Stay Away - Consumers and Manufacturers

Stay away. Continued misdiagnosis, 4 service calls to date. One of the two service personnel that came out twice was capable but seemed like he was aware of the company he was working for and just shrugged with a defeated smile. Two weeks and still waiting for a functional appliance as I write this. The complete lack of empathy or any sense of customer service from George (who is the only point of contact for this sham) while trying to rectify this absurd scenario is completely absent. Then again, maybe this is not out of the norm at all for them reading other reviews. Not one statement or action to do anything to find a solution in the now. Only response received, We will send another tech out when we can. The passing the buck, or not my monkey attitude thrives here. Choose another repair company immediately. After the fourth service call because the dryer, under warranty, and only about 9 months old still wasnt working, they actually refused to come out again. Hmm, No more money from the manufacturer after a 4th call? Sure I didnt pay for a service fee, I bet the manufacturer did though and now the manufacturer gets to pay another fee to another company. To any manufacturer or service delegation department that are forwarding your business to this company, seriously reconsider your decision. Seriously.

Horrible service

Avoid this company at all costs! I would give 0 stars if I could. I will be generous and call them incompetent but I suspect there is more to it than that.

They sent someone to diagnose a problem with my Fulgor Milano oven. He did not have access to any service manuals or parts information. He did absolutely nothing to diagnose the problem except turn on the oven and observe that the cooling fan was not running (which I had already told them over the phone). He spent less than 5 minutes in my house. He then went out to his truck to "call his manager". When he came back he said "the boss has seen this before, you need a new fan". They charged me $149 for the service call. The next day I got an email with the quote. They want a $456 deposit before they even start the job. The total quote was $958 + HST. Apparently they need a "2 man team" to replace an oven fan. This is beyond ridiculous!

Now for the punch line. After receiving their quote, I had someone else diagnose the issue. Someone who actually pulled out a screwdriver, took off the back and spent 20 minutes inside poking around. The actual problem was a resistor, which is $82 for the OEM part (or less if you buy a generic part). It can easily be replaced by 1 person in under 20 minutes.

Had I accepted their quote, they would have charged me over $1,000 and I would have been left with an oven cooling fan that still did not work. I can only image what parts they would have thrown at the problem as a follow up. Luckily I never had to find out.

Horrible ex[erience

I contracted Appliance Genie to replace the collector tube on my gas BBQ/grill.
When they were at it, I told them, sine they had to remove the burners to do that,, they may as well replace the burners.
They came to do the work, and when they were done, they told me and I went to take a look. The photo shows the problem
They replaced the burners but put it the old rusted out collector tube.
They admitted someone forgot to order it and in all fairness to me, they would replace the part.
All I had to pay for was the part (Since I hadnet paid for it
a $16 part cost me $88.

Tried to get us to sign a waiver that if they damaged our home they would not be liable, BEWARE!!!

BUYER AND HOME OWNER BEWARE!!!!!!! Spoke to the service manager George. After expressing our concerns over their technician coming onsite unprepared to complete the repair of our brand new JennAir appliance, unprofessionalism thus far from the technicians, and the concerns of the care to our property given the level of service thus far he told us that he needed us to sign a liability waiver releasing them on any liability on damage they may cause to our kitchen and property. I don't even know where to start with this.I am blown away that JennAir would send their customers to this place. They can't seem to stand by their work or the safety of our home. Its crazy! Needless to say, we are on the phone with JennAir regarding this.

Additionally, George said he would be speaking to his boss, the owner. I said ok and asked what his name was and his response to me was "his name is the boss. I am releasing that information and he will not be calling you back."

BUYER AND HOME OWNER BEWARE!!!!!!!

Appliance Genie's make your money disappear

I strongly DO NOT recommend Appliance Genie Repair and Service and I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I hired Appliance Genie Repair and Service to fix the igniter on a gas oven. They required about $130 to come look to diagnose the issue and confirm it was an igniter issue. They followed up with a simple repair quote of $800. This seemed outrageously high so I asked for an itemized quote which was as follows:

- $245 for the igniter
- $400 for labour
- $145 for a second man
- Plus some other minor stuff

For a total of $800 :o

After a bit of research and DIY I was able to repair my oven with an igniter I sourced online for $100 and 45 minutes of my time.

