Just got our cabinet shelving installed. Happy with the quality and beautiful look of the slide out drawers and trays. Nowadays with space being a premium, it's great to maximize storage and their ease of access. Jon is a good installer - knows what he's doing and most helpful. He even helped with other misc diy items when we asked. Our designer has been in touch and hopefully the few items requiring adjustments will be resolved with no problem. Will update on this later.

Very disappointed with Miele's warranty/repair coverage and their aweful service centre phone rep's attitude. This is especially upsetting as we were heavily sold on purchasing a 5 year extended warranty on our Miele washer and dryer a couple of years ago. Recently, our washer door''s rubber seal broke into 3 pieces. So we called to have it replaced as we believe it is a product defect. No door seal should breakdown like this only after a couple of years usage. The phone call was most unpleasant, with the agent almost accusing us of abuse in our use of the appliances. He didn't even know us and making such accusations were completely out of line. For the record, we do not 'abuse' our high-end expensive appliances. We never overload our washer/dryer, wash anything else other than clothing and linens and always follow instructions as per their instruction booklets. Anyways, he basically refused to replace the seal under warranty. (This is probably a $5 item on their cost inventory.) To make a long story short, we demanded to speak to a higher-up who was no better in customer service attitude. But at the end reluctantly agreed to have the seal replaced. I'm shocked by the attitude of Miele service centre. We have purchased a number of their products over the years and thought they are reputable and stand behind their products. But after this horrible experience, we will be taking our money elsewhere when it comes to purchasing home appliances.

(Formerly AIC Communications, now taken over by Prism Security) Initial service call took the technician only a few min to replace a dead battery. We were on the understanding that he would also check the system during the visit (which didn't happen). A miscommunication which the call centre person acknowledged, and agreed to have the technician return to fix a 'chimes' coding problem. Thanks to technician Amran, who returned promptly the next day and took care of the problem. Thank you!

Jeff and his crew are very professional. That explains why Carpeteer has been around for over 25 years. They did a great job cleaning our carpet, and made sure the place is tidied up after the work is done. I would not hesitate in recommending Carpeteer for carpet cleaning. I understand they also handle flood restoration and furniture cleaning.

Steve is the upholsterer with whom we contracted to re-upholster our 20 year old sofa, about 2 years ago. He was able to visualize our vision of how we wanted to modernize the look of our sofa, suggested new covering materials, and did a fine job completing the project. He even made house calls. He also owns up to his work. We just recently contacted him about a rip (that shouldn't be) and he came over to see what can be done. Will update on the outcome when that's attended to.

Linden is an experienced painter with many years of experience behind him. His work is very good. He is organized and cleaned up well after each work session. We had special mouldings installed on the ceiling and his painting skills were really tested. The ceiling is white and the mouldings were darker shades of green to match the walls and baseboards. He painted the mouldings meticulously and gave them a real clean, professional finish. We highly recommend him for all painting work.

I was pleasantly surprised by the impressive knowledge the staff has on lighting. Was offered a lot of choices and also had help in narrowing down my selection. At the end, the only disappointment was the order I placed did not come in (at all), after waiting for 2 months! I was given a full refund and was offered additional service to pick an alternative lamp. Great overall service.

Rona design team took over completely on our kitchen reno project. They provided design services, materials and co-ordination of all sub-trades. They also provided a good guarantee on the workership. They were busy so service was not optimal, but quite adequate. They stand behind their work and that provided us with peace of mind (very important to us). The reno was completed to our satisfaction.

I'm very impressed with California Closets' customer service. To date, there is absolutely no complaints from that front. Their staff members have all been polite, courteous, and did what they were paid to do. The only unfortunate issue is that the built-in did not turn out as expected. But CC offered us a full refund and will remove the system and patch up the walls. We're at the waiting stage for them to do this. So far, customer service has been stellar. Will update Homestar once the system is removed and refund received. Update (almost forgot) - Cali Closets came, removed the system and promptly refunded us as promised. Kudos to them for standing behind their service and product, even though it didn't work out for us. Would not hesitate to refer them for closet installations.

It's a small store but has beautiful high-end products and great display. Staff quite helpful if you request it. One draw back is that it's near Granville Island and hard to find parking.

Miele Gallery has an amazing showroom. But ... I'm not happy with the company's Cdn warranty policy. Our washer/dryer comes with a 1 year warranty, and we found out recently the same w/d pair has a 2 year warranty in the US. Talk about unfair! Not pleased as our previous Asko w/d comes with 5!

When it comes to general contracting work, Jim of Emerson is conscientious,knowledgeable and reliable. All work above board, wcb registered and reasonably priced. Would recommend him for small to medium sized reno and repair projects.

I was very impressed with George Parsons of Edmonds Appliances. Not only is he very knowledgeable on the company products, he is sincere and respectful. A real gem in this age of 'sell it and rid them' retail mentality.

Recocon really does back up their contract work. We have had problems with the initial installations and they came through for us to right the wrongs ... to the point of replacing the whole floor. We were impressed.
