Alarm Systems

I have been with Alarmforce for 4 years now. When I first had my system installed the basic equipment was not enough to cover my house so I had to PURCHASE more. Extra door contacts and motion sensors. I am now moving and was told that if I did not want to continue services with them (as there is a wired sustem in the new house) I would have to return ALL the equipment! Why did I pay for those sensors? They are not cheap by any means and my three years contract should have covered all the remaining costs except maybe the two-way voice box. This is a rip off and I would still be responsible for shipping all the equipment to them or they will come and get it for a fee...of course.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Better customer service and more flexibility when it comes to built in systems. Most new homes have wired systems and what good is it when they cannot even hook into them.

Home Security System

Consumers, please BEWARE!! I have never felt the need to write a negative review until dealing with this horrific company. Please do not make the same mistake as my family has by choosing this company to monitor your home security because their services are a joke. From day one, I have had nothing but issues with faulty alarms. While their monitoring system does respond to alarms, there are times that I am unable to answer the numerous false alarm calls that I receive due to my central motion detector going off. Mind you that I sometimes get serveral false alarm calls a day. Unfortunalety, this has resulted in the police having to visit my home on 3 occasions. I have had the decetor changed and moved but it still goes off for no reason. So not only do I get fined by the city for these unnecessary visits, I also have to pay a company for a servie that I can not use. The customer service is also a joke, who suggested that I have my neighbors come over to see if my home is getting robbed when my alarm goes off. They also said that their equipment is not faulty and that I may have spiders setting off my motion detector. I was also told that I am not allowed to speak with a supervisor. The lame excuses and poor custormer service has only infuriated me more. All I want is to get out of my contract but you have to pay the company more money. I refuse to give Alarm Force another penny then I have too. I have no idea how they have an A+ BBB rating, but I will be in contact with the BBB. Please do not make the same mistake I made...yes the monthly fees are cheap but I would much rather pay more money for a alarm system I can actually use and trust. There is a reason they are so cheap....BECAUSE THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE IS HORRIBLE

alarm force security system

i live in a condo.my video was installed without explaining that it had 180 coverage and not just the front door. it was taking pictures every time we were in the kitchen. i didnt know. wasnt told.asked to have it removed. alarm force said no. i will cancel my basic service , contact better business bureau and the local paper. do not go with them. i would have continued with regular service sans the video, but they wouldnt do it. stay away.

Alarm system

Professional installation of alarm system in our home with good advice from person installing. They are Always easy to work with when we call in. Equipment is big and bulky though.

Alarm System

This company is terrible to put it lightly. The equipment is big bulky plastic garbage that looks terrible in your home. The batteries constantly need replacing and there's no guarentee it even works as on more than one occasion we tripped it by mistake and it didn't even reach their monitoring center.
Customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with. They are rude, impatient and unhelpful.
They drilled holes in my new door frames and used an adhesive that is nearly impossible to remove without taking some paint with it. I know this because when you cancel they make YOU remove everything and ship it back to them. Oh and they keep charging you FULL service until they receive it and they ensure the process takes long enough that you will get charged at least once additional month.
An alarm company that robs people, how is that for IRONIC!

Oh and T.H, let me save you some time:

Instead of responding to people for everyone to see (obviously your only motive), why don't you do something about how bad your company is operating!? Obviously no real action is being taken because you're still company is still consistently infuriating people!

Customer service

I have been with alarm force close to a year, haven't had any issues. I call them
One a month to make sure all system is in working order. I had technicians come by twice once to check camera, and the other time to remove it. I Didn't get charged for it. I treat their reps with respect and don't expect them to do beyond what I have signed in to. And maybe Customer is always right rules don't apply to all countries, that being Canada Ey. Anyway being nice to people goes long try it sometimes, it might even get you're contract cancelled one day.

Billing and Simple Account Updates

AN ONGOING DISASTER! Alarm was initially in my brothers name who moved out 3 years ago. Spoke to a representative, and even had my brother call to confirm this product would be in my name, Submitted change forms and thought everything was ok - WRONG - My brother gets a call from a collections agency saying that we owe over $400 an apparant RANDOM number that can not be verified. Its been 30 mins, and I am STILL on the phone waiting for a manager to provide an explination...

Bad Customer Service Experience

We received a call because an alarm had been triggered. We missed the phone call and tried to call back to say the trigger was false. I told the agent we were responding to a false alarm and this was urgent because we did not want the police sent out. The agent would not assist until all of his required information was gathered. Then I was told the police were contacted but did not come out because we did not have a valid permit on file. I asked the agent would we have received notification: letter, phone call, email, etc. notifying that our permit was no longer valid. To which I was told 'No. It is up to the customer to ensure a permit is valid.' I tried to explain to the agent the importance of that statement. I had Alarm Force at my other residence and when I purchased a second home, we chose their service again. At no time, did the installer or customer service say we would need to get a new permit. Unfortunately, buying new alarm service is not a frequent act. This was fortunately a false alarm but this could have been a life or death situation. If they have been made aware of a permit issue then it would be courteous to let their customer know who is paying then faithfully to secure their home. The agent was very rude and argumentative towards me. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was placed on hold for an extreme amount of time then dropped into a random voicemail box which disconnected me. To their credit, when I called back I received a much nicer agent; however, the prior agent did not update my account and I did not feel like pursuing the conversation again.

Home security monitoring

Alarmforce was good to deal with in the beginning. The sales folks were easy to speak to and the installation tech was quick and efficient.

Our problems arose ~5 years later when alarms did not register with central monitoring and upon speaking to their call centre representatives - we just couldn't justify such service.

We chose not to renew with Alarmforce in our new home largely due to the signals that didn't reach central monitoring - sort of the whole point of such services.

p.s. I should add that you can buy the speaker battery at any specialized battery shop for far less than what they charge. It is basically an additional $80 for an installer to deliver it to you.

False Alarm

This company is number one for bad customer service. This is my first review on any company and I truly believe AlarmForce provided me with the worst customer service experience. I called in after receiving a false alarm bill. I called in wanting to find out why I was charged $130 for a false alarm since the alarm went off due to a system malfunction. One of the sensor was broken and they ended up sending a technician out to replace it. I was told “I’m sorry, but that’s our Policy and I’m not connecting you with my supervisor.” With this company I feel once you sign the contact they don't care how they speak to you.