Terrible service and misdiagnosed problem

Appliance Genie
Has no understanding on how to service subzero appliances. We had an issue with our subzero refrigerator. When the technician came, he opened the door of the appliance, listened to us describe what the problem was, closed the door, went to his vehicle and called the office. After spending few min talking to someone on the phone, he then came back with a diagnosis that it was our compressor that broke. The next day we got a quote from them (not a detailed quote at first, we had to request a proper detailed quote) We called another company that specializes in subzero appliances to get a second opinion. The technician came and after inspection said it was the sensors and not the compressor at all. He was able to fix it right on the spot. I have made multiple calls and sent multiple emails to Appliance Genie to dispute the fee that was charged for the diagnostic service call and no one has called or emailed me back.
This was a terrible service and expensive ($169.00) diagnostic service call that was completely misdiagnosed. I am glad we called that other company. If we would have trusted Appliance Genie and payed them $2500 for their service to change the compressor, we would still have a non working refrigerator.
Not sure how they service other appliances, but for SubZero appliances this is not the company. Also a company that doesnt stand behind their work and customer service is NOT a company that I would trust in my home.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Called Appliance Genie as our SubZero fridge was having issues.
Prompt reply and booked tech to come for service later that day. Was given 2hr time slot, 2-4pm. Off to a good start but that was the last positive part of the experience unfortunately.

Tech finally arrived at 6pm (after multiple follow ups), inspected fridge for 5min (took a couple of pictures and temperature reading). Went out to driveway and made a call, then came back in with a VISA machine to take $160 payment for the visit (he was at my home for less than 15min) and told me to expect an email with a quote in 24-48hrs. Next day received an email with a quote with very little details for $2500! Was also told they needed almost $1000 deposit to order parts which could be installed in 7-14 days. I called and requested a more detailed quote with a full breakdown of what was being repaired.
While waiting for that and due to the cost and timeline, I felt it was important to get a second quote. Contacted another company who specializes in SubZero appliances Tech came at agreed time (9am the next morning) inspected, diagnosed and FIXED the refrigerator in less an hour. Refrigerator is back working 100% (even better than before!) and total cost of repair was 1/3 of the cost quoted by Appliance Genie. On top of that, when we provided details of Appliance Genie quote, SubZero specialist confirmed that what Appliance Genie had recommended to replace was not only not necessary, but would NOT have fixed the issue!

We have since contacted Appliance Genie to provide our feedback and have asked for a refund of the $160 fee they charged us, but have not received a response from Management.

BUYER BEWARE
This company is Incompetent!. They will misdiagnose and stick you with the bill. They dont listen to legitimate issues with there service And will file with collections for payment even though issues left unresolved!

They marked my freshly panted walls and ceiling, and scratched my washing machine. Also, they took apart my dryer and put it back together with parts left over. Now my dryer is making hideous noises.
When I was said and done the technician told me that was needed was leveling. Now theyre sticking me with the bell and Ive gone to collections. What a way to do business! Buyer beware

fraudulent and incompetent

Our gas grill needed service because the igniter kept clicking until the battery went dead. Technician said it needed a new valve. Valve was replaced. Then, grill would not start. Technician that the burners needed to be replaced (over $1,000). We told him that we needed a second opinion. He put everything back together and left. When he put things back together, he did not put the burner into the valve correctly. When we started the grill, there was a huge fire that burned up the entire panel. We spoke to owner. We want them to fix the grill at their cost. They refused and offered a $300 payment. Menawhile, the manufacturer came and inspected the grill. They said that THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BURNERS!!! This company is incompetent. Stay away from them.

Dryer Repair

Responsive, knowledgeable, conscientious and has very fair pricing! Technician came exactly when he said he would and went out of his way to try to solve my problem with dryer. It is so nice to deal with someone who you don't feel is trying to gouge you in a moment of need. Happy to have found someone I can count on if I have any other problems with my appliances.
