Installation of new laminate floors throughout townhouse

After a long search (including many referrals) for the perfect hardwood flooring company, I came across Value/Universal Hardwood Flooring and was very pleasantly surprised. From the beginning, Andrew provided me with excellent information in choosing my flooring. I did not know whether I wanted laminate or engineered hardwood for my new townhouse but, after careful consideration and listenting to my needs/wants, Andrew led me to the best possible product for a price that fit my range. I went with the Koala Klick laminate which was installed in approximately 425 sq ft of space over two floors. The product is really beautiful and the crew did a fantastic job with installation. Andrew came back personally to look at two small areas I was unsure of, and he fixed them quickly and without question. They provided thorough instructions on how to care for my floor, and welcomed me back to the showroom if I ever have questions or concerns. I am really so happy with the product and level of service I received and would highly recommend Value/Universal to anyone.

Hardwood for first floor

I've been going to the Tim Hortons next door for about 3 yrs and I always said that I would go to Universal when I needed hardwood. Last week, we went to Universal to pick out the color. Andrew was really helpful in deciding on the type of wood and color. He also gave me a few samples to take home, and didn't even call me to ask me when I was going to return them. I felt guilty b/c I think I kept them for about 3 wks. Anyways the hardwood we went with was fantastic and the price was great. Quality, value and great service. I would definately recommend the store to all my friends and family. Andrew was so nice, helpful, a very nice guy.

purchase of hardwood

I called on a weekend to see if this company had the flooring I wanted. Victoria was not able to confirm at the time if the wood was available but promised to call at 9am on Monday morning. At 8:50 Monday morning she called and assured me the product was not only available but could be delivered the following day! I was so pleasantly surprised that she had made my request a priority. We spoke on the phone a couple of times to discuss logistics and Victoria was very professional. I made a small change to my order and dealt with Nick who was extremely accomodating as well. The order arrived on schedule. Excellent product and outstanding customer service!

Hardwood flooring and installation

With no pressure tactics, the people at Value (Peter and Andrew, in particular) took the time to understand our lifestyle and help us select a wood that we both loved the look of and would stand up to our two dogs. We decided on the pre-finished Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) by Superior. It has been almost a year since the installation, and the floor still looks as great as it did on the first day! We originally went with Value for the material only, but after firing our general contractor for a botched kitchen tile installation, we asked Value to also take on the installation. Their installers were nothing short of perfectionists, ensuring that every line was as straight as possible, which is quite the task given that there isn't a single square corner in the house. We would whole-heartedly recommend Value Wood Floors to anyone looking to deal with an honest company that stands behind its products and is more interested in recommending the best product for you, not the most expensive.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Be sure to understand your needs and lifestyle before selecting a hardwood material. Young children and pets can damage softer woods in the blink of an eye. Also, when shopping for an installer, do not necessarily go for the lowest price. An inexperienced installer can end up wasting more material by making unnecessary cuts, or worse, perform the installation in such a way as to void the manufacturer warranty.

5" maple plank engineered click flooring

I found Value Wood Floors through an online google search for "maple hardwood floors toronto". Believe Value was 6th or 7th on the list. Contacted about 5 of the companies asking about supply and availability. Some replied back with numbers the rest said you have to come in for a quote. Peter Stachowsky replied back same day with a quote and availability. We spent a day visiting 4 stores that claimed to have what we needed but were disappointed with either the quality of product they had available, the lack of selection, or simply not having what they claimed to have on their outdated website. Value Wood Floors was the last place we stopped at and we got exactly what we expected at exactly the great price that Peter promised. We bought the floors on the spot and they arrived in their shop exactly when they said it would. Absolutely no surprises, everything was as promised, we are very happy. Another great thing we liked about the store itself was that it had a very family-run feel to it. Didn't have that greasy salesman pressure vibe that seemed to everywhere else. Next time, we'll just go straight to value and with the time we saved shopping we'll sip on cocktails by the pool. :)

Hardwood Floors

I had a great experience with Value Wood Floors/Universal. On the product side, Peter was very knowledgeable about the different products and what made sense for our needs, and never did I feel pressured or that he was trying to upsell me. Prices were honest and very competitive (and I did a lot of looking around). On the installation side, Andrew is one of the most patient contractors I've ever dealt with. I was a little anxious about the process and had a lot of concerns/questions throughout, but Andrew was always happy to explain why they were doing things a certain way, or how they could do things differently to make me happy. They also threw in some nice finishing touches that fall outside the scope of the work they were contracted to do.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or call on them again. Great people.

Cork Flooring

Peter is just great to work with. Always replied to my email/questions promptly (even when he was off from work!) and very informative. We installed the floor ourselves and during the process, whenever we had some questions on how to go about certain things, he walked us through it. Friends and family just love our new cork floor! :) Thanks to Peter and Value Wood Floors!

Basement floor

We worked with Peter and Andrew at Value Wood Floors to install engineered hardwood in our basement. They were very patient and friendly to work with. We are very pleased with the results of our beautiful new basement floor. When we had a couple of minor issues after the installation, Andrew came by and resolved them within 24 hours. We intend to work with them again in the future.

Guoya Carbonized Strandwoven Bamboo Flooring

In addition to being very accommodating with their samples, their delivery was very prompt. Peter actually gave me installation advice that was contrary to his best interest but more in-line with saving me money. Very honest and great service.

Refinishing a 1950's era high quality oak parquet floor

Andrew's team at Universal did a great job on refinishing a beautiful 3/4" thick oak parquet floor in our 1950's era home. It had languished under broadloom for many years and they brought it back. The sanding was done well and with a minimum of dust, and the three coats of finish are superb. This is the second time we have dealt with them. The first time, they laid a cork floor for us at our previous home.
