Shed installation

I purchased a shed from Lowes on Mavis Road in Mississauga.

Peter and Kim at the General Contractors office were extremely helpful in getting hold of a shed for me and engaging a subcontractor to deliver and install the shed.

The subcontractor sent two guys and they were on time and completed the job. I’m very picky about the quality of work people do for me-and I have to say these guys were superb.

Everything was done correctly, all the parts and screws were in place and not over tightened. They even took the cardboard boxes into my garage. All in all a very pleasant experience!

Granite counter installation in my kitchen

Terrible at project management. Two months of constant follow up. Confusion over type of granite. Ordered bullnose finish at one price, then told it was misquoted and I need to pay another $275. Didn't know the granite installer could also install the kitchen sink so delays while they had an other plumber quote for the job. Great installation but would never use Lowe's again.

Best experience

In January 2018, we purchased a Whirlpool stove from Lowe’s in Etobicoke and were extremely satisfied with the service we received. When we placed the order, the electric range was not in stock, but Paul really got out of his way to expedite delivery. The crew that delivered the unit were very competent and installed it without damaging or soiling anything. A couple of years ago, we bought a fridge, a washer and a drier from Lowe’s and we have always been satisfied with their service and prices. We will not hesitate to recommend them to friends and relatives.

Kitchen Installation

Paid for a measure after doing the kitchen design during flyer sale. Raphael, vendor from Blackstone, contacts me 3 days later, plays games about his availability, knows I am only available after 5pm M-F, repeatedly refuses to book for next 2 weeks, disrespects me. At end of conversation, after the guessing game, he says he is fully booked and tries to imply he is only available during the day. I had to tell him repeatedly that I work during the day and not paid if I stay home and if I am not paid then there can't be any kitchen. Raphael could care less and repeatedly tells me he has "other customers" who come first. I told him I am a customer too and why wasn't I told he wouldn't be available for over a month. Raphael misled me in his only voicemail by telling me he called at 9am when my phone showed 5:24pm and he only called once but claimed to call multiple times. Therefore he is a dishonest as well. I told him I don't like the way he is treating me and want another vendor. I contacted Sam, Lowes Manager on Oct 12/16 who assured me that Lowes will provide another vendor and Gurinder, Kitchen Installation Manager will contact me with details tomorrow but it will take 2 weeks for the measure with new vendor. Gurinder leaves a voicemail on Oct 13/17 and proceeds to tell me to "THAT I SHOULD GET ALONG WITH RAPHAEL", the same vendor who insulted me and gave me a hard time on the phone regarding scheduling the measure. Gurinder proceeds to tell me they don't have another vendor and they use Blackstone owned by "ABDUL". I report this to Dan, Mger Lowes, and demand a refund on the unrefundable measure given this very bad treatment by both his vendor Raphael from Blackstone and Gurinder his Kitchen Installation Manager. Got my refund. Will never return. I would warn anyone against going to Lowes, especially this location. Why was Gurinder only pushing one vendor (Blackstone owned by Abdul) despite having customers waiting over a month for a measure. I knew I would have continuous problems with them afterwards. Take your money and run. If I paid the total amount upfront then this vendor and Lowes would hold me hostage and I would not have my kitchen until 2020.

Garden project

Went to Lowes Garden with my family. Many choices with the decent price. I found great customer service at the shop helping us to design for our garden at the back and in front of our house. Great help and the Home Stars reviewal method is another perfect way to thank the business and their staffs.

Dishwasher installation

Purchased a dishwasher from a great salesman who organized everything. The Lowes card application process was a bit slow and tedious but everything else went according to schedule. Recieved the sale price, the discount for the Lowes card and a week later when there was a special promo for installation service, was given a rebate on that too. The installation went smoothly. Very happy overall.

I wouldn’t recommend Lowe’s blind installation service to anyone

Do you know www.lowes.ca/ reviews your reviews? I was informed that my review below couldn’t be posted because “it did not meet all our website guidelines”. I immediately emailed them and asked “which guideline I did not comply with and where in my review the issue is, so that I can edit and repost it?”, I didn’t get any reply.
Here is my review.

I wouldn’t recommend Lowe’s blind installation service to anyone(It’s my experience from the Etobicoke one in Toronto, so it’s not about ones in USA).
When we pay for a product and service at a store like Lowe’s, we have trust that they will take responsibility if there is an issue with the product or if their service is bad. I was wrong. It was extremely difficult to get a refund for a product that had issues even after bad customer service(We never got any refund for the installation and only got a gift card for the blinds). I recommend anyone with similar issue dealing with a Lowe’s store to call the corporate customer service line to escalate above the store level (this was the only way we could receive even partial compensation).

