My husband and I hired The Deck Guys to tear down our existing deck and build a new one with the addition of stairs leading into our back yard. All in all, it was a good experience. Pros: everyone from our initial point of contact through the end of construction was nice and professional; our deck turned out absolutely beautiful, with our neighbours on both sides asking the contractors about it while they were building; the total length of time to dismantle and construct was about 6 working days, which seems fairly average; and they were all very gracious and accommodating with our three big friendly dogs. Cons: the only negative thing I have to say about the company is that their communication skills are a bit lacking. You definitely have to stay on top of it and initiate contact and press them for a start date/updates etc but as long as you are okay with that, I'd say there are no other issues. In each instance where I initiated a question or concern (such as following up on our permit, start date etc) they were generally quick to respond and quick to follow through. Would recommend them as long as you are okay with following up with them as opposed to waiting for them to update you. In the end, all that matters is the job though and our new deck is gorgeous and sturdy.

STAY AWAY. The Deck Guys are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. They will take your money and run without completing the project. I'm out 17k.

We couldn't be happier with our new covered deck. James and his crew were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and we would 100% hire them again. This was a "turn-key" operation as they looked after everything from building permits and inspections to sub-contractors (roof, electrical, paint/stain). We helped with design ideas and that was all. James was very quick to respond whenever I had questions of any kind and was open to any special requests we might have.
We will be enjoying this outdoor space for years and have already invited the crew to come join us for a beverage when they have time.

Despite the challenges of a pandemic and supply chain disruptions, the Deck Guys team completed a beautiful replacement deck project for us. We went from our tired, original deck to a stunning new deck, with roof, lighting, and so many amazing small touches. The whole team were friendly, communicative, and outstanding. We now have a quality deck that will last for many years to come. So happy with the results!

From the moment I spoke to Scott (Deck Guys East) on the phone I knew he and his team were the best people for our job. Scott has a fantastic rapport with anyone he speaks with. He made myself and my family feel so comfortable when replacing and upgrading an old falling apart front staircase and deck, and a non-functional back deck of our home in Lakefield, Ontario. He and his team were so professional, efficient and curtious. They were always there when they said they would be, the job was completed on time and they were so kind and respectful to our neighbours and my family. Scott and his team were very fair in price and did everything they could to make this happen as cost was a concern for us. Scott went above and beyond and suggested a glass rail instead of the typical metal rails which enabled us to have a beautiful view of the lake from the deck. He also suprised my dad with glass on the staircase which we never expected. The Deck Guys also kept the property and surrounding area so tidy and neat and even helped neighbours with some heavy items they couldn't dispose of themselves. I can't say enough good things about Deck Guys. Scott and his team are amazing to work with and we are in the process of planning out another project with them at this current time ! Everytime we sit out on our deck we are so thankful to Scott and his crew for the amazing job they did and what we have now compared to what we had in the past! They turned a non-functioning and dangerous back deck into a beautiful oasis! Thank you Scott and team!! Please see attached before and after pictures !

My deck was over 15 years old, deteriorating, and in need of repair. I decided to hire The Deck Guys after James came by to assess the problem......great decision. He was professional, pleasant and easy to communicate with. His skilled team, John and Jim, was extremely hard working and ensured their work area was completely cleaned up at the end of the job. My deck has been transformed.....a space I'm now happy to use.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to The Deck guys for the exceptional project they designed and implemented. The quality of their work was truly remarkable, and I am extremely content with the final results. Throughout the project, Jamie demonstrated outstanding responsiveness and attentiveness to my needs and concerns. After much research and getting 3 quotes from 3 reputable companies, (there was a fourth but they never quoted), I decided to go with The Deck Guys to build my new deck and, boy am I glad I did!! James and his crew came through with flying colours!! Not only did James show up right on time, so did his crew, Jim and John. James also had the best price out of all 3 companies that quoted and, not only that, but he used better quality materials and the deck is secured with helical piles. I had an extremely tight deadline as I was leaving on vacation and my existing deck was literally falling over. Jim and John arrived on time every morning and worked in the sun and in the rain! and ensured my deck was built on time. No detail was too small and it was evident that Jim and John were perfectionists!! I now have a brand new, composite deck that is absolutely stunning and summer ready. I would highly recommend James, Jim and John for your next deck project; you won't be disappointed!!

Constant project delays and unresponsive. Project was never completed. I successfully sued them in court and won my judgement. They will not pay up and I am currently chasing them for payment.
