A piece of flashing had been loose and became almost fully detached from our roof this past week. It wasn't a big job but it needed to be fixed. Erjon came out quickly after we contacted him and offered to reattach it for free since it was such a small job. It was a very nice thing for him to do. In fact that's the first time we've ever had such a thing happen to us as homeowners. We know who we will be contacting the next time we have an issue with our roof. Thanks again, Erjon!

We contacted this company after dealing with basement drain overflow for a week. Val came out and used his camera to scope the drain and managed to clear a clog within a short time. Further work will be needed to replace old clay pipes, but for now everything in our home drains properly again. Val even showed me how to properly clean our backwater valve to ensure it works as it's supposed to in case of emergency. Val did very good work and we will be sure to have him back in the future.

My wife and I saw signs of Walker Contracting around our neighborhood and decided to look them up on Homestars after we had a leak damage the ceiling of our bathroom. Greg came out within 5 days in the winter time and made a temporary repair that stopped any further leak damage. It was a couple of months before he came back out and moved the stack after we agreed that it would be best to move the ventilation stack away from the dormer on the rear of our house. It ended up being a very good decision as water doesn't sit there at all anymore and months later there are no further leak issues. The actual work we contracted them for was done shortly after the stack was moved. It took 3 full days to get both roofs shingled and the addition roof sloped at a proper grade and re-tarred and shingled. It was a lot of work but they always arrived early and did very high quality work that looks great. They returned a couple of weeks later after the eaves-troughs were ready and installed them. They look beautiful and the downspouts are exactly where we wanted them. Our otherwise ugly old green garage has the best roof in the neighborhood! The work was pricey but everything is tight to the roof and looks great--no shoddy work here--and the addition no longer has water pooling on it. Water no longer gets into my garage from above either. Overall we are very happy with the final result and would recommend Peter & Greg Walker Contracting.

My wife and I found Albvision on Home Stars and we are very happy with our new windows. Tony came up with great ideas for the types of windows that would best improve air flow in our home. He and his team removed our old windows and installed three new ones. We are very happy with the result. They look great and air flow is excellent. Tony even returned to replace a window that the manufacturer mentioned to him as having a small flaw. We hadn't even noticed, but Tony called and came out the same day and swapped out the pane for another one. Albvision went far beyond our expectations. Tony has pride in his work. We fully recommend him and Albvision.

My wife and I had had a previous, very bad experience with third-rate fabricators and installers, so we were apprehensive about going through the whole counter-top process again. This time, I checked HomeStars first and found the company with the best rating and with a large number of reviews. What a night-and-day difference this experience was. We began with Violetta in Vaughan at their sales location. She was extremely well organized, with hundreds of digital photos on her computer to show us of complete projects with various counter surfaces--natural stone and quartz. She steered us in the right direction based on the pictures we provided her of our own kitchen layout, cabinetry, and tile floors. She sent us to a handful of stone warehouses after we determined we were going with a natural stone. We picked the quartzite counter-top she had suggested, the one we also preferred above all others, and she ordered the slab. The sink she suggested was also very nice. Next, Jerry made an appointment with us and came to our home and took measurements of our walls and cabinets (I had already removed the old counter-tops). Our home is old so our walls and cabinets are not at all perfect right angles or even straight. Jerry measured our walls and cabinets with a CNC machine (laser pen input) which he then saved to the connected USB and exported onto his laptop. He produced a professional document in about 40 minutes on which physical templates would be based. Next, once the templates arrived, we met with Oleg at Marble Treasure's fabrication shop. He laid out the templates on the slab we had picked in the arrangement we chose. Oleg said we would have our counter-tops in 10 - 14 days. Oleg and his team arrived 10 days later with all of the pieces precisely cut and book-matched. Surprisingly, they had managed to keep our L-shape counter-top as one piece (no joint!). We were not expecting that at all and are very happy that they went that extra mile for us. Even with our irregular walls, the pieces all fit precisely. Oleg and his two team members worked very quickly, building up our cabinets and installing each counter-top and waterfall (4 pieces total). Installation began at 9:15 am and ended at 11 am. All of the edges are chip-free and the corners are uniformly smoothed. The work is truly beautiful. Overall, everything went very smoothly. The whole process took 20 days. Violetta was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful; Oleg and his team were consummate professionals. Their finished work is brilliant. Marble Treasure has earned its great reputation. We will certainly choose them again in the future. Update: January 2017 Six months is a good time to give an update. The counter-tops are still looking fantastic. They are easy to clean and maintain. We are happy we went with quartzite--very durable and sharp looking. And we are still very happy that we chose Marble Treasure. I will give a final update at one year.

