This company was retained to deal with basement water problems, namely water issues in an cement cold storage room located under the front steps. Efforts to stop the problem with a liner on the outside wall did not work effectively. It installed an inside liner by digging a trench in the cement floor, laying weeping tiles, cementing over the trench as installing a plastic liner throughout the room whereby any moisture coming through the walls would be trapped behind the liner and drain into the tiles which in turn drained into the sump pump well. Not as messy as it sounds. This company appeared knowledgeable, provided an on-site estimate, a relatively early work date, and did the work as promised and in a day, with minimal disruption and mess, though I can see where larger or more open projects might be messy. I was impressed with their work and professionalism and with the personable workers who did the job. The result has been the end of our water problems. It was a very pleasant contractor experience after the many unsatisfactory ones that we had had.

Basement cold storage room was leaking for a long time. It had been foolishly insulated with a vapour barrier and dry-walled by the builder years go, allowing dampness and moisture and rot to build up.. The room need to be cleaned up by having everything removed down to the bare cement which was sprayed and prepared for the installation of a inside liner by another contractor. I was impressed by this company. Booking was easy, they arrived promptly and removed everything efficiently and with minimal mess. Overall, very professional.

Splashworkskb bills itself as “Toronto’s premier kitchen and bath renovation specialists” which now really makes me worry about all the rest. The experience with this company was very frustrating and disappointing on all levels and the only thing that they did consistently well was collect their scheduled payments. The disappointment was only deepened because of our heightened expectations of a ‘premier’ company and the money we had to spend. The initial meeting quote of a “3 week project” became 4-5 weeks in the written contract but in reality stretched into an unnecessary and painful 11 weeks for a bath reno in an relatively new home with a design that simply mimicked the existing layout. With their promise to thoroughly cover and protect the contents of our home (after our own efforts), at the outset of the project we vacated the home for 17 days, affording unimpeded access to the home 24/7 during that time. When we returned, the home was a disaster zone of carelessly protected and some unprotected contents with dust/dirt throughout and with a level of work inexplicably far behind schedule. What followed were days with workers coming and going at random, often without notice and only for short periods of time, with rarely an explanation for what was happening and without any apparent awareness of how disruptive to occupants such a prolonged pattern like that can be. As the project dragged on, there were days when no one showed up, or others when maybe an hour or two of work was done at random times. Typical was the installation near the end of 4 minor bathroom fixtures – two towel door hooks and two wire dishes in the shower – that took an amazing three attendances over three separate days to complete. It seemed like this company was working on a dozen projects at the same time with the same workers running back and forth to all sites. Most disappointing was the consistently poor quality of workmanship (and oversight) everywhere, from failure to follow the plans (corrected with one or more attempts and only after complaints and often not promptly) to just shoddy labour – insulation missing from walls, toilet in wrong location, wrongly installed bathtub, wrong backsplash tile, tiling and electrical work that had to be redone, shower grouting redone, painting to be redone several times and in the end still unsatisfactory, shower stall wall and drain cover to be remedied, plumbing to be readjusted, cabinetry redone. One of the very few things done properly the first time – floor tiling – was left chemically stained somehow and took 3 attempts to clean and yet another attendance to clean the dirty grouting. They had to be told not to use a stone cutting saw outside and not in our bedroom! Even our new stone laneway was stained with oil from their work vehicle. And all remedial work had first to be instigated by complaints or nothing would have ever been remedied. Adding to the pain, frustration and eventually anger was never knowing what was going to done, and when, and more importantly, when was this project ever going to end, aggravated by the fact that it kept getting harder and harder to contact anyone for updates or information. I would never use this company again and would never recommend this company to anyone – the bad far outweighed any good.

In this age of horror stories about disreputable movers,Arby's was a pleasure to use. Setting up a moving date was easy. Estimate was reasonable. They showed up on time with a full crew (and a back-up truck, if needed). The move was quick, efficient, professional and without any hassles or problems. As a group. they were helpful, courteous, and personable. Top marks.
