well do it then. To my great surprise once the work started one by one red flags were going up. I would have kicked them out of my house BUT before that he got me sign his $280/- and i thought let me enjoy the fun of him watching my appliance without any experience or knowledge of the repair. I would only consider that i have given my money as alms to these modern day artists!. He struggles to open up the appliance .... in addition his "tool bag" contained a few screwdrivers straight from the DOllar store!. He pried open the appliance without even knowing the easier way to release the latch and remove the cover! In that process damages the top of the appliance. Puts everything together and leaves stating will be back after informing the needed parts cost! Never heard again!
Such unprofessional and unethical company this is and should be dispatched over to Saudi Arabia where they will take good care of these kind of people! Never ever call these fellows...Let them take their begging bowls and go to Union Station and beg and earn a living rather than fooling people!!

that was the worst customer service that I've ever had. Technician came and just spent 30min to diagnose the issue and the $80 labour end-up to $361!! at the end he said I have to change a part - extra $600. I called customer service and asked them why he couldn't give me an expense estimate before starting his job and she kinda said this is what it is, do you want to order part or not!!! So rude!!
GUYS please don't waste your time and money!

I called them to see what was wrong with my washer that was making loud noises. He told me in order to see what was wrong he had to look inside, run tests etc and said the labour would be $280 + tx. Parts would be extra but he did not think we would need any expensive parts. I signed and I shouldn't have! A few minutes later he tells me I need a part that costs $1100!! I said NO, with that money I can buy a new washer and dryer! He had the nerve to try to convince me to do it. I asked him to leave.
I called the office to complain about the exorbitant fee and lack of transparency and the lady told me that I signed and that is the way it is.
Don't call unless you have money to throw away.

I got quoted $80 to come quote to fix my fridge, they came, took off the back panel and without doing anything, its $280 for Labour PLUS parts. The OLD bate and switch!!!! I don't feel they are TRUSTWORTHY. The quote is $280 for Labour to fix(and Estimate) NOT $80 to give me an estimate, they could have quoted me $280 from the get go. I recommend don’t calling them, use someone that’s reputable. $135 for the starter, $468.95 for 30 mins work. UNBELIVABLE, WHO earns $280/hr, or in this case it $560/hr, I think I see the BATE AND SWITCH. In middle of the repair, the guy wants me to make a payment to his office in MID REPAIR...am I missing something???? I said I’ll pay it once I see it up and running! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
When I said to the girl on the phone that this is ridiculous, she says, you'll pay the $80 or we'll send it to collections. Which means the unlawful play on words is going to effect your credit rating. Not worth it for $80!! How can these people get away with this???

These people are all laughable. From the repair man they send to your house to "fix" the problem, to the ladies who answer the phone. Long of short of it, my fridge was freezing everything, had a guy come in to fix it and charged me almost $300 for him to wipe down the rear of the fridge. Of course the fridge kept freezing everything so they ordered a part which I waited three weeks for, only to have the same guy come back (which is "policy", although I tried to fight having him in my home again) and when he arrived he said the wrong part was ordered and now I'm left waiting another at least 2 weeks for the part. The cost of the part is over $400 and the lady over the phone says she will take $20 off for my inconvenience. Absolutely ridiculous. RUN, DONT WALK FROM THESE PEOPLE!

A tech shows up, works for 30 minutes, charges us 280.00 for the labor then another 125.00 for the part. Which to us is still less than a new dryer. So we agreed. 2 days later the dryer breaks again (after many convo's with very unhelpful staff) and they said they would come back to address that issue, but should there be another one, they take no responsibility that the first tech messed up and left us without a working dryer. (After re-assuring what he's done will last another 10 years) Beyond ticked off and would NEVER recco them. We have lost 450.00 and now need to purchase a new dryer anyway.
