It was a pleasure dealing with this company. Ray provided me with a screen door for our new build. His information pamphlet included prices so no back and forth emails, he is honest and discussed all costs upfront as my door was an irregular size. He did not try to sell up the product with additional options. He accommodated me with my preferred date of installation and was very thorough with the installation and adjustments of closing speed. I am happy I gave RAM my project. I wish all contractors were as reliable and efficient.

We asked Ray to replace the ageing patio doors in our kitchen and office with doors that included blinds. We picked out doors that suited us with Ray and we obtained a price quotation.
When the doors were in, Ray installed them on budget and did a very good job. He was able to fix another window (added cost) that had some issues with closing.
We would use Ray again for any window or door problems.

After receiving several quotes for an exterior door I chose to go with R.A.M. Home Improvements. Why? Competitive pricing and a company that was open to considering alternatives - recycling a window insert that saved me $$$. Ray was also very pleasant to deal with. I liked that he was open to answering all my questions. Once the contract was in place and door ordered from the manufacturer Ray was here to make the install and did it in the time he said it would take, site clean-up was excellent. He did have some challenges with an old house quirks but he figured out a solution. I am very pleased with the price, service, product & installation. I chose Ray over 3 other vendors because of his professional manner when initially quoting the job, doing the actual work, promising a reasonable completion date, and finally doing the installation and cleanup. I will certainly be calling on him again for any other changes I may require.

Ray did an excellent job of replacing four upstairs windows on my Barrhaven townhouse. He came out to do an estimate, and gave me my options for replacement windows. Once I made my choice, we signed a contract and I made a deposit payment, and he ordered them made to size - as seems to be the way it is with windows these days. One window had an arch at the top instead of just being rectangular, and this added considerably to the price. I don't see any way around this, and in fact I had worried for years about being able to find a replacement window of such an unusual shape, so I was happy to find out that it was possible to custom make it to both size and shape. Ray came back about 4 weeks later and installed the windows, and was even considerate enough to work around my shift work sleeping schedule. I would highly recommend R.A.M and Ray for anyone in the Ottawa area that is looking to replace their windows.

Ray was referred to us by a friend, so we had the benefit of seeing the excellent work he had done at their home. However, it wasn’t until we actually met Ray that we were able to determine for ourselves if we could work with him.

Ray was one of three contractors we contacted to provide bids for the replacement of the main entrance of our home. From the first meeting he was professional; accommodating; and, no pressure. My wife had mentioned to the two other contractors that she would like to change from a single door with two sidelights to double doors; they had both provided reasons why this was not possible or recommended. Whereas Ray said that it was totally feasible. He then worked closely with us to ensure that what we were ordering was exactly what we wanted; thank goodness for his actual samples because the colour shown in the book was not the colour we wanted.

Ray’s price was competitive with the other two prices and the timeline was about the same but due to his accommodating attitude we decided to go with him. It was a good choice.

When he received the door, he promptly contacted us to make arrangements for the installation, which went very well. Ray paid great attention to each and every detail at every stage of the installation. He was very careful removing the old door so as not to cause any incidental damage. He took great care to ensure that the frame was installed level, plumb and square. Double doors are tricky – which is why most contractors shy away from them – but he took his time and made the necessary adjustments to ensure that the both doors where properly aligned and fit precisely in the jamb and at the astragal. It was not until everything lined up perfectly that he began to seal the opening. The installation took the full day but the finished result is flawless.

Ray was a consummate professional with a “can do” attitude but never the least bit pushy. I expect we will be calling on his services again in the future and have already recommended him to friends.

I have hired Ray on two occasions to replace a total of 8 windows in my house because of the excellent Homestars reviews and because he is a local small business. He did a great job, from the initial contact, through the estimates, the orders and installations. Very efficient and thorough, with a complete clean up after each day. He helped me find ways to best integrate the new window design into my heritage house, retaining the wood frame on the inside and matching the external window colour to the colour of the wood siding. He also had to custom-make several cuts and adaptations (and suggestions), which he did extremely well, keeping in mind my own tastes and wishes. He is very professional, highly competent, and keeps his word in all matters. I would recommend him most highly to anybody requiring this service.

We asked Ray and five other companies to come and give us estimates for replacement of all of our windows (17 openings) and two patio doors. Ray instilled in us the highest degree of confidence and we felt safe given that Ray not only did the estimate but would be the one doing the work as well. His price was very competitive with the lower end of the rest of the bids we had gathered. His calm demeanor and professionalism were assets to the job for sure. All went well with the installation and when Ray ran into difficulty when installing our Master Bedroom windows, he hit the issue head-on and devised a solution without any panic. The whole wall was drenched by a slow, long-term leak of water and all the studs and drywall were disintegrating. Ants had built homes in the wall to add insult to injury. Ray fixed everything. We're so happy with our Vinylbilt windows. They look great and we can't wait to see the positive affect on our utility bills. Ray also did some extra work to make a couple of steps leading from the patio doors to the back deck. He did an amazing job all around and we highly recommend him.
