Bathroom Repair and Reno

Our recent bathroom renovation was necessitated by a mysterious leak that emerged in two different places. John Miles very kindly rearranged his schedule to accommodate us so that we would not have to live without our main bathroom for too long. Throughout the planning stage, he was always prompt in getting back to us and quick to offer tips that steered us away from bad decisions. He has an unflappable demeanour that inspires confidence. As for Gabriel, who did all the work, we just couldn't be happier with how he handled the project and we are just amazed at his range of skills, professionalism and all-around niceness. Most importantly, he was extremely patient about detecting the source of the leak—it wasn't easy to find, and for a while the (mistaken) theory was that it was a drain problem, when it was actually a very slow leak from a supply pipe. I shudder to think what would have happened if a less patient person had leapt to the wrong conclusion and tiled over the floor again while the leak remained active.
Gabriel stripped the old bathroom out, fixed the plumbing, did a magnificent job on the tiling, repaired the ceiling, installed the fixtures and the new window—all to a very high standard, with admirable focus and efficiency. I work at home, right next door to the bathroom, and was never disturbed by unnecessary noise.
Unlike other contractors we have worked with, these guys don't stop until they finish the job—and the job they do is nothing short of extraordinary. What could have been a very stressful renovation turned out to be a breeze—we are very relieved to have had Avonlea do the job.

Complete bathroom reno

Avonlea did a complete bathroom renovation in our 60 yr old house. The job was completed in 8 days and everything went very well. The project started on time and the price was reasonable. The workers performing the job were knowledgable, hard working and helpful. I liked the fact that you can order some fixtures through the store but are not required to do so and you are able to shop around to get anything you like at the best price. We ended up buying a few things from the store since they have nice stuff, the prices were competitive and we didn't have to worry about delivery. I would definitely hire Avonlea again for our next renovation and definitely recommend them to anybody interested in a bathroom or kitchen reno.

Bathroom Reno

John and his crew did our bathroom reno a few yeares back. I'm just joining the site but thought I'd write a review up because of all the contractor we've had over the years Anonlea was the best to work with. Even when we discovered things in our 100 yr. old house that weren't expected John didn't nickel and dime us he just did what was required. When choices had to be made John would give us the facts and always wanted to do things "the right way". If it meant more work for his crew he still didn't charge us more! That's rare! The crew was very clean and the work was done on time. If you are looking for a contractor you can trust and that does amazing work ... these are your guys.

bathroom reno

This was the most trouble free reno I have ever done. After interviewing several contractors, John appeared to be the most interested in my small but old bathroom and had good suggestions e.g. heated towel rail instead of ugly old radiator. Gabriel and his Dad did a wonderful job, clean up was perfect and craftsmanship excellent. I would highly recommend this company.

From old to a modern bathroom within 2.5 weeks

John at Avonlea lived up to his words and his work crew prefected the job. After getting serveral quotes from different companies, Avonlea was the one that stood out and wanted to turn old into modern. I explained what I wanted done; John came back with a couple of blueprints to what he thought would be best. An old tight bathroom was transformed into a modern bathroom that offered more space. From Avonleas customer service to installation, I was very satisfied with everything. A++

Partial bathroom reno

We sought several quotes from renovation contractors for the work we wanted done to our 1960s bathroom: replace tub and tile surround, install vent fan, etc. Some contractors refused to do anything short of a complete demolition/rebuild of the entire room, while others provided unrealistic quotes that made us wonder if they understood the wrinkles involved. John of Avonlea K&B gave us a quote which seemed most in agreement with what we wanted done, and at a competitive price. Gabriel began the job on the appointed date (December 2012) and was finished in a week. He is a solid, careful worker. Disposal and clean up was excellent. A couple of minor issues arose which Avonlea addressed expeditiously and to our satisfaction. Altogether a very good experience.

Bathroom Renovation

Bathroom Reno

Avonlea recently completed a full bathroom renovation for me. I live in a 50 year old home whose bathroom, prior to renovation, had tiles that were inches thick and held on by solid cement backing. It was a huge job getting these tiles off the wall and then getting rid of the mess afterwards.
John and his team are experienced working on older homes in Toronto so they created a plan to renovate my bathroom in a fixed number of days. I am happy to report that my bathroom was completed, on time, on-budget and with a level of quality & craftsmanship that I would say is very hard to find in today’s home renovation market place. Having modernized my bathroom has given me the urge to update my kitchen with an open concept look. If I decide to move forward with that renovation, it is certain that Avonlea will be the first company I look to for creating a new kitchen plan.

Kitchen Reno

I knew John and his crew from Avonlea were the contractors for our job the minute I met them. All the workers from Avonlea were knowledgable, hard working and very helpful. As it was our family's first reno in our first home, we needed a contractor that would help us from start to finish, with more than just labour. And John, Dominic and Jay did so much more. When we did find a problem, the issue was quickly resolved. The price of the job was very fair and included everything from helping perfect the design, tiles, ceiling, removing a wall, creating a pass through, installing appliances. electrical... Avonlea was a one stop shop for professional, expert work.

Bathroom reno

Avonlea renovated our bathroom in 2009 (i only just became a member of homestars now) and after almost two years we are still very happy with result. John was very good in giving us time to make decions what we wanted, was flexible in having us buy appliances vs them providing them and made us feel like we were treated fairly.

Only downside was that is took a bit longer than projected, which was too bad as it was our only bathroom but in the end it was totally worth it. The installer did a great job and was very polite, clean and professional.

Cottage Kitchen Reno

I was very impressed with the effor the company put forth in designing my new kitchen. The focus of the job was to make the kitchen look better but they far surpassed that requirement when they assisted with layout and adding other features to make the kitchen more functional.
