I met Terry Owen through my contractor of Hickory Dickory Decks - Markham. They specialize in wood restoration and staining decks, is a member of HolmesonHomes.com. Their price may be more expensive than other companies but they make sure the job is done right the first time. Terry came to our house to look at our new deck and gave us a quote on site based on the size and complexity of the deck. The price he quoted is for staining our deck two times. The first time was done in 2010 when the deck was built and the second time in 2011 after the harsh winter. He explained to us that his crew will first sand all the wood to make sure the wood properly absorbed the stain. When they started the job, they were careful not to damage our deck furniture and cover off the new composite deck. The stain colour (Cabot - Jarrah Brown) we chose matches perfectly with our deck colour and is distinctive from other decks we saw. In the end it was an excellent service and job. I knew about this company through Mimo of Forever Stone Design Inc. They informed me of when they will come and arrived on time. Marc came previously when Mimo renovated the front yard and landscape and inspected the old driveway. He came back when the job was scheduled to start and made sure his staff knew what they needed to do. He asked me to open my new garage doors to prevent any scratching and damages. I like the fact that they took care of these small but important details. They worked efficiently and finished the whole job in three hours and set up the banner so that cars won't drive onto the new driveway. Marc gave me a note for "Dos and Don'ts" after the renovation and went through that with me. The new driveway was beautifully and professionally done. Our neighbours were very impressed with their workmanship. I will not hesitate to recommend them to our friends.

I heard about Hickory Dickory Decks from the Brock Windows contractor who highly recommended this company to us. Based on that, last year I called Adam for a quote who listened to what we needed and gave us two different designs. We picked one and asked for a few changes. The cost is within our budget. Although in the beginning there was a misunderstanding in the specs, Adam was willing to work with us to resolve the issue. Matt and Devin were professional and courteous. They arrived and started early in the days. My neighbors complimented that they were very nice people. The final work was nothing less than perfect and was exactly what we wanted. This shows that they not only treat their projects as work but put their hearts into them as well. We were very please with the workmanship. As a result, this year when we built the walkway and new steps to the backyard and deck, we asked Adam to build a new gate and fence and coverings for the two pillars in the porch for us. We coordinated with them and the other contractors. The result was another beautiful work. We are very glad to let his prospective clients to see our deck as they deserve having more business coming their way. Thank you Adam and Matt.

We searched for a contractor for our front yard renovation project by reading the reviews in Home Stars and were attracted by the award-winning Forever Stone Design Inc. We met another contractor previously who asked us what do we want to do and he will do it for us. Given we are laymen to renovation work, it is difficult to explain our ideas in technical terms. We are looking for a contractor that we can explain what we want in general terms and he/she can give us advices and alternatives to consider. Mimo is the one who did that for us. In the first meeting, we showed him some of the pictures of designs that we like. He was able to give us a general design of how he would go about doing it. He also suggested us to move the planting area a little bit further out so that the shrubs and flowers can get more sunlight and the original planting area was paved by interlocking bricks that were connected to the walkway. This turns out to be a brilliant idea. He is very good in picking materials and matching colour of the stones. In the meeting I asked for him to start in April but he had jobs booked up to May. When his client delayed the start of the project, Mimo immediately called me and gave me an option to begin the work in April. I am glad I did as the rainy days in May mean that we would not be able to start our work as scheduled. All along the project, he kept us informed of the progress and next steps. He anwered all of our questions to ease our minds. He took care of the little things like putting grass seeds on the soil to replant the grass. His staff were courteous and professional. In the end the job was completed in a week and half and my house looks like brand new. My neighbour said my house is the nicest on my street. We will have no hesitation to recommend Mimo to any of our friends. Thank you Mimo!

I came cross Markham Garage Doors Ltd. in the Markham Home Show. Kevin Chappel was very approachable and informative. They had a promotion going which include HST in their prices. I found the estimate price quite reasonable. After checking the various good reviews in Home Star, I asked Kevin to give me a quote. When he was at my house, he offered to install my the garage door keypad free of charge. He also suggested to cap the garage door frame by aluminium. The contractor (not from the same company) scheduled to install the cap right before the installation of the new doors to avoid scratching the doors and they put the alumimium into the bricks so that no cocking is needed. All these show they have their hearts in the work and I appreciate the value-added advices they gave me. They worked efficiently and have great workmanship. My house looks completely different after the installment and we got compliments from our neighbours. Excellent work and way to go Kevin! Thanks.