We had to call and leave about 4 or 5 messages asking the salesperson to call us back after already waiting for 10 days after we got our windows measured and had visited the store about 3 times to pay for blinds and installation(The blinds were already in stock. All they had to do was cut them). Each time the salesperson promised to call us back but she never did(She never apologized about not keeping the promise). The last time we visited to make payment, the assistant manager told us that he couldn’t help us because only the salesperson has all the information about our windows(She promised that she would call us on that day, but she didn’t so we visited again). We were surprised that the company like Lowe’s doesn’t have a system where other staff can follow up when one is absent. The sales person called us the next day to help us make payment on the phone. A month after we paid for measurement(I’m positive it could easily take longer if we didn’t call and visit that many times), the installer came and installed 3 blinds out of 6.

During the installation, we realized that there were product issues(blinds didn’t retract properly, they were at a different level when retracted, and they were damaged from being cut) and called one of their assistant managers. He told us that we could return them and even suggested to take down the 3 blinds that were already hung as well. However, he advised us that we had to talk to the installation manager for the installation refund(We asked for a refund because we didn’t want to go through the whole process again with them. It took about at least 4 or 5 calls and 3 visits and still took 1 month).

My husband called the installation manager the next day. He told us that he couldn’t give us a refund even for the blinds because he disagreed the issue was with the product, he said it’s our taste (We had to come up with another issue later because there were more than 2 issues with the product). He promised to call us back before he took off at 430 pm on that day, but he didn’t. So we had to call the customer service and were told that they would let the store manager reach us within 24 hours. The next day the store manager called and told us that he would make the installation manager (who said would call us but never did!) call us(I could feel that the store manager wasn’t going to help us. He also never apologize for inconvenience that we went through). The installation manager called and told us the same thing, no refund for both blinds and installation. We couldn’t accept this, so we called the customer service again and were told that they would make the market director contact us within 1 business day. No one called again, so we called the customer service. They told us that they would make the regional manager call us within 1 business day. The regional manager never called us but the assistant manager from the store called us and asked us to send him photos with product damage. We sent the photos by email. We had to wait for 10 days after the assistant manager got back to us with the result. 2 weeks after we reported the product issue(we called the customer service a few times), the assistant manager informed us the vendor agreed to take the return, but we had the only 2 options:
1) Exchange to other blinds and get an installation without extra cost to the similar level of work. In other words, we would have to pay more if the work was more difficult(This was new to us because the salesperson never told us this before. He also mentioned that they can’t take any further returns after the exchange. I appreciated that he followed up with this matter at least while others didn’t, but I thought it’s not fair because it was not our fault that there were product issues and experienced bad service from them), or
2) Only get a gift card that we can use in any Lowe’s store but can’t get any credit for installation which was $220 before tax.
We didn’t want to deal with them any more so we gave up on the installation and chose to get the gift card for the blinds only.

We really don’t understand why:
1) They can’t give us a refund for the product(only store gift card) when the vendor agreed to take the return
2) No market director or regional manager ever called us when the customer service representatives said they would and we ended up having to deal with the store which was not helpful from the beginning.

We decided to hire a contractor or a handyman for a small jobs in the future from this frustrating, time-consuming experience. You can pay these people after their work while Lowe’s asks you to pay for everything up front.

I hope Lowe’s understands that customers have many options these days(I found there are very comparative online blinds companies that offer you customized blinds and free samples before you order). The product is similar to each other so it really comes down to good customer service.
I hope this review gives a chance for Lowe’s in Canada to realize how important good customer service is and to improve themselves.

Exterior and storm door replacement

We started with the installation of a single steel exterior door. We booked a contractor measurement visit with the Lowes Installation Manager, Mr. G. Rehal. Within two days, Jim of Alexandras Windows/Doors came out and made the requirement measurements to be forwarded to Lowes Installation. He suggested what kind of door to look for at Lowes and also mentioned the Larson Line of Tradewinds storm doors as being excellent quality, if we also wanted to change the old storm door.
We ended up buying an exterior door and a Tradewinds mid-view storm door. The Alexandras Team of Jim and Jim were fabulous - punctual, professional and personable while on the job.
We were so impressed with the Tradewinds storm door and Alexandras work that we went back to Lowes and bought a second storm door for the back door of the house and asked that the Alexandras Team install it We were also very pleased that the premium storm doors were bought on promotion at Lowes at $100.00 less, each.
By this time we got to know the very wily Installation Manager, Mr. Rehal, who worked in our favour and kept the orders open until the storm doors came on promotion. The door experts at Lowes - Kevin, Robert and even Kal, the Section Manager were always available during our visits to provide advice.
The UPS delivery man was so impressed by our new Tradewinds storm door that he asked where we bought it.
In the end we convinced some family friends who also decided to have Alexandras and Lowes install 2 more storm doors for their home.

Washer & Dryer

Bought washer & dryer during their sale. Product selection was good, sales was good, delivery & installation guys were super-nice and worked hard. Only problem I had with them is that they left some dirt marks on the walls during their delivery. I guess it's hard to avoid that moving washer & dryer through narrow stairway, but still...
