My whole neighborhood has had to replace their roofs, mostly due to high quality installed by the builder. Yes that's sarcasm. They basically lasted 11 years.

I knew my turn was coming and I watched my whole street replace theirs with asphalt shingles. Mostly done extremely cheaply without even bothering to do waterproofing under. I figured this was a big ticket item, so research was required. In the last few years I have put in an interlocking double driveway, built a huge deck and now this.

I have found when dealing with construction companies it's hit and miss. You never know how you are going to get messed around and how good or bad the quality is going to be. Usually service is not great.

I found out that asphalt roofs for a house my size was about $10 000 including tax. The lifespan, no matter what they tell, is only between 8 and 13 years. No such thing as 25 years. I have friends who validated this having put in roofs 10 years ago. One guy I work with told me he spent $12000 on asphalt and 8 years later was already having to repair. I was convinced that a steel roof was the way to go for a number of reasons.

1. Animals cannot get in. I live on a forest and squirrels and raccoons are always an issue.
2. Insulation is better because it's actually put on top of the existing asphalt roof.
3. It's actually quieter as stated above. Put on top of the existing roof.
4. Venting is cleaner too, because they do a bridge vent, not those ugly square things.
5. Looks are to die for :-) and it doesn't degrade.
6. Lifespan is 50 - 60 years.
7. No more of that gritty horrible stuff running off.

So I started researching companies and New Steel Roofers Inc (newsteelroofers.com) was rated number 1. I kept reading how clean they were, how friendly, how professional, on time how they had repeat business etc etc.

So I hired them. Not cheap, but cheap not good and good not cheap. Actually if you intend to stay in your house, steel is cheaper in the long run. Every review on steel roofs will say the same thing, it's an expensive outlay

Anyway they have just finished the job. Took about a week and a half, mainly because of rain delays. I did have a leak issue, not their fault, but I called and they responded immediately and sorted it out. Calmly and without fuss.

Their reputation lived up to expectations. They said they would start end of Oct, I hired them in Sep. They called half way through Oct, delivered the stuff, and started that week. That in itself made me relax.

Before they were even finished, I had neighbors from all over come and admire my gorgeous new roof. It's more than the roof as well. Most people fail to mention this. The whole front facade is reworked in steel so the water cannot come in sideways. But the look in incredible.

It's also completely waterproofed.

I felt the whole time calm and relaxed dealing with this company, and I didn't feel like that on other projects. I felt they were going to come, do the job, I would be happy, and they would leave. That's exactly how is worked out. When you see the amount of work and the quality of the materials that go in, you'll understand the price.

The guys are friendly, easy to deal with, there was no mess at any time.

My roof is spectacular, I know it's added value to my home, and to drive up and see the house which looked unfinished before - I know I made the right choice.

Now I can enjoy the winter and not have to ever concern myself again with having to replace a roof. Thanks guys, it's been a pleasure.

We decided to buy a steel roof as we plan on staying in our home for several more years. We selected a roof that looks like asphalt but is steel. The installers did a great job and the roof looks amazing.

We were in need of a new roof due to age, ice damping issues and prior improper installation. We did lots of research on asphalt vs steel and once we decided steel we did even more research on installers. We decided on New Steel Roofers Inc. for several reasons. They are registered with the BBB and they were honest about their warranty. Their customer service both in the office and on the road was great and very helpful. All our questions were answered and they even came out to our house twice so we could finally decide on our color choice and style of steel roof. Install was very quick. The guys were done in a day and a half. The cleanup was exceptional. Our roof looks beautiful. Neighbors on our steel have booked an appointment. There was just a little hiccup with communication through the office to the bank regarding financing but it was resolved very quickly. We're very pleased and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new roof.

We are thrilled with out new roof. The stone coated tiles look fantastic. It is great how they can go over your existing roof with no mess. I like the idea of using screws, hardly any nails. it looks beautiful. The lifetime warranty is fantastic, as well as, the transferable warranty. We were very pleased using New Steel Roofers and would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

A job well done-from roofing material delivered to installation and clean up. Team work, along with a good sense of humor and excellent communication from the sales staff,office employees and the crew installing the metal roof and gutter resulted in a job ell done!

Wow! These guys are on top of their game; it took only 14 days from my initial call, to the quote, to the final completion. Everyone played their roles perfectly: Holly in the office booked my quote for the very next day, was quick to reply to my other inquiries along the way, and Jill was so friendly to deal with on the delivery/install bookings; Max was very comfortable to talk to and knowledgeable, taking his time to thoroughly address all of our questions and options when he provided the quote; Mike and his team of guys were very polite and efficient in getting the job done when it was time to install.

As a responsible shopper, I had called a couple other places for quotes as well, but ‘Alternative Company A’ was slow – they had my estimate booked two weeks out … and ‘Alternative Company B’ was unresponsive – they failed to return my initial call (which was taken by an answering service) until a week and a half later. By that time, my New Steel Roofing materials had already been delivered to my driveway! It wasn’t just New Steel Roofing’s quick action that secured our sale though (although it helped!); it was also the fact that they were able to offer a superior product that the other two companies didn’t provide – it was the STONE COATED metal roof panels that we were impressed with.

We had them install a Metstar F-Series Stone Coated ‘Shake’ roof over the asphalt shingles on our Hamilton bungalow. The price was easily in line with what I would’ve expected to pay for metal roofing, and the fact that the option to go ‘stone coated’ was not prohibitively higher at all than the slightly cheaper high-gloss painted alternative, made the selection easy. The stone coated treatment looks nicer, but even more importantly: it prevents sudden and treacherous ice/snow slide off from your roof, possibly onto unsuspecting people or pets, while potentially tearing your eaves down along with it! The reasonable price, combined with their willingness to match a competitor’s promotion, meant that we could even reach that extra little bit to have our shed done as well.

To summarize: we were very impressed with New Steel Roofers speed and level of service, and we were satisfied that their pricing is quite reasonable, at the lower end of average for steel roofing. I would (and will!) certainly recommend New Steel Roofers to anyone making the wise decision to go with metal roofing. I would be happy for this company to provide my address and phone number as a reference to anyone considering them.

We had the Gerrard stone-coated roof installed in 2012 on our bungalow and have been very pleased with the product. The stone coat looks similar to shingles and doesn't have that shiny look of uncoated steel. The best thing about the stone coating is there is no danger of snow sliding off the roof and damaging anything or hitting anyone below. Snow guards are completely unnecessary. The roof looks great.

I would like to express to you our satisfaction with the new steel roof you put on our house about three years ago. The product still looks great and is much better than shingles for durability and insulation.

We contracted with NSR for soffit, fascia and eaves replacement followed by statuary bronze stone blend slate roofing from EDCO. Other than the wrong colour product delivered at the beginning, which caused about a months delay waiting for the correct product to arrive, we could not have been more pleased. The work crew was professional, polite and very obliging for numerous requests that we made. We were so impressed by how meticulous they were - obviously they all took great pride in their workmanship. The finished roof has received numerous compliments and has dramatically improved the appearance or our home.