We had flooding from our basement drain that was caused by the flushing of our main bathroom toilet. It was a disgusting mess on a Friday night, so we looked up Mr. Rooter and gave them a call. Marc came out that evening and scoped our drain and kept me involved in the entire process, going in depth about how the stack tied into the drainage system in our home. The main large pipe from our upstairs bathroom was as old as our house (almost 70 years old) and needed to be replaced. In addition our pipes were clay and clogged with debris, as tree roots had broken and infiltrated them (as I could clearly see in the scope), so some of them needed replacing too. On the following day, Jimmy came out and prepared the job by breaking through the floor. This prepatory work lasted four hours. On Sunday he came with an assistant and finished the entire job (another four hours): replacing the stack five feet up as well as 12 feet of clay pipe with new plastic pipe, tying it to the existing plastic that ties into the city line, and then putting the floor back to normal. The man did brilliant work in the most confined furnace room, under two walls, with minimal breakage of the floor. The work was so clean and precise. Everything now works perfectly, two months later. Mr. Rooter is a little more pricey perhaps, but they stand behind their work and will come out at any time to solve your plumbing problems, no matter how dire. Having more recently dealt with a third rate business that failed at what I contracted them to do (and yet are trying to keep my money), I realize how great a business like Mr. Rooter is. Their reputation has been earned. You might pay a little more, but the work will be done and done well. I would call them in any future plumbing emergency and would recommend them to all.

Enrico and his team came out and upgraded a lot of the service in our home, short of rewiring. Our house is over 60 years old and the electrical service looked never to have been upgraded in all that time. They upgraded the electrical service panel on the side of the house, replaced the clevis, installed new outlets for our stove and dishwasher, replaced our fuse box with a modern breaker panel, installed surge protection, grounded our home at the panel, replaced a number of plugs and light switches. It was a big job that took two days. Throughout, Enrico and his team were professional, arrived early, and worked hard. On his inspection, Enrico even found a false ground wire in one of our bedroom outlets. The work was thorough and we are happy. It has been about 3 months now since Enrico and his team came out and there have been no problems. We highly recommend Captain Electric and will be calling them again in the future.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Captain Electric Shane. It is good that you have invested in the safety of your home, by having your service and other circuits upgraded. It is still very common to find older homes with outdated electrical systems. Whereas most homes would have had a roof replaced 3 times, and a furnace and air conditioner 3-4 times during a 60 year period, we often find that the Electrical and Plumbing infra-srtucture are often overlooked. Thank you for appreciating our team. We will see you next time. ... bw

My wife and I had two highly rated asbestos companies visit us to assess various floor and ceiling tiles in our recently purchased older home. Marcello couldn't make the morning appointment but the other company arrived at the scheduled time, so I thought the matter was decided. The other company's representative, a very friendly man, pointed to each area of concern and said "that's asbestos, that's asbestos." Because we knew nothing at the time, we believed every word he said. The recommended work totaled $8000. Marcello called and told us his brother, Dominic, would be at our house at 4 pm that day. I almost told them not to bother coming, but fortunately I did not. Dominic arrived and I thought he would point out the same areas as being asbestos. Nope. He came through looking at the areas, cutting small pieces out, telling me, "nope, you're lucky, this is cellulose, look." At first I didn't want to believe what he was saying as I had already set my mind on the seemingly trustworthy assessment made by the previous company. I had to call my wife in to hear what he was saying. He believed that only the 9 by 9 tile in the master bedroom, landing, and stairs contained asbestos, but he told us to send the samples away (he even cut them out for us) for our peace of mind. So we did. When the results came back, I realized that we had almost been taken for thousands of dollars by the first company (also very highly rated on here). Of the eight samples we sent, Dominic was correct on every single one: 7 negative, 1 positive. I later learned that he studies samples in a lab and teaches others how to do so--he and his brother Marcello are fully qualified, holding advanced degrees in the field. As for the work itself, it was done quickly and for a very good price. Some pieces of tile remained, but I went through and removed them with an asbestos respirator, warm water, and a sponge, and lightly chiseled any small pieces I found still attached. Dominic returned and reassured me that this type of tile is low risk as long as power tools are not used. Overall I am very happy with the work and experience. I am no longer concerned by this type of tile--non-friable/indurate, and I have Dominic and his team to thank. I would highly recommend them. And always send your samples for independent testing first, as Dominic taught us. Dominic is an honest man, and that is a rare thing indeed.
