This is an outstanding company, a pleasure to deal with - arrive on time and explain everything in detail. Every technician is knowledgeable and polite. I use this company for 2 years to shutoff and restart my system, they also did some minor repairs this year. Prices are very reasonable.

CHARGED MONEY, DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
I was referred to Apple Appliance company through Bosch Canada for post-warranty repair. A technician serviced my Bosch refrigerator and charged $96.05 for diagnostics. The root cause of the problem was never diagnosed even a week after two follow up calls. More, some wires in the fridge were not connected correctly after your visit. So not only there was no work done, but the appliance was left in a worse state. I called another company afterwards and they found the problem in 20 minutes and replaced the broken part within 1 day! So, this was not a hard problem. I demanded a refund but did not even receive a reply.
Found water damage, sellers reduced price!
Thank you thank you Carson Dunlop! A home inspector found water damage and mold in the basement of the house we are buying. Sellers were trying hard to hide it. An inspector also went into great detail what could be the most likely causes of it and what would it take to repair. Sellers reduced the price substantially!

I needed a new roof for a while, my house was raining shingles from its original, 17 year old roof since powerful storms last year (luckily, no leaks). I have been agonizing for a while which company to choose - one of the big, established guys, supposedly getting quality work and long-time warranty, or a smaller, leaner and meaner operation (Colorful) which did several houses on our street. The whole idea of covering a roof with shingles made of trash and tar, IMO, is ridiculous - in Europe and throughout much of the world better roofing systems are used, which last for centuries. At the end, I decided that there's no point investing in supposedly better work and longer warranty, as in 10-15 years it's unlikely any roofing or shingle company will be honoring their obligations anymore. For those who are aware, there are ongoing class action lawsuits across North America now against 'organic' shingle manufacturers. How long their current shingles will last, it's anyone's guess. So, for the price Colorful Roofing charges, I could do my roof twice in 25-30 years their supposed warranty runs. I was pleasantly surprised by the work this company has done. All important details were discussed upfront, arrived early for work, did everything quickly and efficiently, meticulously cleaned up after themselves! No prepayments or deposits, very reasonable price, they are insured, listed on BBB, and offer written contracts and written 10 year warranty. Great work Colorful, highly recommended!
Great selection, quality Canadian hardwood, quality work installing the floor. Visited their showroom on Norfinch/Steeles and then picked up floor in Markham warehouse. Good work installing the floor, only 4-5% wasted (10% is the guideline) so I only needed 16 bundles for the room. To save money, I removed the carpet myself, prepared the subfloor, picked up hardwood from warehouse and installed baseboard myself. Highly recommended company, will use in the future!
Andrey is an excellent plumber - a pleasure to deal with! Good work and reasonable prices. Knows everything, explains whats going on, gives good advice, leaves no trash and cleans up everything after work. Used his services to clean a very problematic kitchen drain which I could not do myself even with 25' snake - was a lot of hard work but he did it.

I selected SGT to replace laminate with granite for a fairly large kitchen; out of 4 companies SGT offered the best combination of price/value/warranty/good reviews. Overall, the experience was very good, my wife and I are happy with the result. I was dealing with Patricia; great communication, I had tons of questions but everything was extremely well explained, a pleasure to deal with. There's two small things that caused me to rate it less then perfect: on the installation day it turned out that slabs were not ready, which caused a reschedule to the next day (Patricia called us at the very last moment). This caused a reschedule of the plumbing work to Monday from Friday, so we were left without a kitchen for 3 more days. Another thing was a small dent along one of the seams which I pointed out to installers. Not a deal breaker either - dent is barely visible - so I decided not to pursue further. Overall, great value for money (which I was looking for) but not 100% perfect.

With the best intentions on occasion there can be a delay resulting from one of several reasons. We are truly sorry for the resulting inconvenience. We are pretty good at installing on time - and are very motivated to make 100% of the time. This includes our moving to a larger plant soon - where the jobs will be ready to install at least one day before schedule.
The dent sound like it can be a tool mark - possibly the tool exit point if machined on our CNC's and in thoery should be nearly invisible. However, we want you to be happy 100%.

I had a lot of trouble finding someone to repair moldy doors and a cabinet damaged by previous owners of the house (I did not want to replace my beautiful, not-from-ikea, oak kitchen with anything else); the options were either complete replacement or refacing, until I found Dmitry on HomeStars. Not only did he replace, for a very reasonable price, a cabinet and a set of oak doors, matching the finish of the rest of the kitchen; he also gave me great advice on other DIY things and recommended a great plumber (Boris). This company is such a pleasure to deal with. I first contacted them 7 or 8 years ago (they were called Boehmers/Cronin Emery), when a Clair furnace in my house (currently 25 years old and still running!) had an issue. Since then, I sign up to their Service Plus maintenance agreement every year (a bit above $100), which includes inspection, and the furnace is still running great! A number of parts has been replaced over the years; service technicians always arrive promptly, are knowledgeable, polite, explain and show everything! What I like more then everything, never any sales pitches even though furnace is way beyond its typical lifespan and the company does sell new furnaces; charges are very reasonable (there's a discount with a service plus agreement). This is an old school company that is an absolute pleasure to deal with; highly recommended!!!
Gary is a nice guy, charges reasonable prices, but I'm not sure he is competent in what he's doing. I used his services 3 times and it was mixed experience. He fixed a fridge door, could not fix a microwave with grill (but that one was probably unfixable). Third problem was with a dishwasher few months ago - dishes dirty after washing. Gary came in, took it apart, cleaned it with toothbrush and charged about $100. Well, it worked for a week but then it broke again. With the help of youtube and internet guides, i took it apart myself and found that chopper assembly part has broken (chopper grinds the food into small particles) so food was always clogging the drain. I ordered the new chopper from PartSource, put it in, everything worked perfectly ever since. I would expect an experienced appliance repair man to diagnose this kind of problem, not just charge $100 for useless cleaning.
I needed a fence post replacement as my old one was rotten and fence was leaning. Most fence companies either don't answer phones, have ridiculous minimum job requirement or quote a lot of money for this very simple work (about 1.5-2 hours). But Alex responded quickly, gave a very reasonable quote right on the phone, and fixed the post quickly. PRO-RENO guys are running very efficient operation, do a great job and pass savings to customers. Highly recommended! NOTE: not putting in the price - please call them for current quotes; I got a few other quotes and the price was very reasonable.

Entire house window replacement
Excellent job, great quality, the company is a pleasure to deal with. Prices are reasonable compared to other quotes. All concerns were addresses promptly. The only complain is that they took a few weeks longer then promised to manufacture the more complex (arched) windows so installation date was pushed back.

Pros: Movers were on time, very nice, careful, did excellent job assembling/disassembling/wrapping. Nothing was broken or scratched and everything was delivered where it had to go. I gave a good tip to the guys. Cons: the size of the required truck was underestimated despite the fact that a salesperson came to our house to look and do the estimate. The quote was fairly low but this is likely due to underestimate. So on the move day, they called an additional truck and charged us $100 over the original quote. We got lucky that the truck was available, otherwise it would have stretched for another day. Overall: good quality work but, from a brand like Tippet-Richardson I'd expect more careful estimation and no moving day surprises.
