Review urban painter
Urban painter has high prices for mediocre work thats going to cost you more money to fix.
Had urban painter come in after another contractor attempted to paint a mural on my daughters wall who is about to turn 2 before the end of this year but decided to use old bacteria infested mud on my wall which smelled disgusting.
Wife and I decided to use urban painter to remove the entire wall that had any sign of this mud. It was around a 10 foot wide section by about 8 feet high. When we contacted Dave with Urban painter and told him the story he said how terrible it was to use old mud and his company would never do something like that and honestly I thought he actually cared. The total price of the quote was just a little over $1800 for the job. The worker that hung the drywall decided since he didnt purchase enough materials he wanted to leave a section that had this mud on it and actually told my wife they use old mud all the time but just mix in bleach to mask the smell as its a old tradesman trick which is ridiculous considering how cheap it is to buy.
The finished product was terrible and when we asked if someone could come fix where about 3 dents are ( this is on the new wall we had installed FYI ) and we could see the old paint colour through where the old wall meet the new wall toward the ceiling all Daves employees had emergencies so quite the coincidence. Dave just kept msging my wife about getting paid and was only worried about the remaining amount owed not making sure he had customers that were satisfied with the finished product. I always assumed you pay a deposit or instalments an the entire invoice is paid when the job is done and customers are satisfied. On top of that he tried to add $250 to the bill and bring it over $2000. He didnt send this to me cause Im sure he would of known my response but my wifes was the same thankfully and we only paid the agreed upon price in the original quote. This was the final straw for me and I got pretty upsetso I sent Dave his money and told him not to bother sending anyone back as theyve done enough damage and I cant afford to have any other issues.
Also during the repairs done on the wall Im assuming none of the carpets were covered as my wife went in there and vacuumed and full of drywall dust in our vacuum canister. They didnt even have the professional curtsey to clean up after themselves. All you smell in the room is drywall dust and weve tried to steam clean and you still smell the dust. Ive since removed the carpet instead of even attempting to hire someone to professionally clean it and Ill be installing new stuff as I dont want my baby girl having any issues. Its not really my area of expertise but with the bad luck with contractors and paying other people Ill take my chances.
