Maydone appliances was assigned a support request from Kitchen Aid for my fridge. The repair man (Vitalii) was on-time, courteous and knowledgeable - he identified that the buildup of frost/ice at the back of my fridge was due to the fan not working causing the temperature to heat up and compressor to overwork. There was also an issue with the ice maker which he was able to diagnose. He ordered the parts and was back in a week to install it. The repair was done efficiently and the work, luckily, was covered under warranty. It was an excellent experience.

Although my porch stairs were only 5 years old, some of the wood had started rotting. It was difficult to find someone who would be willing to do the job of repairing the stairs without completely ripping out the entire thing; so, I was really happy to find Blue Ladder Home Improvement. All the reviews talk about how great Domenic is and this is true - he and I had many discussions about what materials to use, measurements and design and I was very appreciative of the time he spent discussing the job. He was able to come the next day which was really great and he and his team member addressed the issue in a day. Some of the wood work required some additional puttying but other than that it was done professionally and quickly. I will consider calling Blue Ladder Home Improvements again for future projects.

Diamond Duct Cleaning did a great job cleaning out all air ducts and furnace in my home which is over 100 years old. Dia was great to work with and flexible with scheduling. He mounted his phone on the main duct while doing the cleaning and showed me what was being cleaned out - the amount of dust and renovation debris being removed was astonishing. All holes placed in ducts were properly patched with plastic stoppers and the job was thoroughly done with the furnace being cleaned out. I will recommend this company to others.

Pro Reno installed a 30ft fence and gate per my specifications. The high quality work was done professionally and quickly. Alex was very helpful in providing suggestions and it gave me confidence in the work when he decided to further strengthen a corner section of the fence where it was difficult to install a pole. It's clear that Alex has years of experience working on projects like these. The only regret was that I didn't exactly get the style of fence that I wanted because we found out that it would be difficult to install without the clearance on the neighbor's side. But all-in-all, the simple fence was built well.

With the sea of roofing companies available, it was difficult to find one that I felt that I could trust to do the job well at a reasonable cost. After talking to Key at CA Roofing, I felt that this was the right company. Key was excellent at providing information about materials and the work that would be done. Key answered every question quickly and provided great advice. CA Roofing was very understanding and flexible after I had to re-schedule several times. The guys on-site did a great job on the roof - although there was a minor incident with old roofing material falling and marking a new railing that had just been installed the day before. However, the company quickly remedied this and took full responsibility. The guys fully cleaned up all materials on the property and I felt very satisfied that the job had been done well. I also asked that pictures be taken before, during and after the work and they provided the pictures as requested. I would use CA Roofing for future jobs.

After carefully researching and getting quotes from various companies, I decided to go with Centurion Railings to remove and replace an exterior railing that runs along the side of my property. I chose Centurion because, after talking to Arkadiusz, I felt that I could trust that the job was going to be done well. Arkadiusz was frank and gave some great recommendations and pointed out things that other companies didn't mention. He also pointed out what didn't need to be done which further brought down the cost of the project even though it was already very cost competitive. The work was done on-time and and the quality of the workmanship was excellent. I increased the scope of the project to include replacing a couple of large concrete steps and Arkadiusz was able to handle this without issue. He did the research to find the matching steps and hand chiseled the concrete to match. Overall, Centurion Railings did a fantastic job and I will work with them again for future projects.

CAS has the best website for finding appliance products and the investment in online retail gives me confidence that the company is professional and will be around for a long time.

I had an issue with my eaves trough which was clogged and causing a waterfall to go over the side of my house during flash storms. I contacted Maple Windows & Eaves cleaning over the web and asked for a quick response. Yitzie got back to me very quickly. They whole process is very smooth - you get notified the night before they come and they take care of everything. The guys were very friendly, helpful and listened to the issue. They were respectful of the neighbors property, were pretty quick and did a great job. I will definitely work with Maple again.

