updating electrical panel from 60 amp to 100amps

Joel is very hard and honest worker. He explained everything to me and made sure I knew the entire process. I didn't have to worry about arranging an inspector or EPCOR - he looked after everything. I would easily recommend him to anyone needing to do electrical work.

Thanks Kelly. It was a pleasure to do the job for you. Service upgrades can be intense as it involves temporary disconnection of the power mains and reconnecting all the branch circuits to the new panel. It's very satisfying work once everything is back on and resuming with bigger and better capacity on updated equipment.

New outlets and updates

We had a few companies come out to give us an estimate to upgrade some wiring in our basement. We were very happy and comfortable in choosing this company. Joel was very fair and professional in his work. He was able to explain and make recommendations for work to be done. We were very happy with the work and will be using this company again very soon!

Bathroom Fan Install + Elec Plug Install

Joel did a great job with installing a new bathroom fan in my master bathroom. Just as a previous reviewer said, he jumped right up in the attic and went to work. Did a great job. Even took the time to lay out sheets to control any mess. I also re-routed some plug ins and installed new plug ins/breakers. He took time to review with me what I wanted done and did a very professional job. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for feedback. We do so many of these bath fan retrofits that it's now our native territory and feels so natural. The drop sheets are a must have to protect flooring and fixtures in the bathroom while we extract the old fan and install new. It keeps the work area neat with minimal cleanup needed.

Kitchen lighting

We installed pot lights in our kitchen a couple of years ago and decided we were unhappy with the lighting pattern. Joel responded immediately to our request for estimates to change the lights from one switch to two. His quote was very reasonable, and he completed the work in a timely and professional manner. We would not hesitate to provide him with a ten star recommendation... he even replaced, everywhere in the attic, the insulation that had been removed but not replaced during the original installation. Thank you!

Bathroom Fan Install

We contacted Marshal Electric to have a bathroom fan installed. Joel was very professional and provided top quality workmanship. We were very impressed by the turn around time from when we contacted him and had the work done. When Joel arrived for the bathroom fan install, we inquired about installing a light in a bedroom. This was no problem, and it was done at the same time. We couldn't be happier with the job that Joel did, and we would highly recommend him to anyone needing electrical work done.

Replacement & New Bathroom Fans

We wanted to replace the bathroom fan in our main bath and install a new fan where there was only a window. The only problem: our roof is so shallow, it's basically flat. And the previous owner blew a bunch of loose fill up there. I bet most people wouldn't have even taken the job. But Joel commando-crawled his way in and out of the attic all day and did and amazing job. And the fans are amazing, as everyone has said. Hire Joel. Especially if you have a big spacious attic - the man deserves a break!

A lower pitch roof generally means a more compact attic space but if possible it is always best to access the ceiling above the fan from the attic space to ensure a clean installation with well placed ductwork, an airtight vapour barrier seal, and to maintain adequate insulation around the bath fan housing. I believe the extra challenge of your tight attic space was well worth overcoming as the results of using this method to install the bathroom exhaust fan will provide value and performance for years to come! It was a pleasure working for you Craig, thank you for choosing us to do the job.

Upgrading the electrical system for a stove from a 30 amp with a 10 guage wire to a 40 amp with a n 8 guage wire in a 28 year old five level split home.

The work was complicated as the wire could not be pulled and had to be fished and pulled up walls and under floors, etc. Joel approached the task with creativity, determination and professionalism. We were very pleased with his work ethic, his advice and his manner. We felt that we had received good value for our money and would highly recommend his services.

Thank you Mona. It was definitely a puzzle to solve in getting a cable from one end to the opposite end of your finished 5 level split home. Fortunately, experience shows me that it can be done. It was a pleasure working with you, so thank you again for choosing Marshal Electric.

Bathroom fan and dimmer switch replacements

Joel replaced a bathroom fan and a dimmer switch in an older home. He was easy to contact and very helpful in discussing our situation. His quote was reasonable with two fan options, he was on time and completed the work diligently. He even shared a few observations of what he had seen in the attic (regarding the roof condition and attic insulation) while he was up there for the duct installation. I wouldn't hesitate to use his services again or to recommend him to other homeowners!

Range Hood Replacement

Joel replaced our basement range hood (with a more powerful model). He was professional, careful and did excellent work. He gave good advice particularly via SMS while I chose a hood range to purchase online. He provided some good advice on backdrafting and ventilation. At the start, he estimated $188, as long as it was only a couple hours of work. At the end, he charged us a fair price. He did great work and would happily hire him again.

I'm happy to hear that you liked my work. The low output hood fan definitely needed to be upgraded. That will no doubt make a positive difference for evacuating cooking gasses.

Bathroom fan replacement project

Reading the positive reviews here put me at ease with dealing with the right person for the job, which is why I chose Joel at Marshal Electric.

There have been droplets of water from condensation coming down from the bathroom exhaust vent during the winter months, so much so, that part of the ceiling around the exhaust fan was wet. Apparent ceiling damage and mold would be imminent.

Joel came by and took a look at the whole thing and it was obvious that the duct work itself needed to be replaced and well as the positioning of how the duct vents up into the attic and out to the roof. The previous owners/builders who had set it up was done poorly and inefficiently. Basically the whole thing needed to be redone and done properly and this is exactly what Joel had delivered.

In addition, he provided a new super quiet fan which now performs much better than the previous one I had. More importantly, I don't have to worry about condensation and leakage problems as he re-did the duct work and sealed everything up properly.

Joel was very efficient with his time, did a great job, cleaned up properly afterwards, and charged a fair price. I would definitely recommend him.

A very common issue with bath fans in this cold climate where any fault in the fan or ducting will cause long term problems with water leaking onto the ceiling. I'm confident that this issue is resolved with a good install and high performance fan.
