I called HC Electrical Services after reading a few reviews on HomeStars. Larry arrived when he said he would, went over my list of what needed to be fixed, and quickly went to work. Although the work I needed to be done was minor, he spent the time to fix and check everything. What I liked about Larry was that he explained how everything worked and what was wrong with each issue. For example, the wall switch was wired incorrectly by the previous owner - a quick fix. I didn't need two of the GFCIs installed as they were already protected. The other two GFCIs were my option to install due to the wiring on the circuit; I chose to leave them as is. And the dead wall socket was a wiring issue extending from another socket in the room. Larry also rewired a wall switch for me to separate a wall socket and an overhead light. Throughout, Larry could have easily upsold me on repairs I didn't need, but he didn't. Instead, he explained everything so I could better understand the wiring in my home. I'm glad I called HC Electrical. If I have another electrical project in the future, I will certainly call Larry and his team first!

I called WaterWorks after reading the reviews on HomeStars. My original call was what I thought was a leak behind a wall. When Larry, the technician arrived, he immediately knew what the issue was (expansion), explained it to me, and mentioned it didn't need to be fixed. I then asked him to install shut-off valves in my kitchen and upstairs bathroom as well as check the dishwasher hookup, which the previous owner had covered with an old cloth and elastic bands. He explained that the hookup had an old valve and was leaking water when it was turned. He explained what work needed to be done and provided a quote before he began. He then quickly went to work and fixed all issues cleanly and promptly. Although I perhaps could have called around for a more competitive quote, I'm glad I chose WaterWorks. (The price I have listed includes their service plan.) Their customer service is outstanding, and Larry was very friendly, courteous and clean while in my home. If I had another plumbing job, I would call WaterWorks first.

After receiving a red warning tag on my oven from the local gas company, I called another appliance repair person. Although helpful, he admitted he wasn't familiar with my particular brand of stove. I then found Quality Assured Appliance Service as an authorized repair dealer for my brand. Although I didn't see reviews on HomeStars for the company, I decided to call them. I found the office staff to be very friendly and helpful in setting up the appointment for a few days later. The day of the appointment, the repair person arrived promptly, immediately diagnosed the issue, and fixed it very quickly. He also checked the stovetop burners and explained how to best clean my stove, including the igniters. My experience with Quality Assured was very good, and I would call them first if I had to repair another appliance in my home.

Yuri is professional, knowledgeable and worth his fee. This past summer, I contacted Yuri for a home inspection on a 12-year-old townhouse. Although his price was marginally higher than other home inspectors, I chose him because he was professional and knowledgeable (with his engineering background). He fit me into his schedule, and on the day of the appointment, showed up 30 minutes early and immediately went to work. Over the next three hours, he inspected almost every aspect of the home explaining problem areas and how I could repair them. (This was particularly important to me as I'm not very handy.) A day later, I received a comprehensive report full of colour pictures. I am now using this report to make minor repairs throughout the home and to remind myself of what needs to be fixed and/or maintained. If I had to conduct another home inspection, I would call Yuri first. He takes pride in his work, and I know he would show up on time and conduct a thorough, professional review.