We purchased a home and knew that we wanted to completely renovate it, add a two-story addition and finish the basement. Not knowing where to start, we found David R. Smith design through a recommendation from our general contractor. Having read through all the reviews on Homestars for David R. Smith design, we can genuinely say that the positive reviews are all true. David is one of those rare people in the industry that you will go back to time and time again because of his experience, high quality of work and he’s just a really nice guy that you can freely talk to. We hired David to draft our house plans and to take care of all aspects of apply for and obtaining building permits. Starting from a few ideas from Pinterest, David created various designs taking into account all the things on our wish list. Having vast experience with the process of home design, David is able relate to the difficult decisions that need to be made balancing budget vs features. He is a great sounding board for ideas and recommendations and is extremely patient with making changes to designs. During the later stages of the design process, David worked extensively with our general contractor to finalize our house plans. While reviewing the designs, it was clear that David is extremely knowledgeable with the technical aspects of structural design, building codes and experience with resolving issues. During the permit application process, David expertly navigated the process to expedite obtaining the building permits. He constantly followed up with the City reviewers and made sure to keep our application top of mind for them. We really could not have found a better person and company to help us through the process and we greatly appreciate the work that was done.

I contacted Accu-Star based on a recommendation from another company that did some asbestos testing for me. Nev, the owner, came to provide a quote and was a pleasure to work with - he's knowledgeable, experienced and genuine wants to ensure that the asbestos is handled properly. He took his time to explain he abatement methods and procedures. I was doing a major renovation of my home and required asbestos to be addressed in various areas including bedroom ceilings, floor tiles, several main to 2nd floor duct runs and transited siding all around the exterior of the house. Accu-star addressed all areas without issue and gracefully handled a query from the City regarding the work - after which the City notified me that they were fully satisfied that work was being done to standard. I also had Accu-Star do demolition on the house taking down everything (plaster walls, ceilings, electrical, plumbing, old chimneys) in preparation for a renovation and they handled this with ease. They were careful to store items that I wanted to keep such as original doors and air vents. The team came in on a particularly cold weekend (-10C) just to ensure that certain work was done on-time. I could not have asked for more. I would not hesitate to work with Nev and the Accu-Star team in the future.

Our home electrical supply was 60 amps and needed to be upgraded as soon as possible. After looking at various reviews, we decided to go with De Koning. Not knowing the whole process, Karel helped us tremendously by explaining the different options we had and next steps. He came out to the house several times to review things and spent time to ensure we were satisfied with the work done. We would definitely consider De Koning for future work.

Our existing eaves-troughs needed to be replaced. We didn't have very much time and needed a reliable company to install eaves-troughs that we wouldn't have to worry about for years to come. We decided to go with Avenue Road roofing because of their long standing reputation. We were not disappointed. We decided to not only replace all the eaves-trough but also add gutter guard - there was a great selection of colours. Don from Avenue Road was very patient and provided many quotes and great suggestions during the consultation. Erv and partner did excellent work - they are craftsman. Avenue road has a great policy to have a manager inspect the work afterwards and they have a great warranty on the work. We look forward to working with them again.

Based on HomeStars' reviews, we called Otto's Masonary to do some repair work on the exterior of our home. Otto came to determine the work that was needed, he showed his expertise by providing great recommendations and pointing out issues that we were already familiar with. After a few weeks, personnel from Otto's parged the lower foot of a large exterior wall by applying a rough coat and then a smooth coat of cement - this work was excellent. They also ground out and tuck pointed the walls on the front and rear of the house. The cement used for the rear of the house was a light orange colour and didn't match the existing brick at all. Upon asking for payment, we informed them of this issue and they immediately responded and had the same people come and paint the cement to match the brick. Overall, we were happy with the work done.

We had an antique dining table that was sitting disassembled in a basement for over 20 years. The dining table had been covered with linoleum while it was in use and there was extensive damage to the finish. We thought for a minute that we would try to restore the table ourselves but then decided to go with Wood Specialties. We made the right choice. Wood Specialties took great care in restoring the table to it's original splendor. Their work is exceptional - they not only refinished the table but also did some repairs and refinished the accessories (castors, leaf locking mechanism). We feel that our table rivals many similar table that could be purchase from a store given it's beauty and very personal meaning.
