My uncle had trouble with his water heater and told me that to avoid issues, I should have my anode replaced. Both he and I had never heard of this, so I did some research online and found it is a common part that helps to minimize rust in the tank, and it should be replaced regularly. There are lots of videos and links online about how to replace them, but I thought I’d let the experts do it. When I asked AtlasCare about it, they said (via email), and I quote “by the time you need to replace the anode that it is also time to think about replacing the tank itself... we would have to come out and inspect the unit and contact the manufacture to see if we can get this part, so we would set it up as a diagnostic the cost for this would be $129+HST." Holy Moly! They tell me I should probably replace my tank but are willing to first charge $145 for a diagnostic? I don't think they know what an anode is, either! I'm going elsewhere.

My fireplace had not been cleaned in a long time, and when I tried to start it this year, I had a lot trouble, and every time I got it going, the pilot light died within a half hour. I did much research and found that I likely had to replace my thermocouple. I chose this company because of the high reviews, the best price, and he was available with little notice. He even works weekends! When he came, he was very friendly yet professional. I felt safe alone with him in the home, and he let me watch what he was doing. He speaks English and French very fluently, as do I, so we had fun chatting in both languages while he worked. When I told him knowingly that I likely needed a thermocouple, he was very honest and said that he would first try a thorough cleaning. He did not just vacuum -- He took every little thing apart and cleaned each piece individually and thoroughly with wire brushes on the outside and special cleaning devices that he pulled through the inside passages of the pilot light mechanism. He put it all back together and I could see right away that my pilot light was strong and bright! It was not the thermocouple at all! He could have easily charged me hundreds extra for a part replacement, but he was honest and very skilled and he did only what was needed… and charged me a very reasonable price! Imran has earned my respect and I would recommend Gas Fireplace Services to anyone!
