Tdi Design & Improvement

DO NOT AND DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. We had our hardwood installed by Tdi and just within few months we started hearing squeaks. There was no response from Fred and during personal visits he was never available. During installation, his employee Mike was always chatting on the phone and his installer Tony hired some students to do the installation and hardly showed up. All the calls were being ignored and now the whole floor is squeaky and is an absolute disaster.

From the first call to the last day making payment Fred was very professional, accommodating and pleasant. He is a soft spoken and kind man who genuinely cares about helping people make their homes beautiful. I got several quotes and TDI came in lower than the others but the quality of their flooring options is excellent. Fred was able to schedule us the week we wanted and his team of installers arrived on time, were polite and very efficient. They took good care of our home by putting down drop clothes to cover our other floors and cleaned up at the end of both days. They installed new hardwood floors and baseboards in our second level and both look incredible. We are absolutely pleased with our decision to use TDI and will definitely be recommending them!

It was really a smooth and professional process with no headaches.Fred he is the most friendly, helpful, patient, honest and makes himself available to answer any questions/concerns on his personal line outside of business hours. He will take the time to answer all your questions, make suggestions, clarify any doubts or concerns you may have and he will do whatever is necessary to resolve them in the quickest time possible. After the job is completed he will return and take care of any touch ups. He's positive, friendly, professional and a pleasure to work with.
I'm so glad I chose Tdi flooring to do my flooring. Their prices were comparable and less expensive than many other places I called. I was able to get a better price on the same product I'd have spent quite a bit more on at other flooring stores/companies. I live in mid-town Toronto where the flooring stores can be quite expensive. Let me tell you it was worth the drive to Richmond Hill to work with this company. From beginning to end, I can't think of one complaint. I would recommend them to my family/friends in a heartbeat.

We hired this company twice. The staining of the stairs the first time was done well and on time. The painting of the risers and trim was done at a later time and was an ok job.
There was some miscommunication on the total cost of the job, which ended up costing me a couple of hundred more than the price we thought we agreed to, but Fred worked with us to rectify the situation,

The 2nd time was when we moved to a new house and hired them again to do a few projects in the house. The experience with the stair staining the 2nd time was horrible. They did not do a good job and despite promises to come back and fix it, they never showed up. Calls were ignored and now we have to pay a lot more money to fix the issues that they screwed up. They did not even finish the job as we agreed and claimed we did not mention staining the handrail and the risers.

I purchased mercier hardwood. The wood itself is beautiful but my experience with the owner was not so great.

When my contractor started installing the wood, he realized he had over-calculated how much hardwood I needed, so I had 13 extra unopened boxes (approx $1500 worth of wood). He offered to sell the extra boxes for me but I thought I would contact TDI instead.

Fred, the owner of the store, very politely agreed to take it back but said I would have to deliver it to him and he would not be able to process my refund until he sold the wood. He assured me that it would sell very quickly as it was a popular choice with customers.

Then he avoided my calls and never returned any of my messages. When I finally did get hold of him, he tried to convince me that he doesn't owe me anything because the guy he sold my wood to, never paid him. I am just about to contact a lawyer. I hope nobody else has to go through as much trouble as I did.

I just bought another home and need 3000 sq feet of hardwood. I love mercier wood, but I will definately not be going back to TDI.

Tdi did some work on the stairs in my home as well as the floor laminate. The flooring was great, but there were a few issues that came up with the stairs. It was a hard job because they practically had to put in brand new oak steps and then stain them to match the color of the floor. In the end it didn’t look perfect so I had to talk with them about fixing it. The gentleman Fred was really good because you could tell he was very serious about leaving his customers happy. He listens to you and does his best to try to make it right if you bring up any concerns. Of course, it isn’t Fred himself who does the work because he sends other contractors. In any case, I was fairly happy with the work and the price is not too high. I would recommend TDI because even if there is a problem you can count on them to be willing to work with you and fix it every time.

I had TDI install hardwood throughout the second floor of my house as well as re-do my stairs. I was very pleased with the end result and the work was done professionally, on time and on budget. The crew was experienced, hard working and courteous and Fred's recommendation on the products used and his design tips turned out to be the right ones for our needs. I would definitely recommend TDI as well as use them again in the future.
