the deck guys

Hired the Deck Guys in 2022 to take out old deck and build new composite deck, privacy fence & steps. Deck Guys - owner/builder/designer did design and build.

I'll skip the details about the length of time from deposit to completion but it did get done. Helical piles done by a 3rd party arranged by The Deck Guys. Extra water proofing work also done by The Deck Guys.

Fast forward 1.5 years and the deck is warped. Not a little, a lot. Want to push your chair back from the table? The leg gets caught and the boards chip. Visually noticeable. Part of the skirting is starting to come away. Privacy fence is starting to wave. Stairs to yard are warped.

Called back The Deck Guys and owner/builder/designer to review. He said that he's never seen it warp like that before and he'll screw the boards down. A while later his brother/crew member comes and screws a few boards down. Still not flush and looks terrible. Says they'll come back on the off season to remedy.

I called the manufacturer, and a rep did a site visit. Were very clear that the installation was faulty.

I followed up with several emails to builder, info@, office admin person I had dealt with, no response since June 2024. Last response from owner/builder/designer was that the manufacturer would give him extra plugs and he'll come back to screw down the boards.

Called Deck Guys toll free number, no reply. Completed 'contact us' on their site, no response. No answer to cell number I had for builder/designer. Registered letter to business address on an invoice was returned. Waiting on another registered letter.

At $50k I expect someone to get back to me and resolve the issue. Absolutely do NOT recommend.
