My uncle had trouble with his water heater and told me that to avoid issues, I should have my anode replaced. Both he and I had never heard of this, so I did some research online and found it is a common part that helps to minimize rust in the tank, and it should be replaced regularly. There are lots of videos and links online about how to replace them, but I thought I’d let the experts do it.
When I asked AtlasCare about it, they said (via email), and I quote “by the time you need to replace the anode that it is also time to think about replacing the tank itself... we would have to come out and inspect the unit and contact the manufacture to see if we can get this part, so we would set it up as a diagnostic the cost for this would be $129+HST."
Holy Moly! They tell me I should probably replace my tank but are willing to first charge $145 for a diagnostic?
I don't think they know what an anode is, either!
I'm going elsewhere.
